Welcome to the Reich College of Education at Appalachian State University’s TH-cam Channel!
Preparing quality educators is a cornerstone of Appalachian’s past, present and future. When it comes to teacher education, the state and region look FIRST to Appalachian for innovative instruction, faculty excellence and student success.
Appalachian provides education students with a unique perspective - the physical location and community as well as the belief that education is something to be valued and nurtured. From Watauga Academy, founded in 1899, to Appalachian State Teachers College, established in 1929, and to the College of Education, established in 1968, Appalachian State University has a long history of preparing quality educators. The Reich College of Education, named for benefactor Lois Reich in 1987, continues this legacy today.

Student Teacher of the Year 2022-2023
Eleven student teachers have been named finalists for Appalachian State University’s Student Teacher of the Year Award. They are Kale Barnes, Erin Barnette, Kimmie Colyer, Alana Hamby, Kalina Hanowski, Isabel Kaczmarek, Maya Kapoor, Margaret Pendergrass, Madelyn Robertson, Josephene Sanders, and Sarah Schriefer. Reich College of Education LEED Silver Certification Features: Rooftop Garden

The rooftop garden insulates the building, so less energy is being used to heat and cool the building. We are using a natural source as an insulator for the building as opposed to a nonrenewable source like coal and gas, which are the current energy suppliers around the town.

The College of Education has features such as LED lights on the interior and exterior, dimmers, and occupancy sensors to conserve energy. The LED light bulbs in the building only use about 25% of the energy consumed by a regular, incandescent light bulb and can last 25 times as long.
