Trying to get the 202 going again. Battery threw in the towel too early.
One more lap

Another lap in the Torana. Sam seems to be having fun. Standard Torana brakes don't take much abuse though. Three laps and the pedal is mushy and smoke is pouring out of the front wheels.

Reluctant to post this. I found the drive frustrating with too much traffic to give it WOT.
355 Start up and running at last

After all this time and trouble, put it in, rip it out, replace bearings and oil pump twice. Finally now running with no leaks. Big shout out to Dad, Rob Balaz and Elena for your support. :-)

Last Dyno run of the day. As the dyno operator said, a great motor! Holden 355 Stroker, Crane CCH314 camshaft, Yella Terra Dash 3 Alloy heads, Holley 750 double pumper carby and ICE ignition.

@ChrisMondey-s3v Put the log tray on the opposite side to what I first did. I got it wrong and it works better on the other side.

Hey mate. Nice splitter. Where are you located?

@projectswithbangers Down in Victoria. We live on the outskirts of Melbourne, but also have a rural property in the Wimmera near Horsham. That's where the splitter was working.

Yeah that'd be the place to explore it. Never driven a car that you can't nail the accelerator in a straight line without fear .... until now. More work to be done first, well I know I don't have to tell you that my friend.

Hi Griff. Well, errr, umm..... After the dyno run I had to fix an oil leak coming from the inlet manifold. The front spacer was too tight so I machined it down a little more, put it all back together. Time went by, I finally sold my old motor and gearbox. That funded the new gearbox. So I can now put the new motor in. But had trouble idling and then had trouble maintaining oil pressure. Borrowed a mechanical gauge, tried all kinds of tricks to prime the JP HV oil pump. Then got a standard Holden pump, did the mods you did. Went to install it and I found fibre traces on the filter. The smoking gun.... Borrowed a camera to look in the sump, drained the oil, for the second time. Uh oh... lumps of red fibres coming out of the drain plug. So out came the engine. I'd left a cloth over the valley when I put the inlet manifold back on. It worked it way down past the camshaft between cylinders 3&4, then got mulched into a trillion pieces by the bottom end. Blocking the oil pickup. You can imagine how many hours it took to clean up that mess. Luckily the oil filter didn't block and go into bypass mode. Conrod bearings didn't look too good so I replaced them. Mains were not like new, but serviceable. New gasket$ required. I'm using Felpro 1076-1 head gaskets, not cheap. I ditched the JP and put on the modded Holden pump. All back in. Did the priming using my little gadget.(See other vid)Started up, good oil pressure, but dripping onto the garage floor. I failed with the re-surfacing part of the modification. I think I went too far with it and my hand motion was rocking too much. So I went to the wreckers yesterday and got another pump. Rebuilt that, same mods except gave the resurfacing a miss and kept the filter bypass in situ as the welsh plug size on this pump is different. Started up, good oil pressure, no dripping onto the garage floor. Next drama is to get the clutch to bleed properly. Another day. My mate Rob may come to the rescue with a bleeding gadget. Cheers, Steve.

Ruppy House wowzers steve, the ol rag trick haha, dont worry happened to me too, was changing manifold put a rag in dizzy hole thinking not wanting any dust gtting in lol, then put manifold on, put dizzy back in yea forgot rag, took it out the road lost oil pressure... Your right a trillion pieces, its a hard lesson.. Well im glad you got it sorted, its a lovely hatch you got there.. cheers Griff...

Yeah, let me give you the tip, leaving a rag in to linish your crankshaft doesn't work.
