Baby Bison Struggle With A Yellowstone River Crossing Opposite Mud Volcano
Something that is almost as much to watch on one of our Yellowstone tours (www.usaparktours.com/yellowstone) as a buffalo jam, is a herd of bison crossing a river!
In this case, the herd was crossing the Yellowstone River, in the vicinity of Mud Volcano, on the east side of Yellowstone National Park's lower, or southern, loop. Unfortunately, the leaders of the herd don't take into consideration how tricky it can be for the newborn bison to cross the river! Unlike the more mature bison, the young bison can't put their legs down and walk across the river, and they have to try and swim across.
In the spring this can be scary for visitors to watch, as it is not unknown for the fast flowing rivers to wash a baby bison (or red dog) to its death, especially on the Madison River, in the Madison Valley.

Hoback is a huge moose, which grows a massive rack every year, and is the most legendary moose in Grand Teton National Park! Every year bull moose grow fresh antlers, which are covered in velvet. At the start of the mating season, this velvet starts to shed, creating a bloody mess. Although this looks painful, it actually isn't! Video by Cindy Shaffer.

Yes, and in other parts of Yellowstone you will find white and black swans. Some do not believe...then see them and say Whoa ! !
Ok, but why? To get into the park?
Correct. There are only four entry gates and so many cars trying to get into the park, that the traffic backs up significantly.
@@yellowstonetours 4 entry points for such a park really sounds not a lot. Never was there before, so I can't even imagine the scale of yellowstone, but 4 sounds like a long waiting time
