How do i get them to sue. Its 8+ year old debts that are from a payroll advance company. How do I file a defense. Will i need to get a lawyer for this.

I remember this guy. His company at the time called my Manager. I guess he was ok with that at one time, at least.

But I thought one of the things collection agencies were allowed to do was to contact workplace, friends, neighbours, associates to verify contact information. Are you saying they can only do that if they do so anonymously and not identify themselves to whom they call??

Why would an Ontario based debt collector be calling using phone numbers from various provinces. mJR Ontario based company calling from Nova Scotia bc Manitoba and sask numbers. I haven't answered their calls yet. They keep filling my voicemail with empty voicemails (no talking on message)

Is 'settled in full' (SIF) considered equivalent to 'payment in full' on a credit report? You mentioned both terms at different times. Just wanted to know if you were using them synonymously or if there was a legal distinction, ie: with 'SIF' on your credit report, do creditors who access your report know a person settled for less than the full amount and 'payment in full' means they know a person paid the full amount owing?

What if you just dont pay,

I got called by collection agency today about a debt I didn’t knew I had I told the lady “oh I didn’t knew about this card it’s long expired please give me the amount and I will pay it right away” She just got crazy hostile towards me and I am still trying to understand why I think she actually wanted me to not pay so she could give me an earful or something 😂 Poor girl, God bless her soul

In Florida, your homestead property is exempt from all liens from creditors.

I have a question if I pay less than the minimum payments can my creditors sue me

I received a letter from this lawyer at quite an inopportune time. The letter added a lot of stress. I payed all my debts but didn't appreciate his letter. Glad to see his reformation.

What if your small business went under you are now on disability but we’re forced by a commercial landlord to get the first government ceba loan from the government. It was a corp am I personally responsible for it now

Greetings, I've been sidelined due to Epileptic type condition and have no income. Furthermore I'm awaiting a disability filing decision. My condition negated my commercial driving opportunities. I am depending on benevolence and losing sleep on how to pay my creditors. I feel like giving up and need another perspective.

Hi...your video was very helpful. I have a credit card debt that I walked away from a few years ago...just under $5000.00. A debt collection attorney put a lien on my home for the amount owed. Last February 2022 the attorney sent a letter stating they would accept a settlement of $2700. I didn't contact them until last week and now they want almost the entire amount. I'm 61, I have cancer and had bad covid with hospital stay 6 days. My medical Bill's are to the moon!!....I dont know why they aren't more reasonable, I make 27.00/ hr doing hard manual labor ang gas is almost 6/gal...i would be happy if they would go back to their February offer but they are playing hardball now...what can i do???

Thanks so much for the info. Do payments from a consumer proposal restart the clock? For example I was in a consumer proposal, but I have had several account disappear after the 7 years. Due to financial issues I am no longer in a consumer proposal and collectors are now calling. The last payment received from the consumer proposal agency was 4 months ago. Would that have restarted the clock?
