Good Omens 2 - does the story stack up against the first season?
มุมมอง 1Kปีที่แล้ว
While the first season of Good Omens, on Amazon Prime Video, had the benefit of a well-constructed novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman to riff on, its sequel has a half-remembered storyline from over 30 years ago that was never turned into a pamphlet, let alone a novel. Does it suffer as a result?
Forget Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, how would I have written the fifth film in the series?

Folks, there was a better way. Just a little understanding of what fans actually like about Indiana Jones in the first place, and some simple changes to the script and characters, could have seen a MUCH better fifth installment for the franchise. This isn't rocket science stuff. It will never happen but... ahhhhhh... what could have been, eh? Something EVERYONE would have enjoyed.

NINE TIMES 'The Doors' movie by Oliver Stone made stuff up, according to Robby Krieger
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
Robby Krieger's excellent memoir, 'Set the Night on Fire' is a must-read for any self-respecting Doors aficionado. One chapter in particular caught my attention, where Krieger talks about the Oliver Stone film, 'The Doors' and not only all the things he likes about it, but all the times the film invented things to be more exciting and push the narrative along. I found the list quite interesting...

Thanks for this video. I'm afraid I have to disagree with the producers' choice of giving Bond the Omega. In the book On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Bond uses a Rolex Oyster Perpetual as a knuckle duster along with a Gillette razor and a sharpened pencil through the fingers of his left knuckle as weapons. If you can afford it, the Rolex has always been Bond's watch of choice. It just goes to show that the producers have lost all essence of the character of James Bond for a number of years now.

I don't know if you have looked the story up more since you made this video. In the book, the soldiers of the Empire don't wear French Foreign Legion outfits they wear lacquer armor suggesting they are Chinese or Japanese. Commentators have argued that the geography most resembles Xinjiang near Lop Nur lake, one of the few regions Europeans didn't directly colonize in the colonial era. On the other hand, other features of the story such as Joll's name do suggest the Empire is European. Ultimately that will always probably remain a mystery Coetzee isn't one for sharing his secrets.

For me it wasnt neccessarily about Diana & Maggie (as great as they are) but the over the top comedy of Sylvia Miles and those outrageous ensembles she wears, I for one came away remembering Sylvia the most, even though they were ALL faaaabulous! (AND of course JANE BIRKINS SCENE STEALING CATWALK DOWN THE STAIRCASE AT THE END!) but Sylvia was incredible, and hats off to the Casting Dept for getting her ! Finally, me especially LOVES that scene where she butts out her cigarette into the oranges as Arlena carries on about Patrick rowing her right around the island 'Poor darling hes absolutely exhausted' BAHAHAHA and the sour face she pulls (classic scene which had the whole cinema in fits of laughter!)

It's this movie wich made me discovered The doors and made me buy all their albums and cassetts and books. Before I saw this movie, and nevered heard about them and Jim, I nevered even listen their musics. This movie blasted me totaly when I saw it on casset in 1991. I didn't even knew that Jim was death , so when I saw him death in the bath at the end and his grave and bust with the howsome Didajo song , I totaly freaked out man, I was in total choc like never before in my life. This movie is a masterpeace and nothing less. It's totaly art man. And fuck, it changed my life totaly. Contrary to Manderek who wanted to pouch Oliver Stone, this movie didn't distroy Jim's image and reputation at all : it's elevated Jim to a God man.

Well, I am into in WW 1 airwarfare since I was a little boy and I absolutely with your opinion. It’s a pity, that this Hollywood parts disturbing the real good made movie. Some of the shown characters around Richthofen also exists. Werner Voss (the one actually flew with a big Heart on his plane) for example. He actually build a caputured engine in his triplane and spend most of the time working on his plane. But, he was at the age of 20 very young, as he was shot down. Guess he has been the better or equal fighter pilot. At the point of his death his score has been 48 kills. Richthofens score has been 49 this day. They fought totally different. And he and Richthofen spend the most time of their career in different Jastas (Jagdstaffel). He has been the Leader of the Jasta 10, while Richthofen leads the Jasta 11. His last airfight he fought 7(!) enemy fighter planes, managed to shoot down some of them. (Quote of McCudden, one of his opponents in this fight and a british ace himself) He was awesome. Another actor with a nightcap also exists and he has always been flying with is nightcap, cause it was his lucky charm. He was killed the first time he forgot to put it on. And Hermann Göring (the later known as the air chief of the Nazi-Luftwaffe) took over leading Jasta 11 after Richthofens death. very good and close to accuracy made movie. But somehow a little bit ruined by the Hollywood parts. In fact Richthofen never met Brown, wich also was a much lower skilled fighter pilot. He just has been lucky. And yes, Richthofen starts to realize, starts to doubt the sense of this war and wanted to stop fighting in the last weeks of his life, because of all the losses of friends and death and pain he has seen so far. In some ways he has been tired and sick of it all. There are sources that confirm that.

Awesome video 👏 thank you. 0:39 Connery watches are quite interesting. That Breitling Top Time was lost then turned up in a jumble sale decades later. Bought for a few pounds and sold at auction for 5 figures i think. Apparently the Gruen precision was just Connerys daily watch and he just wore it in the film. Nothing to do with marketing. Also it's rumoured that his rolexes belonged to Fleming and he leant them to Connery

I just watched this movie online. Well, I don't think this movie had its screening in my country (in South East Asia), though I am glad it was filmed in English. I wish this could have been dubbed in German with English subtitles. And I am glad they used German actors instead of Hollywood, at least I get to know new faces from those who I always see on movies. I have a mixed feeling about this movie, though I like the very first scene a lot, whereby von Richthofen and his 3 comrades flew in just to drop a wreath with a cute note for their fallen foe. And only to get scolded when they reached their base. While the movie emphasised and fantasised a lot of romantic scenes between von Richthofen and the nurse, Kate which doesn’t sit well with me, I tried to enjoy till the last minutes of the movie. I wish they could portrayed von Richthofen more aloof after his head injury and lost of many his personally tutelaged pilots and comrades, instead of being a pacifist, expressing more hatred towards continuous wars and fatigue he experienced from non-stop flying, how he hated the wars and his superiors were not listening to him when he told them Germany wasn't going to win the war, how his fighting spirit still fired up and went to do his job for the country and the people despite knowing he would not be coming back alive. The ending wasn't any interesting as I was looking forward for his full military honour funeral. The final fight was not there, the burial was not there either. Still can be enjoyed. I prefer the 1971's von Richthofen and Brown better.

I’ve owned the automatic professional chronometer version you mentioned since 2001, when I bought it new upon starting my first professional job to mark the occasion. It’s been lovingly taken care of and held on to ever since. And yes, the Bond factor was a small part of my decision to buy it, as I am a big fan. I agree about the bracelet as well. It not only has always been very comfortable, but I love the almost woven look to it over some more chunky linked bracelets. I actually do like the look of the newest iteration of this watch a little better, but I’ve had my watch so long now that I just can’t seem to part with it. To say nothing of costs having risen significantly. I mainly wear it for special occasions, or when I’m in a controlled environment where I know I wouldn’t be rough with it. So as such, I’ve only had it professionally serviced by Omega just once. Thankfully, with just service now being around $600-$700. I’ve always planned on buying a Speedmaster on a particular occasion that hasn’t come yet, but it’s going to be difficult with costs having gone up so much.

How could an acclaimed movie Pro like Stone get so many facts incorrect? Extremely insulting to the actual people who were there.

Can you give links to all Ustinov Poirot films please? Thanks for these clips! I think it wasn’t given the full film budget that DOTN had...and also tv types director/ producer - the beginning of the 70's crap naff dumming down of standards in films

Unstinov is Poirot...so subtle, a European, Nonchalant! I likd David Suchet, but Ustinov has almost lived the life of Poirot and it comes across!

Death In The Nile with Ustinov is stunning! (apart from the poor donkeys abused in that place). But, Stunning cast, script, scenery, direction

Im watching it now I was crazy about this movie when it came out. The worst part of this movie is the script. It's unbelievable how bad it is. Just about every character he speaks to recites doors lyrics in their conversations with him. Its ridiculous

Angela Lansbury was such a hoot in this, and I thought Mia gave an amazingly strong performance.
