The Vale is such a surreal place, it was once inhabited, but it has been so many years since civilization has touched the Vale. Aside from the two snow elves, there is nobody else there. In mainland Skyrim, even the most barren places have a few people, such as the graybeards at the throat of the world, and the Skall village. In the Vale, it's empty, just you and Serana. It is that barren aspect that makes the Vale so both haunting and peaceful at the same time. It's one of my favorite places in Skyrim.

I am recovering from a spinal surgery and am learning to walk with partial paralysis in one of my legs. To ward off muscular atrophy, I have to constantly be moving my legs using my main muscles and letting the ones without nerve access go through the motion. I walk A LOT. This song always gets me through the hardest times when I really don't want to do it and am sore asf. Thank you for making it. I've listened start to finish more times than I can count and the final strum at the end is the most satisfying sound in the world because it means I can relax.

The song is sad when you think about the whole story, Arthur dying just for Jack to be on the run from Pinkertons for rest of his life, Dutch slowly going insane probably turning into a cannibal. and you think after all of this it’s a good ending. But then rdr1 happens. There was never a happy ending. Micah’s death caused jack to live alone the rest of his life, and the story of the Vanderlinde gang was over.
