This is a video showing how I replaced the front rotors, hubs, and break pads on a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 truck. This is a 5.9L Cummins diesel that is a 12 valve. I referenced torque specs and showed detailed methods on how to get the job done. Please reference your owners manual for torque specs and consult professionals on how to properly complete this job. This video is just showing how I did the work.

Thanks. Just bought one a couple of months ago. Hit 1500 miles and meant to change at 1000. Looks like the ford pans won’t drain fully because the plug appears to be about 1/2 inch. Up from bottom… is that correct?
Right. With the drain on the side, it will be more difficult to drain every last drop. I would suggest parking on a slight incline to help drain the oil. Just make sure to use your e-brake and chock your tire before crawling underneath.

Is there a part number for that metal bracket on the starter wire? I've looked everywhere and I cannot find it by itself without the whole cable attached.

You do not need to dissassemble the wheel bearing assembly to replace the ball joints

You can also weld the back of the ball joints and they literally fall out
Good Video . The camber caster bushing can be turned so the top ball joint is forward and out . My truck steers better and returns to center better with the Caster around 6 degrees or so... Not enough caster and it over steers and needs assist to return to center , too much and you get caster wobble like a shopping cart . Most alignment shops wont go into great detail looking for the best caster setting and just go for the toe in measurement . Some shops have no clue its adjustable

My top bolt broke loose but for some reason it is stuck, like it is cross threaded or the threads we're stretched from the factory. Stock starter in a 2012.

How did you get the “back bolt” out? Did you go through the engine bay or come from underneath the truck with your shallow socket and ratchet? I can’t get a ratchet on it at all. There’s other hoses and stuff in the way. Even using a box wrench, once I get it on the bolt I don’t really have any leverage to loosen the bolt. I have removed the heavy metal bracket and the other two starter bolts but this third one in the top is impossible to reach. 2012 ram 3500.
I’m going through the same problem as you right now what did you end up doing ?
@@wadehouston2001 I was able to go from underneath the truck with a smaller 3/8 ratchet and a 3 inch extension for the top hard to get to bolt. I broke it loose first with a 13 mm wrench
Is your truck setup with a single or double alternator? I'm in the same situation but my truck has 2 alternators and not sure if there are different battery cable assemblies.
Hi, this 2000 f250 has a single alternator. I am not familiar with the double alt setup but I would imagine they tie together and then send power to the batteries as one. If that is the case there would be a couple extra cables for your truck between the two alternators. Let me know what you discover. Best of luck to you!!
Sounds like you might have what they call the ambulance package option on your truck with the two alternators
Mine was arching. Top bolt was a bugger. 6 inch flex head ratchet and shallow socket did the trick. Good video, thanks.

Thank you for your video. I have currently caught 4 squirrels with the squirrelinator but there is at least 6 more which have been seen. I am trying to save my almonds on my almond tree which are coming ripe. Tomorrow I will be using gas. Thank you for the warnings also
Best of luck to you! It’s getting closer to the Fall when it is easier to bait because of the lack of natural food. If you have some nice almonds around it will be hard to bait :)

I found mine for my 1995 7.3 Diesel F250 at NAPA. Try others , too , you might be surprised!
I spoke with one of my go-to Ford dealers about this around the time of your comment, he pulled up a service bulletin that stated Ford does have plans to manufacture more of these cables, but is facing a supply problem at their assembly plant in mexico. Affected engines are the 6.8 V10 Gas, 5.4 V8 Gas, 6.0 V8 Diesel and 7.3 V8 Diesel.
@@clevisforharrow NAPA is suggesting I just do a rebuild. The only place I've been able to find it is a diesel company that custom builds them for around $200. I am currently buying the parts from NAPA to rebuild myself.
@@TiffanyF82 Hello! Time out! Strongly recommend going back to NAPA. I tried going the “Ford” dealer route with same info....not made/available any longer. NAPA. came through for me again. Took 2-3 days, but they requested from another NAPA 400 miles away. Cost @ $145 for positive cable. About $50 for negative. Look @ pos. Cable on right side (2 cables that clamp!!) I do NOT recommend piecing it together. Make sure/insist!!! NAPA gives heavy gauge (-) cable....I caught. It Lots of amperage to start that big motor. You may need to buy a. Little bit of 8 or. 10 gauge wire and terminal ends (easy to copy old wiring harness once it’s out) Also, you’ll reuse heavy metal bracket (attached +\- RH lower engine block -front-where cable goes down vertical and sweeps horizotically back to starter. Cut the rubber grommet in such a way that metal clamp will secure cut area. Pls let me know how it goes. Best of luck. Big job, but I’m pleased with it. Happy New Year!
I just found out that the super duty has a ground strap issue. Burns up torque converter. My plow lines keep burning. My grounding straps a rotted away from salt in Wisconsin. I suspect all my electrical problems is probably this reason.

I got my batteries from fleet farm. They had interstate for the ford on sale for 75 each. I used 2 small 12v batteries as a core charge. Then i brought the 2 old interstate ones (12 years I believe) to the scrap yard and got $40 for them. So I paid 110 for 2 interstate batteries.
My second battery is under mid chassis - how do I get it out ? Put a jack under it and remove side bolts on battery box?
What model and year Ford truck do you have? You are probably going to need some custom battery cables. Are there only two batteries? Are you able to share a photo or a video of it?

Zak mine is a 2002 Ford E350 7.3L Diesel with a cargo box on the back. Yes, two batteries - one under the hood, the second under the cargo box mounted to the chassis rail. I’m all set now - just providing this info in case anyone needs it.
