I developed a stammer at the age of 6 and I had a couple of speech therapy sessions via the NHS and it helped. my stammer was here and there whilst I was in primary school. Usually when I'm angry, scared, nervous or really excited about something my speech goes all over the place. Since we were in a nationwide lockdown from march in the UK last year. I didn't get the type of interaction with teachers and friends as I usually would. When we went back to school to start Year 8 in September, I noticed that I just couldn't speak well and i was always prolonging words and repeating a word when i couldn't get my sentence out. my mum noticed and tried to connect with the school and sort me out with that sort of problem. my friends are ok with it but they don't know much abt speech problems and stuff.it has come to the point where i can't read aloud in class anymore. i remember when i was in maths and my teacher asked me to read out the problem and i just couldn't start the sentence and i was frozen sitting there not knowing what to do.one of the trouble makers started sniggering but they obviously didn't realize that i had an issue but that event is forever spinning through my brain and i've stopped reading aloud in class jus so i'm comfortable with it. just wanted to say that i love your videos and you're someone i can relate to so much. thank you :)

Do you have certain words that you stutter on most of the time? Can you do a video on that?

  •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

unless your stutter comes from a physical injury or some kind of physiological trauma, its not brain wiring, its just is what it is.

@@sambhrantdas8716 breathing exercises are key. do them every day . breath in and out from your mouth. 3 seconds in and 3 sec out..relax and imagine your body relaxing and removing any stress from you. do this especially when your going to do a talk thing like before a phone call or going the shops. and slowly day by day you will find things a bit easier. hope this helps..

The ability to laugh at yourself helps so much. Think about it from their perspective, they are used to speaking and communicating at a certain level of speed and here we come along and throw that entire... foundation out the window. ALL OF THEM ARE NERVOUS, most of them don't want to mess up, they don't want to finish our sentences and they desperately don't want to laugh. I learned in my teens, if I am going to live with this, I have to lighten up man! LoL! I had this HUGE chip on my shoulder and then met some great people who were totally open about their discomfort and why they was always so nervous... They were worried about hurting me. Once I figured that out and looked at it from their perspective, I began to make jokes about it, put them at ease, let them know that it was OKAY and occasionally, it is alright to laugh with me when I get REALLY stuck or just completely drop a word simply to move the conversation along. Remember loves, YOU SET THE MOOD... while you are sitting there freaking out about how you are going to set up the phrasing and worrying about stumbling words... They are freaking out about how you see them, what you think of them... Now, go forth and be awesome or at least weird.

As I recall, you were more than apt on the back of a horse, born in the seat as I remember, how has the horseback riding been going? Hopefully this weirdness and quarantine has not deprived you of something you are so good at.
