what's the purpose of the shart bucket on top
What do you mean the water hopper for engine cooling
almost 80 years and still working ;)
Don't make them like this anymore unfortunately will last for ever
love to see them rusty n running , nice one nearly got same trolley as me too lol 👍👍
Thank you for your nice comments
Great to see the engine running! It will certainly govern better if you can stop it rocking back and forth, any such movement tends to overcome the action of the inertia governor.
Thanks Philip a bit of fine tuning will sort it. Yes the rocking does upset the inertia governor.
Thank you
a beauty !
Thank you
that thing is saying "ive seen better days, guys! now lube me up please and use leaded fuel!" lol
it's a gas engine running of bottled gas. And there was no leaded petroleum spirit when this engine was made.
It is now we have it running
that sounds pretty relaxing
sick beat
Two early around 1910 American engines used to drive mostly farm machinery
Что это
She sounds so sweet. Beautiful engine
Thank you
Long time ago I started on a Takisawa TX-1 with Fanuc 5T ( tape-reader/puncher ) without screen, only X-Z read-out + simple display for some codes. followed by a Takisawa Production 210 with Fanuc 6T, also no screen, only X-Z read-out + simple display for some codes, well it had an extra RS232. We had also Takisawa mills with Fanuc 5M and 6M controllers, all Japanese, not the Asian Takisawa's, rigid and high tolerance machines. Do you still have that Takisawa, I see the turret rotating one direction, lots of people don't know the M18 code for reverse rotation. In the same line with the toolnumber, f.e. M18 T0100. 😉, BTW I programmed the first lines like you did, setting tools was a bit pain in the _ss.
Yes still got the machine and used most days,it's on its third motor rewind rebuild ....1980 dated lathe I am the only person to operate program it, I have operated it since new.
Never realised M18 reversed the turret will give it a go..thanks for tip.
@@rogergurney If I see correctly you have a Model 310, on our Model 210 it was M18 followed by the toolnumber without comp, something like M18 T0100, should work on yours as well, let's hope soo. We had some issues on main motor with revving up and down rpm's, weak bearings, rotor hit stator when speeding up or down. Greetings from the Netherlands. 😉
Yes it's a production 310 with Fanuc control. We had very bad arcing on the commutator before it's last motor rewind it did 15 years work before that repair, fitted a new hydraulic main motor a few years back.My boss tells me he is going to give me lathe has a retirement present.😊
@@rogergurney Well, .... do at least all the repairs needed before that last day. 😉😀 On average, they are solid machines with very good tolerances, well without abnormal abuse, regardless of age.
Hi Roger finally after a long restoration my Avon dragsaw is up and running!! th-cam.com/video/N_xsQUpsRT8/w-d-xo.html
that machine has got to be 40 years old?
Built 1980 so yes 44 years old
Just make it so much better.. I used to work with a grindingmachine that was 70 years old, but precise as nothing else.
Add a turbo
Check your shower.
It’s a bit of a hit or miss.
I bet if you rubbed that oil can a genie would come out 😅 very cool stuff.
I am sure it would 😀
No sorry not my engine but would have been good to see it working the machinery.
Very nice! Would have liked to have seen the root chopper running but I don't suppose you could have done anything about that.
I show love
A video with information about this would be interesting; such as year of manufacture, whether it generates continuous or alternating energy…
I watched thousands of videos but I've never seen anything like it! impressive!
Thank you for your kind words and advice I will do a video explaining about my early motor 👍
Chatter dont matter
Just found your channel and Subscribed. Very nice engine
Thank you
Fantastic , what is a winnowing machine do for a fellah ?
It blows chaff and rubbish straw of the corn
It cleans the corn
Looks like Casterton, Lincolnshire.
Yes this year's casterton
Love to see those early machines. Sorry but diesel Majors,Dextas,135's, B275's, 4000's aren't interesting. P/P & semi diesels do it for me
Yes like the very early tractors
🚂😁
Do not do this with the door open without coolant.
It was just for demonstration purposes I did switch coolant on at end of video also the door was shut immediately after filming. Thanks for your interest
Wow thats slow
It's slow but gets job done only machine very small batches has long has metal chips I am happy and i get good tip life thanks for watching.
@@rogergurney what speed and feed is that on the drill?
@@James-ly3rx 300 rpm.002 thou a rev ..en24t gear material. 16 inch chuck 14 inch dia bar.
That will do 500 and 4 thou all day
@@James-ly3rx CNC dates back to 1980 very worn, head is not on centre vertically if you push it to much it vibrates and squeals . It does the job has programmed but thanks for your advice 👍
Nm it came on right after i commented lol
Coolant?
Hello Ben it's high nickel gear material EN24T.It will finish half the start weight it will be an internal gear wheel when finished..
That is a big lump. What sort of alloy is that and what is the end result for?
I think the belts were slipping?
I thought its running on Uranium 235. :D
Could possibly be it does glow in the dark
What would this power?
It drove machine tools in an engineering workshop.
Waited the whole time for the exhaust note so disappointing.
Sorry but just a V8 burble out the exhaust nothing loud.
Great sounding engine
japanese ?
1980 Takizawa so yes from Japan
Love it
nice engine Rog was that at show near Selby
Yes several years ago now in the big shed
Looking Good and sounds great Alex is enjoying being the chauffer

Bravo, belle restauration
Scared the heck out of me , wasn't ready for that loud pop 🤣👍👍🇺🇸
Hi I am John Hili from Malta I have just restored an Avon Dragsaw exactly like yours it has a chain winch on the front and a handwheel / tensioner at the back .How is the back handwheel used, does it have an anchor a the end of the chain?? Any information will be appreciated. My email is johnhili.malta@gmail.com
hello John good to here from you my friend owns the drag saw i will pass your message to him
