    Are being tempted by the C80? My C70 still has me perfectly happy...

    • @carloscortesi6411
      @carloscortesi6411 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The C70 is an amazing camera and the main one I still use on my projects. Regarding the C80, it looks amazing! However the C400 has considerable advantages (including the faster CFexpress Cards and 6K at 59.94P Cinema RAW Light 12-bit). If you mainly film in Cinema RAW Light (I think changing tint, exposure and ISO while editing is awesome) this is important because the C80 limits you (according to the current specification sheet) to 29.97P at 6K Cinema RAW Light. Say you are filming an interview (talking head at 23.98P and b-roll at 59.94P), if you want to film Cinema RAW Light 12-bit, you will have to film in 6K in order to avoid a sensor crop (invalidating one of the main advantages of full a frame). To get around this, you could film the talking head at 23.98P in 6K .CRM, and then film the b-roll in any of the 4K 4:2:2 10-bit modes at 59.94P. However this presents two issues: 1. The b-roll won't be in Cinema RAW Light so you won't have the same editing flexibility as your talking head. 2. The b-roll might look considerably softer than the talking head (I'm speculating as I have not tested it) because one image is proper 6K and the other is a super sampled 4K (also, at least on the C70, the Cinema RAW Light videos looks a bit sharper to me). Hence why the C400 might be a better option for some people who are concerned about the points above; since you get the 6K at 23.98P and 59.94P for both talking heads and interviews. Just my opinion!

    I ended up trying to save money and bought the adapter from another C70 user. Then I bought two EF lenses used and I didn't love the result. I didn't realize I bought the Mark 2 version of the 15 to 35 and it is not giving a full frame field of view. There is a barely visible black circle around the edges of the image. Although it's very hard to notice in most shots I stopped using it and trying to figure out a better option. I am wondering if the 15 to 35 mark 3 2.8 would be better. It has image stabilization but maybe I should test it

  • @PizzlesTechTime
    @PizzlesTechTime 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I unfortunately did not own any EF glass and I bought the adapter and a 15 to 35 Mark II Canon. I bought a bunch of VF glass on a deep discount and now I have been stuck with them and have pretty bad results. The only lens I like is the 15 to 35 and it doesn't have stabilization so it's difficult to shoot with. Not only that but it does not have a full frame field of view so there is a circle around the image that is barely noticeable but is there through the entire zoom range. I threw this lens on my R5C which is full frame and noticed the circle around the outside.

    What a pointless comparison. Most "cinema cameras" you listed are mirrorless. And you don't even have to go up to an FX6 for more quality. An FX3 is fine.

    • @carloscortesi6411
      @carloscortesi6411 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I refer to Cinema Cameras as those dedicated for video only with advanced features like the ones I listed. Canon refers to them as the "C" cameras instead of "R", and Sony as the "FX" (or in some models, CineAlta) instead of "Alpha". Many newer cameras are technically "mirrorless", so that's an unhelpful observation for comparison. Also, I would personally choose the FX6 over the FX3 due to its internal NDs, SDI port, longer battery life, and more professional XF-AVC video format; hence why I highlighted it in this video.

    I just bought the Canon C70 and you're absolutely right about Wide DR. I did a "Let's Talk" video where I talk about how well this picture profile work with talking head as well as vlogging. CLOG2 is a profile I reserve for shooting RAW ST/LT because I want to get the most out of those large video files. Great tips for those who are starting out with this amazing camera. pay attention noobs.

    bad review buddy. 1) its like complaining that the caravan doesnt do what the RV does. Common sense is get an RV which costs more for a reason. 2) u say the c70 is basically weak compared to your friends sony (which tend to have a weak color scale and the battery tends to over heat) but its ur “go to cam”meaning your main A CAMERA 3) Another oxymoron is thats it cant shoot good for pictures. why even say that when COMMON SENSE is that its a CINEMA CAMERA (as all cinema cams are for MOTION PICTURES NOT PHOTOGRAPHS. Lock in on ur subject,hit record, then crop a section out and thats ur photograph from the motion picture. 4) SO WHAT if its a 35 mm crop sensor its not that much smaller than a full frame . 35 is actually good too (if thats the look you want) However i use ALL ef L series lenses with a speed adapter which works perfectly fine for compatibility and turns it to full frame and brings in way more light in low light scenes with the an L lense 4) i noticed NONE OF THE FOOTAGE U SHOWED EVEN LOOKS CINEMATIC, which leads me to believe you dont know how to film properly with that camera. Learn ur camera before doing a bad review buddy. seperate the FACTS from opinions. This video came across my feed and im not even looking for reviews on this. ps i have 2. c70s and a 5d mark 4, which is everything i meed for film and photos.

    1. Not a single movie camera can take professional photos. This is a stupid quibble) 2. Super35 is a cinema standard. Alexa35 also have Super35 sensor, and it's not a disadvantage. Super35 gives you a natural cinema look. 3. SDI...yes, its a disadvantage of C70. If C70 have SDI - C300M3 would be useless)) 4. C70 can easily record Raw ST/LT in all modes and 4k 120fps on cheap V60 cards, so you don't need to buy V90 5. Buy a cage and everything will work....Its one of the main advantages of C70, you can take the camera and shoot without any accessories, or you can take a cage and rig C70 whatever you want

    • @rikkiekhrist6823
      @rikkiekhrist6823 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, i feel its pretty clear what the c70 was made for (solo op, run n gun, maybe b or c or crash cam on a bigger production) and i think it meets those needs well. i never expect great photos out of a cinema camera, if FF is essential to the project this camera wouldn't even be in the pre pro conversation, i dont expect run n gun cameras to have SDI, most cameras use CFexpress or CFast so the media is actually cheap for this camera, i dont expect a run n gun camera to be modular.

    This is a really amazing video for me as I've only had the C70 for a week. I'm blown away by the performance outside but most of my lenses frock too much to shoot indoors which is where I do most of my work. I really need a good lens option and all of mine are currently RF. I'm trying to decide if I should buy a wide-angle EF and speed booster combo

  • @Nesty499
    @Nesty499 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Don’t you get more dynamic range when shooting Clog2/3 at ISO 800? Why would you want to go lower than that hurting your shadows I use the C200/R5C combination so honestly curious about this. Ty

    • @carloscortesi6411
      @carloscortesi6411 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You get the best dynamic range when filming at ISO 800 in Clog2 (not Clog3); but not every scenario requires the most dynamic range. The native ISO 800 still gives you noise in the shadows (specially in RAW); for the cleanest image I try to keep my ISO as low as possible. So if I don't need the dynamic range (see the false color tool to ensure there are no crushed blacks or overexposed highlights) then I try to go lower than ISO 800.

    main reason not to buy: canon releases a camera with native RF mount (which is meant to be for full frame lenses) but puts a super 35 sensor into the camera; making all the new lenses cropped. that's some low IQ stuff right there, they're intentionally handicapping their own cameras. with sony raising the bar at every single release; canon better step up their game with their overpriced releases. if I was sony, i'd be generous with a few more releases and have more people switch over to their ecosystem and starve canon from cash. they have almost x4 marketcap already, just run them into the dirt.

    All great points. I appreciate that you mentioned the caveats in the first 2 points. If I'm buying a cinema camera, photography is not really on my radar to begin with. Also, the S35 sensor, I wouldnt say, is a reason to not buy. The DGO sensor is incredible with highlight retention, and low noise in low light. I have never had a problem in low light in the 3+ years I've used it shooting weddings and events. Some of the best cinema cameras on the market are S35 sensors. Last 3 points are spot on tho! Which is why I am hoping for a Box style cam with the same specs, to replace it. Great video!
