Thank you for this lesson! I am a 58 year-old novice whitewater paddler with a handful of Class II runs under my belt. I am finding more control, stability, and confidence as time goes on. I need to practice my roll and do some more trips this next season. I have been lucky to paddle with some true experts and some very good teachers as well. I thank them all. Also, I want to do a safety course.
As a paddler who recently did a high launch without kicking his legs up, i really appreciate seeing where i went wrong. Can't save it with a roll everytime!!
My word!! We just went in the Snake River in Wyoming with no guide! The raft rental place told us they were small rapids this time of year but after watching this video I realize we were in class 3 rapids!
My Son and I hit our first rapids a couple of days ago. Penciled right through. I see the details you explain. Maybe my next run I will stick around the Eddie for some play.
That place for jump with milder water near you, I assume is far more dangerous for swimmer and kayaker who is stuck in the roller( type C hydrolic jump). Tough to tell form this perspective
Yes, but with one major difference. In the nature you have shaped stones and the hydraulics can change a few feet left or right. There is no escape on human made structures where the dam is straight line crossing the whole river.
Great advice! 👍👌💪
Team work!💛
I want to become a raft guide and this has helped a lot. good information.
Nice narration but I would have liked to have seen someone playing in it and getting out... Because I cannot get out of a hole for love or money.
Don't know why your videos aren't getting more attention. I think they are quite good.

When I was running white water the first time during my vaccation I thought, dann I need someone to explain reading the water... Thank you so much.
Is that like a low-head dam?
Yes, dangerous.
