We did a quick pick of leaves for Ridge Landscaping today using the ODB LCT 650 leaf vacuum.
Scag Windstorm. Absolutely the best tool in our leaf removal arsenal.

Absolutely, they are great machines…we’ve had two of them! We still have this one and it runs great!

Hey I was curious where did you buy the vacuum I was doing research and saw the crazy price of one of these vacuums new I also saw the price of one of them used would you recommend buying these vacuums used for the significant price decrease or would you buy new for the sake of not having any problems out of the gate?
We purchased 3 vacuums from a local municipality at auction. They were well maintained and only a couple years old. Old Dominion Brush, ODB, is located in Richmond Va and still supplies any needed parts. Personally I'd recommend buying used but do your research. Thanks for the interest.

It's just running at idle. Usually run it around 1000 rpm.

How many hours can this machine run? I'm trying to buy a used one it has 500 hours on it
This machine has approximately 1000 hours. We change the oil every 200 hours. I sure the life depends on your maintenance. We've had no issues this far. Runs like new.

My opinion. This video ain't even a comparison. Both are very good mowers. The new exmark got a really good ride and cut. I find exmark a little shorter so they fit on a trailer better and mow hills good. Often they are are a little lighter in weight than some heavier brands. That is good because they tow easier and don't leave ruts in a wet yard so bad or get stuck as easy. Also just a little bit cheaper and longer lasting. I have seen to many companies make mowers to heavy with poor design. Example, Like ferris with a super heavy cat diesel. Give me a big block gas engine any day. Not a Heavy piece of junk. The drive system had to move so much weight, add a loaded bagger of wet grass and front weights and the drive system would collapse after a couple hundred hrs. Some companies skimp where it needs more strength and add where it ain't necessary. Scag is better for mowing heavy overgrown grass than exmark in my opinion. Also a few years ago they knew exmark had the best deck because when they copied it they got sued by exmark. That says all I needed to know when I made my choice of mowers. I went with exmark. Have 1100hrs on mine currently. To those that mow pastures with lawn mowers that's really cool to do. I used to mow pastures of grass also, but I used a 175hp john deere tractor with a 15' wide bat wing mower and sat in a air conditioned cab.

Bryan, the vacuum is an Old Dominion Brush Co , ODB LCT 650. It has and 85 hp diesel engine. The company is located in Richmond Va. You might check municipal auctions. I purchased on tandem wheel machine and one 65 hp single axle from auction. Thanks for your interest.

Truck driver should keep the nozzle centered on the pile at perpendicular extension. No point in shifting half of the pile to the vacuum by hand. Maybe install a baby monitor or wireless backup camera to the support boom for the driver?
Truck driver does not control the leaf suction pipe. The operator handling the suction has control up and down and side to side. Leaf pile is approximately 100' x 12'. Leaf vac is odb lct 650. Educate yourself before commenting.
@@landscapesolutions3709 Talking about the direction perpendicular to the road. The boom has a fixed length, that's why the operator can't get at the far end of the pile. Just offering my ideas, thanks for the upload anyways.

The Scag is mowing a little faster than the Exmark. That's the only "head to head" I saw. Not very helpful as a quality comparison.
What size deck is scag ?

You're right. I should have used one man, a rake, a tarp and trailered the leaves away on a 2 acre job. Come see me for an application. I can use someone with your expertise.

Are smaller rocks a problem for these units? Do you have any venting on the dump bed or is it solid plywood all the way around?
Smaller rocks are no issue. You have to exercise caution around larger objects such as water meter covers. The box is vented with a 4x8' section of expanded metal. We normally run the machine around half throttle.
How many homes can you service before dumping? Have you previously used a smaller leaf vac billy goat or little wonder rig prior to this one?
We can normally get one large job similar to the one in the video per box. Three smaller jobs. I've never tried a Billy Goat or little wonder. The smallest unit we use is a single wheel 65hp Giant Vac. Thanks

Have you used this setup to vacuum grass clippings? I have seen huge piles of grass clippings left after mowing soccer fields. Have you heard of complaints of people leaving piles of grass clippings in their yard?
We've never used the machine to remove grass clippings however it will suck up most anything put in front of it.

Awesome set up, we run something similar but smaller loader, f550. That loader is impressive will last forever. You need it behind a f750 or so..
