Milkweed Winter Pruning, Save the Monarchs
Great 👍
I don't have any horizontal branches, I have had my tree for a year now. What do I need to do to encourage growth for side branches?
I have Milkmaid Swamp Milkweed. Are your instructions the same for this type? We live in the upper part of South Carolina
This was a very helpful video! Thank you!
Everything about this video is so beautiful !
It would have been nice to have seen it in full bloom also.
Is that the same for miniature roses?
Thank you for the information. I’m potting several roses this year because I’m not sure where to plant them yet in the yard. And if they do well, I’ll keep them in a pot for about 2-3 years. I’m in zone 6b so I’ll be bringing them into my garage before the first frost. Thank you for your post
I have wasps starting to come to my nectarine tree, what can I do to help get rid of them pests
That was a helpful video ❤
I live in upstate NY and I didn't plant my new Swamp milkweed last fall. I did prune it in early spring. Oops, now what?
👍🏼
Thanks😊👍🏼

I can’t find the sprayer either. Anybody find it anywhere?
Hello. You can visit your local Independent Garden Center and they should either have these products or something similar
I’m in zone 9 when do I prune my milkweed!
Really well explained - many thanks. I'm in the UK and mine suffers from peach-leaf curl unless I spray it with Bordeau-Blue - do you have the same problems in your part of the world? The B/Blue does a good job of preventing the leaf curl and is a mix of copper sulphate and quick lime - banned industrially but I use it sparingly on my single nectarine tree - without it I'd get no fruit at all. Last year, it produced about 4 of the best pieces of fruit I have eaten in 66 years - so I want to stop the leaf curl which ravages the blossom. Thanks again!
Should this be done in winter or early spring on stone fruits?
This depends on your location. In Southern California, we recommend pruning in January
@@OttoandSonsNursery were in southern Washington state zone 8a.. I typically prune in winter here but I've got confusing info about stone fruits...some say dormant and others have told me they get some kind of fungus if it's done during dormancy?..just looking for clarification from a pro 👍
I live in Australia I have 6 White Ice Berg Roses because I have been told they are hardy love full sun and do not mind a bit of wind They are in 25cm pots now on my balcony Now is Our Summer When is a good time to repot them into bigger pots And What Pots are Best I Loved Your video You taught me heaps Many Thanks Elizabeth 🤩
Excellent tutorial. Going to search your channel for a more recent update now.
Update?!?!?!?
Great video. Very clear. I have an apricot that is too tall- despite following guidelines to create a small tree. I’m going to go ahead and take some height off. I want to be able to cover the tree with netting to protect fruit. I live in a large city but still have lots of squirrels , possums and raccoons , not to mention fruit beetles.
Thank you! My class garden is doing great and both milkweeds have been thriving, but I did not know how to care for it in winter.
Why do you left spurs. Isn’t new branches will grow from lateral in place where you left spurs?
Thank you. Greetings from Germany.

Is this the right time to change the soil in my potted rose plants. Can I use some of the old soil
Good stuff!! I would like to see a detailed video of all your pruners and loppers😃
This so stupid pruning That kind of pruning will fuck that shape of the tree up
any updates on how this tree doing now?
Hi. Im in Brisbane Queensland Australia I just received in mail the Fulvic acid for my roses i just planted as bare roots 2 weeks ago in premium potting as well as 5 star soil. Im aerating the soils on top every week about 3 inch down, do they breath well. They are looking good. The American rose society advises strongly to Hermic adid or fulvic acid for roses, thats why I bought it. I also bought Alfalfa meal to put on top.i wont use that yet. I need research more. As I dont want to over fo nitrogen or I wont get blooms but only lots of foliage. Can you advise me? The Fulvic acid says it balances nitrogen in soil, How much would I use on a pot of 35cm by 35cm on my roses?
Nice roses
3 or 4 scaffolds and nothing to the middle
Thank you for the video. I have a question and I'm hoping you can help. I'm here in Southeast Iowa (5B). I have two peach trees. I have scaffold branches, several laterals on each scaffold branch. Pruned them this summer but neglected to wait for late summer. The top half of my scaffolds are new growth from spring. The laterals on these scaffold branches are also new growth from spring. Since I pruned two weeks ago, I'm getting laterals all up and down where I thought there would be flower buds. Will these new summer laterals have time to form fruiting buds before next spring, or did I mess up by triggering new growth and have lost what would be fruit bud growth on spring growth that would be second year fruiting wood? Thanks for any advice.
The best video ever
Thank you!🌹🥀🌹🥀

I don't follow how a post pounder is any more gentle than a hammer...
Very informative thank you
I'm up rooting from ground to pot. Is that ok? I'm moving
👍🏻
japanese pruning, effectively, that's right!
Which varieties are best for central coast area (about a mile away, at edge of summer fog zone)?
Have you done a video for pruning climbing roses? I have several, mingled with several clematis. (Clematis montana rubin is beautiful, but a "thug"!)
Great demonstrations. But, please consider closed captioning for the hearing impaired.
It’s February and I just purchased some 5 foot tall milkweed plants. I hate to cut them because they are so lush. Do I need to go down to 6 inches? Can I leave thick stems if leaves are removed? Thanks
