This is a final montague of some images I've taken through the makeover of our 1995 Mk5 'Smiley'. These are such an under explored Westfalia and a real gem of a camper. The Westfalia LT Florida is the jewel in the crown of the classic Westfalia's. The T3 seemed to be the star of the show in the 80's & 90's era but the real off grid adventurer bought a Westfalia LT Florida!

Cleaning the 1986 Joker ready for the next owner is always a satisfying job. Especially after the worries and concerns of COVID it's nice to know the bus is as clean as a whistle!

So I thought the front repair was a mission. The rest was a campaign! Looking good now though and nearly ready for refinishing which will be in Part 3 (coming soon)

We couldn't believe the fantastic originality of this old girl when we collected her. Purchased and owned from new by the same family but now on its way back to the UK for a bit of love and care to be completely restored and brought back to 'out of the box' condition.

Hi, easily 250hrs has gone into restoring her. I love to take them back to original specification but this was very much original anyway.

No it was fitted with factory power steering. Not sure how much of a job it would be but I think it would be possible.
Retrofitting servo support in my LT31 from 1985, 2.4 DL, was possible without any problems = th-cam.com/video/755Dlh-MNWE/w-d-xo.html. Of course you need all the parts of a dispenser.

Hi tehdreamer, yes it was a great machine. Unfortunately met its maker during the LT resto so had to be replaced with an all singing all dancing GYS synergic unit.
Wow!! Great! I'm doing the big side panel right now, I had to take all my cabinets apart inside to be able to weld :( how long did it take you for all the lower panels?
I don t want to even think about how long it took to be honest. I made sure all of the insulation was out of the way before welding. And the way the interior is designed in the Florida you can remove the box section by the seats and get in for fire watch!
Wow amazing work on the front! I am doing the same on my or 35 and it was a bugger trying to get all panels fitted! Great fabrication of the middle panel! I left mine rotten and sprayed waxoil everywhere... Was too much work
