Where’s the alternator? lol damn I’m about to build something really close to this but want it to be steerable I been wondering where the best place for a 76mm turbo would be
It’s down low on the drivers side. I had to drill the block to make some treads and then used a relocation kit but wasn’t ment for the drivers side. I had to use the shims and reverse the plates and it’s preset so it’s tough putting a belt.
Jegs and others sell new t400 cases machined for that bell housing sfi approved
Structurally it's ok where you cut off too much. How did you determine that.
For me, I went and did a stage five upgrade on the transmission with Fti and they were OK with it and so far I have done trans brake launches with 1200 hp and it hasn’t broken yet.
Cool, mine look like cast marks at the cut spot.ill check my other 2
I hope it does! Will make it easier for sure
Damn
Stock Chevy bell cases are getting harder to find. If you're going to cut a bell off, cut up a BOP case. Pre '76 BOP cases are stronger and use all of the pump bolts.
What part number was the bell housing you use,,was it for stock mounts and depth ,,,also in one of your other vids you had a red front pump shaft plastic cover,, where did you get it and what’s the part number Any help would be greatly appreciated Big ole taterhead
J.W. Performance Ultra-Bell Bellhousings 92451 Now understand this is for a small block Chevy and th400… All depends on what motor you are using and also what transmission th400/350? Or is it for a ls or ford or dodge?? That all makes a difference on what part number. The red plastic cover I actuall got when I had the transmission built by Fti converters in Florida and you can find them on amazon. Google Universal Transmission Plug Stop-Off
It’s a th350 and I also have a Jw 400,,thinking of modifying also what starter do you use,, I have a skip white 434 the starter seems to turn on the slow side
@@Taterhead3e then that part number will work for you and you can get from summit racing.
I know it's been a little bit, but I'm having an issue with mine. Not getting spark or injectors. Running on a lq4 along side ez-efi. The status light on the XIM box is blinking and from what I saw in the manual is some kind of flash mode. But I checked that cable and it has not grounded. Also power drained and everything. Can't seem to figure out what's going on. But I think that flash might be trying to tell me there is some kind of error. Has been running for the last year really well. Just decided to call it quits one day to take it out and no chooch
I would seriously check the grounds and or clean them and go over board! I had many issues previous and also burnt up Xfi and xim box because low battery and bad grounds! I can help more but try that
@@Turbo8secondz28 ill give that a try this afternoon and see what results I get, thank you for the response!
Just have richard at precision trans in ammarrillo do it he the best builder around
Putting th400 in my 800wheel street car 11 5.0. I am done with manuals. This will be my daily driver 9sec street car. Th400 is so fcking badass and practically unbeatable off the line. I already have one in my 700hp 68 mustang street car and its crazy fast. Th400 is awesome transmission for speed and fun.
so did you have any issue ensuring the bell housing was square on the mating surface to the motor, with the high and low spots of the cut and tight and loose gaps ?
Negative because as long as the bell housing is bolted up to the pump flush the distance from there to the meeting surface should be perfect! now if you don’t take enough material and try bolting to the pump and it’s not flush, the. There will be an issue. Basically there should be a slight gap between the bell housing and the area where you cut the factory bell housing if you get me? Not much, use a feeler gauge.
I cut both a TH 400 and a TH 350 off it was easy but its best to cut a little at a time when you get close to the actual measurement, then test fit your ultra bell and adjust, both of mine came out beautiful , if anyone cuts to much as long as it doesn't affect performance no big deal because you can always use a heavy duty silver or grey caulking for cosmetic appearances once your bell is attached to your transmission and pump!
So you can change from ls xim x24 to ls xim x58? Do you need to buy the wire harness for that particular setup?
You will need to make sure the crank sensor and make sure you change from a 12v ref to a 5v on the pigtail. Also will need to change the switches (pins in back of dim), if that’s all your changing is the crank and not cam but if it’s both then there will need to be more done
So probably be better to get the right xim for the application? You can't just change the wire harness for a quick fix?
@@americanfamiliesfirst2790 do not need to get another harness!! First off I have no clue what you have and what your changing? From what you said was you have a ls 24x motor now and want to switch to 58x correct? So my question is, are you going to a gen4 ls (58x) or staying with a gen3 (24x) but just swapping cranks??
From a x24 to a x58. Car had a ls1 going with the ls3.
@@americanfamiliesfirst2790 ok is the new motor a 1x or a 4x cam signal?
Thanks for the video I have the same transmission but it’s a 3speed reverse valve body and I have to order the ultra bell housing
No problem ! There wasn’t not one video on TH-cam for this when I made mine but now there’s a few and some have perfected it for sure
Also if I'd doesn't work I called on the phone. You have to scrape off any residue since it can detect one touch a a time. Or unscrew the bottom two screws and get the dust out
How did you fix it
If you watch the video I tell you lol but I guess since you don’t like to watch or give thumbs up I’ll tell ya. You will need to re-calibrate so hold the screen turn it on I give it power do not let off the screen until it turns white and then it will come up with a way to re-calibrate
@@Turbo8secondz28 thanks I saw the video, just didn't understand the directions. I saw you turned your car on and it started working. I don't have any buttons. The other video just has you turning on the car and it works👍
@@DocterGordon so did you get it to work?
@@Turbo8secondz28 yeah recalibrating it made the finger prints be sensed but they were touching the wrong spot. Removed the bottom two screws and there was sand trapped underneath. Removed that and now the touch screen works🙏
How'd you do it? Mines frozen too
don't just like my comment😂, please write some help
So all I do is press down on the screen and start the car?
Also thank you ahead of time👌
Hell yeah, I called them on the phone. I removed the two screws on the bottom use compressed air to get rid of the dust. Used a credit card. Then held the middle of the screen. Now it's working🙏
i just started watching, as I want the info on the 2 extra bolt holes. but that scribed part isnt on stock trans, JW must have done that when they built it originally. And one of my trans's the builder did the other 2 bolts. I need to get the one i am doing now the other 2 as 4 digit whp probably wants it haha. you did a great job describing things, I did mine all with the cut off wheel of grinder. 2 cuts and i have plenty of clearances. those 3 tabs also got me at first. but, since i already have one trans with the bell installed, i had a reference to constantly look at, and i did a fair bit of that.
Thanks! As far as the 2 extra holes you mention I think you mean the mounting holes on the pump? So I get this question a lot and there are 2 types of pumps 6 bolt and 8 bolt and I can tell you this that those have no reflect to hp the bell housing holds that trans to the engine and the mount in the rear holds it down And center. Power is transferred through the Torque converter and through the shaft to the hub and clutches and then to the output shaft it’s NOT putting what some think is tons of twist or pressure on those mounting bolts.
How about those headers?.. I need a set for lt1
They are custom one off headers for my turbo kit
@@Turbo8secondz28 what would be the cost for another set of headaches?...
@@dmlandscapedesignllcatlant8093 was a full custom hot side turbo kit snd was $5500 all stainless steel at the time from a turbo company
@@Turbo8secondz28 awesome what's the name of the company I've got a 1575hp lt1 and want the car to look remaining stock Lamar Walden out of Doraville ga built my motor and Rossler helped with mad dog on the 4l80 now just need to get the turbo side down and ir I'm just gonna throw a f1 on it
how much did this cost??
Way more than I wanted lol I’m ls 6.0 now and I still loved my lt1 got me into the 8’s. The block machine work was about $1k then had to clearance the stroker myself which took 2 weekends because you have to assemble and check and de assemble till it’s perfect and the crank was $2k the rods I think were $1k and pistons about $900. The afr heads were $2500 non of this is including the turbo kit or the fast xfi stand alone ecu and xim. I’m shaking my head thinking about it lol
Omg thanks man. My 75 280Z says thanks also.
Alot of my friends tell me i cant use the rubber line .. cool video.. i know now
You can pull the pump off and see if the case has the extra 2 holes for the pump. Sometimes they do and only use the 6 just flip the pump body over and you can see where they are supposed to be drilled all the way thru
I thought an adapter has to be used and the pump machined to the adapter to fit the bell housing on properly?
What’s your combo? As far as my application sbc,ls1,lt1 this is all you need
what does the ultra bell housing do ?
The Cookie Man it’s sfi approved and is stronger than oem
@@Turbo8secondz28 👍🏾
@@Turbo8secondz28 i been building transmissions for a while but I only build them for friends and I wanted to ask you I don’t think is a good idea for the bell housing to screw in the oil pump plus I think is going to be weaker cause is not a one piece?

Not sure but i really wanted to buy shaft mount rockers on my gen2 lt1 . is that your gen
silly guy ya but any good ones are very expensive and unless your spinning 7500 plus rpm solid roller or so I wouldn’t waste your money
@@Turbo8secondz28 yea everyone says that. I probably will use a th350. The shaft mount rockers that you are using are they for those heads or will they fit any head
silly guy you would have to contact t&d or whoever you go with and get the right offset spacing for what gear your using because they vary! I would spend the $1500-2k in other areas unless you building a very high rpm and spring pressure kind of motor if not your pissing you money away .
Man that was a great video thanks 👍
Did the same with mine, zip saw disc for your grinder. Watch your pan rails too.
@Hunter Connor Hacking your girlfriend's Instagram or installing an Ultrabell?
I see its been 8 years since this build. How did it work out? Did it hold up for long ? Did it turbo you into the 8's? Im building a supercharged one. '95 trans am would be happy with mid 9's
poncoolride well the motor held up till last year and it made it into 8s with lots of no time hits along with track hits and dyno time and street hits lol I made few changes along the way but the engine it self stayed the same! I just put a sbe 5.3 with a btr stage 4 turbo cam and will let it ride to 25-28psi and if it goes I’m building a 6.0 block to go all out on. Sad to leave the lt1 but it was time she was good I bent a billet rod and leaned out and burned the heads some my tune was for ignite 114 which is e90 and then went e85 got a crap batch and my ethanol sensor went bad and well it went lean.
How easy is it to use this setup on a 90s lincoln mark 8 4.6? With a carb conversion
Frank Elizarraraz Cornejo you would need the specific ford 4.6 harness and since your carb you also would have to use the efi sensors for crank and cam signal but it’s fairly easy to me. But if you don’t know anything about electronics or engines could be slow at first but the instructions will guide you well and there is always tech support. Are usually tell people if you were able to set up an Msd Ignitions box back in the day or now you should have no problem with this.
Is ur bottom end built? You said itll rev to 7800!? I have a 94 firebird with 24x ignition and a few other mods. I love it! Good luck
Adam Weaver yes it’s built and I actually got rid Of the opti cam sync went to Msd cam sync and loved that way more but after years of 12-25lbs of boost and tons of runs I got a bad batch of e85 well let’s say I’m ls now lol
@@Turbo8secondz28 oh ill be going that route eventually but lt motors arent a bad starter. My firebird is the first project car ive had and Im just now getting into the internals. Im currently working on a Cam swap, which means a spring and lifter swap , porting the heads and intake with added twin 58 TB. Then ill top it off with a dyno tune.
Adam Weaver sounds like a good start!
Bub..you should have gotten a 7 bolt or 8 bolt case. Also..you could have drilled and tapped one more bolt anyways, however you would have to do this prior to installation of the front pump.
Warren Watts Just to let you know th400 cases are the same specs now the pump is what’s different you could go out and buy a different pump that would be the better thing to do than to drill and tap but not needed I’ve done five of these are ready and also brought my transmission to FTI did level five upgrade now and I’m pushing 985 rwhp though it so no issues And I trans break launch 5k the power is transferred through the shafts not the bell housing
@@Turbo8secondz28 , wrong...8 bolt cases are available bub
Warren Watts the pump is the difference between them the case is the same!! I am right ftiperformance.com/TH400-high-Volume-Pump-6-Bolt-8-Bolt-F4045X.htm
Cases are different you can run a 8 bolt pump in any case but if the case doesn't have the other 2 bolt holes defeats the purpose. Having a 8 bolt case is recommended not saying this won't work.
They say there are pros and cons to either a 6 or 8 bolt pump but im with you , i have a TH400 AND TH350 and both of them are 8 bolt pumps, im from the school of more is better and stronger!!!!!!!!!
Circular saw will cut it not good on saw but i cut aluminum pipe with one all the time
Robert Husk I have used a circular saw for of course many other things and it cuts aluminum really good but the pump and bolts are soo close you have to make sure you don’t hit them! But I can’t see why you couldn’t I just never did
I thought they said these couldn't be used with pumps and cases with less that eight bolts?
the nitro man yes it can! Even states in the directions. As you can see it works , it’s been working on my eight second Camaro ever since
@@Turbo8secondz28 that's good to know. I know I read that somewhere.
the nitro man You can search online and get a PDF of the instructions and kind of read them over before you even attempt to buy or even put it on
If u remove the pump the stator side "backside" of pump usually has the 8 bolt pattern already the front half of the pump usually has 6 so u simple drill the front half of tye pump to match the stator side and u will have all 8 bolts as intended even with a 6 bolt pump design
Whats heads you runnin?
booski brooks I’m running afr heads! They are the best....
Cool shit. I'm considering Trick Flows for my Impala to keep the compression around 9.4. It's gonna be a 383 and either an S480 or twin 5871"s from UPP.
booski brooks trick flows are ok but afr’s will give best results I have a set for sale and shaft rocker with studs and pushrods and valve covers and all
Booskibrooks@gmail.com Specs on the heads (runner sizes, combustion chamber sizes, valves etc) and the cam ran with it. Also location and price as well.
booski brooks just sent you an email!!!
Thanks for the video, so which one would you recommend?
Z32 akm I would suggest braided rubber over the poly braided!!!! it’s easier and can almost Guarantee it won’t leak. Poly line uses crush fittings and the 2 halves tend to strip when you tighten down and unless you have a kit like I have to test psi, you won’t know if they leak until they are installed. When I originally started this build which is now a different build but back then most your rubber hose wasn’t rated for e85 and a lot of peoples want you to stay away from it due to the fact they thought it a clogged injectors which could have but almost everything today is rated for e85. Hope this helps or you can email me
Doing this tonight can you tell me the size of the bolts you used? My jw is pre owned and didn’t come with bolts
Lamb Chop I don’t know the size but this should help plus you have to have O-rings static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/jpt-92450.pdf

So the xim controls what? Coil? And xfi fuel?
jesus saldivar the xim box controls the coils yes and the xfi box Controls everything else and they both connect to each other but you could use the xim standalone!
Show us more on the unit
jesus saldivar what would you like to know and see ?
How to wire it up properly
jesus saldivar first thing is read the instructions completely and follow it as well! It’s not hard at all The harness will have your typical positive and negative and have to go directly to the battery no where else no distribution block or some sort 100% to the battery!! That is 99% of the time the problem and the grounds are usually the next issue just letting you know. Other than that the harness if you pick the right one for your application should be plug-and-play into your coils and if you are using with the fast xfi box you will need to connect the com cables which is very easy too. From there you will have to open the back and make sure the dip switches are set to your application. If your using as a stand alone there will be some wiring for it to see crank signal to know when to fire the coils
Do you want to sell that motor and turbo setup?
