Olivia and Elayna – Adoption Story
In 2002, despite already having three sons, Stephen and Danielle Walker knew their family wasn’t complete. So, they looked into the idea of adoption. Drawn to the Hispanic culture, they began to pursue adoption from El Salvador. However, a road block in the process turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it led them to twin sisters in Guatemala, who were only one month old. Although Steve and Danielle knew that these girls were meant to be their daughters, the obstacles they would have to overcome in order to bring them home would test their faith.

Just a normal day at my friend's pool, having fun with my Sony Action Cam, brother and two other friends. And yes the water-proof case works... Sorry this video probably won't be viewable on mobile devices because of the song I used so watch it on a computer later.

Mention “God” and I stop watching. I’m fed up with pushy Christian Dominionism.

Why do folk ask adopted parents if they have “real” children, what are adopted children? fake😢. I am an adoptee.

I admire families who adopt but I’ve noticed so many are Christian and very strongly so. They take in a child and that child has no option but be Christian. I would like to see adoption being a non religious thing. The agency and the families should be non religious in my opinion , and the child can choose for itself as it gets older.

TEACH YOUR DAUGHTERS THEIR HISTORY. Keep their records open so they can easily find their bloodline someday. I was adopted from Mexico, raised by white people in Ohio. My childhood was BS, racism and trauma. You as white people need to make sure they learn the language of their origin. Make sure they are raised around people from their country of origin. That is their culture. Parents of transracial adopted children have a HUGE responsibility to protect these kids. Your daughters are not white. Do not them like your white kids. DON’T treat them like white kids. And don’t EVER say you “don’t see color”. Saying that is insulting to us. If you don’t see our color, don’t adopt us. Dear GOD, do not white-ify your Latina girls. I have spent 30 effing years in therapy undoing the damage of my upbringing. Understand your girls WILL go through sh1t you will never understand. PREPARE THEM. I am 50 and I have no contact with my adopted mother, by my choice today. Yeah, I resent my upbringing THAT MUCH. Stop with the white savior narrative. Be better parents and give them their culture, do not rob them of that.

I've been looking after 3 siblings, they're my sister's. They have been going through abuse and poverty. I've been trying to take them with me but I'm too young, mentally and financially unstable and I'm considering giving them for adoption. It breaks my heart to think I'd be giving them away but a horrible future is waiting for them if they stay with their mom. Life in Guatemala is hard, even getting a house for rent has been difficult and I've lost hope. Seeing these kids in filth breaks my heart, I wish a couple like this would adopt them. Children happiness should not be negotiable and if there's something I could do to make them happy I will of course do it.
