INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR VS EMPLOYEE | Travel Nursing in Canada
Welcome to another video! In this video, I’m diving into some differences between working as an independent contractor versus an employee in travel nursing.
**PSA: I don’t claim to be a tax expert or an expert travel nurse. I have only been a travel nurse for 1.5 years and still learning something new every so often. Please reach out to professionals to make sure you don’t run into any issues and to determine which route is best for you! :) **
In this video, I’ll be touching on the following:
• Pros & Cons I’ve noticed of being an independent contractor
• How to sign as an independent contractor
• Pros & Cons of being an employee to a travel nursing company
• My personal thoughts on these two pathways
Lastly, I’m certain that there’s more to uncover on this topic that I didn’t touch on. So, if there’s anything you want me to touch on further, let me know and I’d love to look into it!
Thanks so much for watching!

Welcome back to another video! This time I have a sit-down, backyard conversation for you on the casual/PRN/per-diem nursing role that I've been in for a couple of years. They help to fill unit needs (e.g. high season, nursing shor...

Welcome back to my channel! Today, I have another hair video here for you guys. I decided to try out a braidout on my RELAXED and DIRTY hair. • @YudyCAM

      Hi! When we’re fully staffed at that rural facility, our care aids only help with max 2 patients and if we aren’t staffed then we’re responsible for all the care. Many of the places I travel to are rural so staffing can definitely be hit or miss!

    Been studying on and off for the past few months, and I'm taking my exam on June 18th. I feel the same way you did, because I know several of my classmates studied for *months* yet I've been slacking. My school provided Kaplan and gosh their CAT exam did *not* make me feel confident. But I've been seeing that a 55% or higher on Kaplan is passing the NCLEX, and I've been getting 58-67%, so I pray and I hope. Mark Klimek is definitely helpful and I'm also using the free trial on U-World. Wish me luck! Hopefully this strat works on the NGN exam too :')

    Hi. In my 4 years of nursing, I’ve only had one opportunity to place an iv. I really want to get proficient in all things iv. Do you think, if I apply, they will train me or not give ve me a chance?

    • @YudyCAM
      @YudyCAM 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I find that’s really common for schools to not really allow too much opportunity for students to get their IV starts - such a disservice to you guys. The clinic I worked at required me to be proficient in IV starts already, no training besides just familiarizing myself with their equipment. I feel like that’s the majority of clinics but it never hurts to ask a specific clinic as everyone does things differently!

      @YudyCAM 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there! I worked for a year in the ER where I had lots of opportunity to get comfortable with my IV starts and managing anaphylactic reactions. But many clinics just want at least a year of nursing experience and experience in starting IVs (some may or may not train you). I just kept looking for online job postings for private infusion clinics and made a few calls around until I landed an interview. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for posting this. I take the NCLEX in a few weeks. I have been uworld since my last semester, but after finishing the bsn my brain is beyond tired and procrastinating and feeling overwhelmed. Uworld now has an option to help you create a study plan based on your test date, but its telling me to spend 8+ hrs per day 7 days a week. My friend has been using Archer, so I got that too and was following their 3 wk study plan, but the videos are soooooo long for just 1 topic. Besides Mark K. Did you use any videos for the system or any exam topics? I tend to get anxious and get too many resources, I loved your video and I'm hoping it works for me too. Pre-reqs, nursing school, NCLEX... its been non-stop, I want to pass on my first attempt, and be able to relax my brain a bit before starting work 🙏🤞

      Hi! I know studying for the exam can be extremely overwhelming so props for pushing through. Besides MK, I watched some videos by @RegisteredNurseRN on specific topics. I get anxious with too many resources as well, that's why I tossed the prep book that I had purchased initially and strictly used MK and UWorld with the occasional RegisteredNurseRN short video.I studied from 6-8 hours a day for 2 weeks straight before my exam, but take all the time you need of course. Best of luck! You got this<3

      @@YudyCAM same, I was doing a nclex prep that seemed good, but every topic seemed to be 1+ hours, for example, SSRI alone was 1 hr, it was taking me too long and I was getting anxious and losing focus. I’m studying 10+ hours per day, sometimes I stay up till 4am without realizing it, but I still don’t feel it’s enough. I haven’t finished all the mark k lectures yet, I’m hoping I can remember most of that info for the exam, I take my nclex in less than 2 weeks 😱. I love your organizing schedule, thank you for sharing it, it’s helping me stay on track a little better. My uworld scores vary from 50 - 80, I did 1 self assessment from uworld and I got a 73% with a high chance of passing, but I got a little worried when it didn’t say “VERY high chance.” Uworld now also has adaptive CAT exams that try to mimic nclex. They stop you at 85 questions, if they considered you passed then, or give you up to 150 questions. Mine stopped at 85 and tells me I’m “on track.” My concern with the actual nclex is not knowing how specific of an answer they’ll require, bc I feel like I know most general things, but no specifics on all topics, and fear I’ll fail bc of that. Did you feel nclex wanted specific answers, like for example, list all the pediatrics vaccines or something like that?

    Hi, I came back to this video because this was one of my motivations as a procastinator who only studied in 2 weeks and today, I passed my NCLEX. I did your suggestions but used entirely Archer Review and just 3 NGN self-assessments of U-World. Thank you!!

    Hi Yudy! First, congratulations!!! I just finished watching your video, I am so close in taking my NCLEX.. and I am sooo scared! I just want to ask how you studied per day? How many Mark K lectures did you do a day? For adult health, how many body systems did you go through a day without feeling burnt out? Thank you!!

      @cassiedarnall9076 Have you been struggling with NCLEX be it LPN or RN, have you taken the exam for more than once? Are you taking it for the first time? Do you have a too busy schedule to study? Get to Dr Luther for your NCLEX assistance. I’m so happy I finally passed my exams thanks to him. He’s got a magical qbank which will help you become a RN

      I'm sure it depends on what province/state you work, but in British Columbia they increased staff RN wages in hospitals this year so I actually started making more working at the hospital than at the IV clinic, which was a change from before. Due to this and wanting to focus more on my ER experience, I decided to leave the clinic. However if you're looking for the flexibility and normal working hours, the IV clinic is still a great option!
