Hunting and fishing in the Maine outdoors
2024 Bear Bust
When hounds show up in your site, the bears disappear. A disappointing bear season because of someone else's hounds.

October Moose Hunt 2022

I finally had the privilege of hunting a Maine moose, and not guiding a moose hunt. The results were FAST and CLOSE!
Going hunting with my soon-to-be father in law, these tips were helpful!
Nice!
Never shoot until you know it's kill shot.
Congratulations on a great bull. How long did you apply until you drew a tag?
Beautiful moose. Congratulations
You folks have game finding dogs to track down lost game?
They are available in Maine, but we haven't used them.
Dang nabbit❤. Oh God Beautiful!!! ❤ ❤ I ❤❤❤❤
Congratulations fellow hunter! Great Stuff guys! Get-R-Done 🦌 The Vermonter
Congratulations on your moose
Beautiful
This is the first Maine moose hunt video I have seen this season. You boys are setting the bar High...congrats on a fantastic moose. Heading up to Moosehead this week for some bird hunting.
the sub permittee is a douche, you should of left him at home. Nice bull!
Was this zone 1? I think your camping in my spot! One bullet?... come on man! Congrats I head out next week for OC1 Bull zone 1.
Thanks and good luck next week!
I knocked one down yesterday in my local zone, zone 3. 50 inch 750 lbs. He had almost no fat left on him at all
Great job man. Congrats on a nice bear!
Nice black bear! Great representative of a solid average sized black bear. It took like 12 sits going back and forth between two different bait sites before I got my Maine black bear. Mine was a dry sow that dressed 138 pounds. She barely had any teeth and had huge canines and claws. I can’t wait to age her. I’m thinking it’s an old dry sow. She had a big head too. Congratulations on your bear. Have you shot one with a bow yet? This years bear was my 8th and first ever with a firearm. My last 7 were all with my bow. The last two times I’ve hunted bears with a gun I’ve missed. I missed three total. One with the bow and two with gun. Are you an avid black bear hunter? Maybe you can help teach some people on the topic. Maybe share a few tips that will help others get their black bear. Do you have any deer hunting videos up on the channel yet? I’ll go check anyway. Again, great bear!
3030,,, right on guy. Dude is a badass for hunting wit that
Nice work, Eric! Enjoyed taking the virtual journey with you.
Congratulations. Well done.
Thank you!
Excellent job! My guess is that was an older bull? When the antlers droop like that it's a sign of an old animal or so they say and i tend to agree with it. Great job again gentleman! Cheers from Northern Alberta
The state of Maine aged the bull at 8 1/2 years old. Thanks for watchin the video!
Congratulations on the Moose. I know Zone 14 well. It may not have the number of Moose like other zones but it definitely has some smashers. You just got to know where to look and get off the roads like you did.
Hoping to do it again in 14 soon!
@@moyesoutdoors6007 I'd love to get drawn for a Moose permit in this state. It gets frustrating year after year of not getting drawn. 14 is my stomping grounds.
I finally got an October bull tag this year, it took 22 years of applying. Meanwhile I know several people who seem to get drawn every time they’re eligible to apply. I think our lottery system is outdated and needs to be revised. It shouldn’t take 20, 30, or even 40+ years to get drawn for a moose tag in your own damn state.
@shanelizotte6318 I think there should be a lot of changes to Moose Hunting in Maine. First off, I think it should be Residents only. We could even have a quota style hunt. They allow so much for harvest numbers and once the number is reached, hunts over. I think lodge permits should not be a thing. The guides win again while the average sportsmen takes it up the poop shoot with no lube. I've seen lodge permits being auctioned off for 20K plus already this year. As for the lottery, I heard of a Maine resident this year who has 6 Moose permits in their family and they can choose to defer permits for following years if they choose. I saw a post last year, a guy was bragging him and both his kids in the same house got drawn for Moose permits. I think it should be limited to one permit per household if they're going to continue the lottery. Every year I see things that make me question the lottery and rather or not it is rigged.
Hey boss where was this?
Moosehead region in Maine
I am going to handgun hunt one. I will use 44 magnum hot load on a moose. The 44 magnum is a beast caliber.
Nice one! Great job
Great hunt. Congratulations
One would think that a shot like that would put him down where he stood... But great moose...EVERY MOOSE IS A TROPHY.... cheers 🍻
Congrats to all of you. That was exciting, nice and close. Maine moose, great job, glad you caught it in film. Now the work starts, meat in the freezer.
Great stuff guys!
They don't fall in a better place than that. Congrats on the moose!
Great job guys!

Eric, I can't wait for part 2.
