"The Heaven Plan is not that deep" ??? to understand how the green baby, C-Moon, & MiH work, it's pretty important.
What is the song/theme in the intro?
Really love your commentary! Great contrast between the philosophies of Jolyne and Pucci. Keep up the great work
Imo you should diversify your content, if you become a jojo only you'll have a hard time making content of something else. Arcane just ended i would totally dig on some content related to that.
Never understood how people miss Valentine’s ideology being explained RIGHT BEFORE he SA’s a woman. Araki hits us on the head saying “This type of thinking is evil and is a r*pe to the world”
Bro you lowley kinda cooked ngl, I knew this manga was 10x deeper than what I was able to perceive, bless you for making these things clear. Make more videos like this man, I loved it.
2:17 his leg is on top of his leg, oml HOW ARE THEY NOT TOGETHER? Lol, anyways very good video. Helped me understand things I either didn't notice or just misunderstood
Stone Ocean is my favourite Part aswell since i read it back in the day. It feels to me like the ultimate creative build up in terms of protagonists, antagonists, stands, plot etc. The ending is bitter sweet and just perfect. I will always love Stone Ocean for that
Great video!
Thank you!
11:58 Honestly the first thing jotaro should have said to jolyne is "Do not use any motorized vehicle ever" It's the joestar curse, it never ends well. Hell the whole story is kicked off by a carriage accident so any vehicle really, you'd imagine they'd warn each other at this point.
Your mic kinda sucks
I do think SBR does a good mix of collectivism and individualism, and that mix is represented in most of the characters. Gyro feels bonded to his homeland and the art of the spin but also develops his own independent thought. Johnny is a very individually-determined person but connects with a larger whole through Gyro, the tradition of the spin and the study of nature. Also, despite representing the myth of the American quest for the frontier, SBR subverts this by going from West to East. The individual becomes one with the whole yet retains the lessons learned in the wild. As a collectivist and a communist myself, I do not think the individual needs to be erased, but it does need a change in perspective, and Araki really provides a good alternative in my opinion.
Also while Valentine has a sense of collectivism through his patriotism, he also has a very individualist mindset in his demeanor and determination. He builds himself as an example of an individual "worthy" of taking a stand for his country and becomes an almost literal god. In his own words, "those that are despotic or unworthy will be scorned." His philosophy consists on someONE daring to take the napkin first, a very American Individualist mindset to me.
I never thought about that point about going to east to west. I very much agree that the individual needs to be reframed. So well said!!
Cool video, but I got a question. Where did you find the theme nakama no shirushi by Yuri Habuka? I can't find it anywhere on TH-cam. What series is it from?
I used this link: th-cam.com/video/QxztIKy52mM/w-d-xo.html - its from the One Piece OST!
@@st1ckdr1ft Okay, thanks. I tried looking up Yuri Habuka and I can't find her connected at all to One Piece. I checked the composer for that movie, and it's Kohei Tanaka. Also, the credits (in Japanese) of that video you linked also credits Kohei Tanaka. I looked up who also worked on the film's music (Shiro Hamaguchi, Fuminori Iwasaki, Minoru Mauro, Kazuhiko Sawaguchi) and none of them are Yuri Habuka. I think you gave credit to the wrong artist. Perhaps in the future, you should also list the franchise where you got the music from too.
Oh, my mistake. Thanks so much for letting me know!
Its hilarious that Pucci and Weather are Geminis. Jojo is profound schlock Also id love to hear you do similar analyses to the older parts
I think part 6s representation of fate and freedom and the indomitable human spirit is so underlooked Espically jolynes charecter, jolyne to me personally has some of the best representation of freedom and the embodiment of humanity’s will to defy fate in fiction and thing I don’t know why people refuse to look at when analyzing fate in jojo is a quote jolyne said during the prision brawl fight against the gaurd she comments about an old saying in which she states two men staired out of a prision cell one staired to the floor the other stared at the stars I think this represents the human line between fate a freedom and in this moment jolyne chooses which one she wants to be another pawn in the joestar bloodline forced to forever fight against the forces of evil or reach for the stars and defy her fate in the end ultimately freeing her bloodline
Oh man I love philosophy talk about JJBA, be it Dio's sons' powers being versions of Dio's powers, Emporio's stand being a representation of the whole of part 6 and its ending, all the religious imagery of part 5, the comparisons and contrasts between 3 and 5, Speedwagon and Dio being foils for one another, how every part makes a big deal out of the permanence of death and that no person can truly come back from the dead without serious consequences, how Cinderella actually worked on Kira, or just the way each part handles capital F Fate and how Fate is simultaneously both very stringent but also very pliable and elastic and oh dear I'm going on long runons about jojo again
I very much enjoy your run on lol
@@st1ckdr1ft I am way too hyperfocused on jjba and analysis of it. Not saying it's secretly the deepest most profound work in the world but it has more depth and interesting topics of discussion than some might realize of a series that is largely the author borrowing from hundreds of different resources to make 1 story
Really great breakdown of the main crux of Stone Ocean. It becomes more apparent to me more on each rewatch/read. This rly is my favorite Partm i gotta finish Part 7 and catch up on the series someday soon.
Amazing Video! I'd love to see any video you put out and would especially love some part 9 reviews. Keep up the great work!
No joke, I was going to do a video essay like this as my first video. Even had the script finished and all. Guess I’ll just have to cover stuff that you don’t smh Great video nonetheless
Definitely make it anyway bro!!
@ I guess I will. Thanks for the motivation
part 9 chapter reviews would be cool
tbh I was shocked on how divisive this part was, because as you said it, it perfectly represents everything that JoJo is. Its nice to see it getting some of the love it absolutely deserves !!! Amazing video
I think we know what parts of the fandom consider it divisive. Needless to say they dont enjoy the core of Jojo and just like all the silliness
Hey man, I appreciate soooooo much that you are giving love to Pt 6. Pt 6 has so much amazing writing that I feel people just ignore or dont see. I find pt 6 to be a masterpiece, and there are soooo many things that I took from it that you brought into words and I appreciate it so much. I'm definitely subbing AND YOU DID ASK ABOUT IF YOU MISSED SOME THINGS AND WHILE YOU DIDN'T I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUN IF I THREW SOME OF THE THINGS I TOOK AWAY 1. People think that Pucci's backstory doesn't make sense because the loss of his sister doesn't matter and that we never get to see her memory disc again or its fate. However, I think its a genius writing on Araki's part. A key aspect to Pucci's character is the end result over the process. A perfect example of this is when he talks about Jesus and his crucifixion to be fated in the C moon fight. That the result was bound to happen and the process of getting there is irrelevant. To accept ones fated path. To not show Pucci's process of becoming what he is now is actually reflective of that ideal. We don't get to see how he is able to get over his sister. Or if he still has the disc. Because things like that are irrelevant to him and his ideals. This pairs well with every flashback we see. Starting with Pucci first learning about heaven, and is silent, commenting on how enamoured he is in dio. Then in the second flashback, where he is now asking questions to Dio. Interacting with him as an intellectual. Then in the last one, Pucci goes as far as to joke with dio, smiling with laughter by asking if Dio is saying Leonardo Divinci was a stand user. Personally i feel that dio was actually scared of this. If Pucci's emamordness was going away, that intrigue, which is why he does what he does. But anyways, i believe that the way everything is shown in his backstory and flashback, it only shows the essentials without the process. We dont get to see how he gets more comfortable with Dio, and its as a mystery all the same to dio himself. Hence why he was scared. And i think thats very purposeful from araki Ill stop for now cause this one was waaay too long but i Hope you found my interpretation interesting!
Such a good point! Thank you!
I ain't readin all dat
@@rion3665 go to jail graaaaahh
I love the way you talk about jojos 🙏 please talk about jojolion! there aren’t enough good jojolion video essays (from what I’ve been able to find)
25:00 YEAAAAAAS !! ✊✊✊shouting all of this abt jolyne at the top of my lungs
stone ocean & jolyne were a huge reason that i got into this series in roughly 2012-2014. first teared up for jojo's when i read the ending during MiH - as she sacrificed herself with a smile
And she'd do it all again. I'm sure she lived with no regrets entrusting it to her friend Emporio and doing what she could for her loved ones❤
amazing analysis! God bless ya and Jesus loves ya man!
Excellent video brother 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I actually dispute that Pucci wants to be God. It's way more accurate to say that he just so happens to need a divine ability under his control to achieve Heaven - it's a step on the road to the actual goal. The inherent hypocrisy is still there though (everyone should just accept their fate EXCEPT ME i wanna kill all my enemies first), which is the final piece of his moral bankruptcy (does all these evil acts in the name of a supposedly righteous goal, and in the end contradicts his own ideal because it's convenient) that is his ultimate downfall.
good point! although I believe I said in the video that he "plays god," rather than becoming a god as his final goal.
another thing i like about stone ocean is that at the end emporio spells out araki's thesis of justice, and the ultimate will of fate as a character (force?) in jojo's bizarre adventure: that fate is the path of justice. act truly righteously, and fate will always rhle in your favor at the very end. it feels less like emporio and pucci are talking to each other in that moment, and more that emporio is talking to the reader.

Man, I love your videos
Thanks!
One of the reasons I loved part 6 was its look at stands as individuals. Dragon's Dream hating it's user, Weather and Foo Fighters being just stands without the original ego, yet being some of the most interesting characters. Foo Fighter's near awakening of her stand in her final fight (her stand form changing from pure robotic to resembling her human form). It's all peak, I'm afraid.
And I think it's a pretty fundamental aspect of the story. Especially with Wes using pucci's power to remove Weather Report from his soul, giving the gang back the friend that was inadvertently stolen from them. Even more important when you remember Weather, the one we had befriended this whole time, is the one to deal the final blow to Pucci alongside his oldest friend Emporio
You know i feel like the major parts of stone ocean just went over my head. Your breakdown helps me appreciate stone ocean more and more
that's pretty common, from what ive seen. & it's kinda no one's fault except for the netflix jail release schedule & the sexist/misogynistic/nihilistic-users-of-a-certain-site jojo fans of the 2000s
Yeah Im thinking this vid is really peak
I appreciate that dude
this video was amazing. stone ocean dosen't get nearly as much recognition at it deserves even after the anime release, and you pretty much summarized what makes this part so special without even touching the amazing supporting cast. also i totally think everyone would be down for a part 9 vid
Small subjective feedback - don't do chapter reviews, they're extremely boring. Explore ideas of different parts or tell about another manga / anime
My feedback to your one: no its not boing just choose the important chapter to analysis (like so time for heaven, gw sleeping slaves etc
What an odd comment
Awesome analysis, made my morning
I'd love jojolands stuff from you, and you've definitely made me want to reread stone ocean, and maybe actually finally watch part 6 all the way through, though I've never disliked stone ocean
Please do part 9 reviews your videos and takes are very profound and awesome so I’m all for it for sure
OMG, I WAS WAITING FOR ANOTHER PERSON WHO'S JUST LIKE ME. YOUR SO freaking COOL OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOM> CAN I BE LIKE YOU WHEN I GROW UP PLSPLSPLSPLSPS. I WANNA WRITE LITERARY ANALYSIS LIKE YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
20:58 🙄 you could be a pretty damn good youtuber but then u say shit like this
yes we need to be constructively critical over media but the focus in this case is what we can glean from stories regardless of how tightly-knit they are
@GalekC right . This guy goes over themes very well, but to say that plot holes don't matter is absurd
Yes please to Part 9 reviews. Would love to hear your thoughts on Jodio and the gang. Even knowing we're only 20 chapters in; I'm loving every second of it. Keep up the good work dude!
I just rewatched your SBR video yesterday and today you post this, what a coincedence.
Gravity?
@@st1ckdr1ft yes, it is what it is here
Just discovered your last video today just for you to upload a new one. Mabey, this is fate... luck... or... gravity?
Wait....
Dude a pt 9 review would be great I need more people talking abt it and yeah part 6 is definitely overlooked and the horrible release schedule did not help so it’s so nice to see such a thorough character analysis. Jjba has been haunting my mind for 5 years and videos like these make me so hyped so I can’t wait more videos from u!!
I always love when someone makes a positive video about part 6 And I would love to see chapter reviews from you, but maybe you should do them every few months instead of every month, so that you would actually have some to say other than recap the plot of each chapter
yeah, i would totally love a part 9 chapters reviews from you! just pls don’t use he/him for dragona haha amazing video! stone ocean is my favourite part from the original universe and i love how you formulated the points about it in this video! also i can’t stop thinking about how jodio’s and pucci stories seems to be similar in a lot of ways. jodio in 13 chapter also questions why the fate is this way, dragona tells him to distance himself from the situation, jodio like pucci wants to achieve happiness by using coincidences, by using “mechanisms” of fate. idk it’s seems so interesting to me!!! would like to hear your thoughts about it gosh english is not my first language and i am emotional after the video, sorry, i hope this comment is comprehensible haha
That's such an interesting insight about Jodio! Thanks for letting me know about Part9!
Dragona is a HE so why not
@@mrfact03s dragona’s gender isn’t confirmed yet so for the time being referring to dragona with whatever pronouns is ok i guess, so pls refer to dragona however you want. but she’s clearly very transfem coded and seeing how other people refer to her with he/him makes me sad as if they try to deny her trans identity. i just wanted to ask st1ckdr1ft to not use he/him for dragona cause i don’t see any real reason to do so anyway (they/them is way better), and cause i and other people really get sad when people use he/him for dragona. again, i don’t even think it’s strictly wrong, i just wanted to mention that i would like st1ckdr1ft to not use he/him to dragona. it’s not that deep
@@mrfact03sTheir backstory makes it very clear that Dragona is anything but cis
Jodio calls him his brother so I will too
Definitely would tune in to part 9 vid’s of your’s. I’ve always felt stone ocean was under appreciated and over hated and I really enjoyed your interpretation of Araki’s story.
i think some of the modern dissatisfaction stems from the anime adaptation, left a sour taste, couldve been better imo
I’M SO HYPED FOR THE IDEA OF A PART 9 REVIEW FROM YOU!!!!! I REALLY LOVE PART 9 TOO
Oh man, I was afraid you'll never be back and I love your first video so I'm glad to see you keep up the good work
i think this guy should lose his channel, kinda shite
You should do a jojolion analysis someday
One day I promise. I love jojolion
The way those who try to study the "world" and the abstract concepts are punished in this manga is astonishing to say the least. You really made me think how it's okay not to question EVERYTHING in the world and pursue it 😅 Hope you do decide on covering the chapters of Part 9, would love to hear your insights more
You get it bro!!! Thanks for letting me know 😎👍
