Bollocks to the CAA and the paperwork If the CAA existed in world war the Lancasters would never had been allowed to fly so many missions continuously and we would have lost the war

Magnifique Image!!!

This had me in tears! What an achingly beautiful tribute! The soul of that grand old plane speaks. My father was in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during WWII, and I'm a permanently hooked aviation fan. I thank all of those brave souls for their service, and I look forward to hearing when "Just Jane" lifts into flight once again. It would be so wonderful to see her some day!

I adore the Lancaster, the sound of those 4 Merlin engines brings tears to my eyes, as I think about what our young boys had to go through during those times. I joined the Lincs. Aviation "Rivet Club" today, setting up my monthly contribution, in support to hopefully see this stunning aircraft fly again. Please, lets all try and make this happen.....🙂

My father was a gunner in a Avro Lancaster, rear gunner until the last op, who passed away in 1990. Well it was just a real nightmare to him, for I remember him to be very humane, even loving animals. New crews not coming back from their first mission, witnessing other aircraft being shot down, like a burning petrol covered rag, to paraphrase what he said and the real bad time began, was when he and his crew were shot down over Normandy and he helping the resistance for two weeks and witnessed the revenge on the collaborators after the liberation, which actually made him physically sick. And after all that, finding out when he got back, that three of his fellow airmen and friends, didn't make it.

Of course she'll fly again... In those times things were built to last, and this was a bomber. She was built to be used in combat and was capable of absorbing considerable battle damage.

This is just so, so, much more than an airplane. The memories, emotions and good wishes it will carry when it finally lifts off, will be beyond measure. There wont be a dry eye in the house. On its 5th year now (out of a 10 year plan) of its restoration, so just another 5 to wait if funds and fortune are forthcoming. Search Neville Wheeldons excellent youtube channel for regular progress updates. Ive been lucky enough to see ‘Thumper’ flying overhead several times over the years. About time she had ‘Jane’ for company

You think it's emotional watching this start up and taxy out? Wait until you sit inside it with those four merlins thumping away, seeing, feeling and smiling the sights and sounds those guys must have seen and felt night after night. I'm not ashamed to say I sat with tears running down my face the whole time I was on board, you simply cannot understand until you take a taxy ride for yourself. It is absolutely unbelievable, utterly humbling

Wonderful to see Avro . My Uncle John Edward Griffiths Aston was in Bomber Command as Sergeant Flight Engineer. We as a family are so proud of him. He died aged 21 over Germany . He undertook over the number of trips as the Pilot of the Lancaster pleaded with him to go up one more time. God bless them all. We will remember them .

A beautiful aeroplane, overshadowed by the Lancaster and yet more versatile , I hope to live to see this one fly. I already knew a bit about the Halifax in part because I was asked by the only survivor to paint 'The Loss of Halifax DK 170. DK 170 Halifax heavy bomber aircraft was lost on it's first mission being shot down by a German night fighter that had been radar directed to the interception point. My Painting was commissioned by the late Mr. John Loban eye witness, formerly Flight Sergeant and navigator of that aircraft. I built two models, rearched and John provided me with detailed information even down to the number of rounds the attacking Me 110 fired. You can if you wish to, read more about DK 170 on one of my two websites under 'aviation-aircraft/halifax-heavy-bomber' ... The DK 170 Halifax wreck was identified in Belgium in 2017 . You may also like to know, this year 2022 I've been approached a limited licence to reproduce my painting for a Belgium book about RAF & USAF aircraft that crashed in Belgium.

When I re watch this, my thoughts drift to the summers helping restoring NA337 to static display. I Will swear today to anyone who listens, that I could hear those radials whispering, begging to feel heat and fire again. To go look for her lost crew, to claw her way back into the sky, and teach our 130s a thing or two about service and sacrifice. Once, in secret, the engines were tested, including the donor engine from Holland. I remember being instantly deafened by all 4 engines screaming to life, props feathered, as she hung from the ceiling. She began to inch towards the glass, towards the apron, berefit of control surfaces, landing gear, even her skin. Tools rattled from the benches. Then the fuel cocks were shut, and she went back to sleep again. It would be simply glorious to assemble all Surviving Aircraft and Crew, for one MASSIVE formation flight. Regardless of their "side". All those who fought for their countries bled red on their day.

Such a shame the government do not fund the restoration of this superb aircraft. Its our history! I live in an area where we had a RAF Staff college and were lucky enough to witness the BBMF flypast on seversl occasions. Those Merlin engines are a wonderful sound.

I was fortunate enough to have a flight in the Canadian Lanc when it visited Long Island a few years ago, the duration was about 35 to 40 minutes with freedom to move around anywhere except to the tail gunners position.

My father flew the Halifax. One was raised from the bottom of a lake in Norway (?) and restored in Canada, in Trenton, ON. Our family has "sponsor" status. I was there to attend the dedication ceremonies. I live in Toronto, not too far from the airport. On Labor Day weekend, the other flying Lancaster participates in the Air Show. I was blessed to see it fly over our house at about 500 ft. There was no mistaking the sound of those engines. I am in a documentary produced by the University of British Columbia entitled "Second Generation Warriors". It is expected to be out Nov 2022. It was about children of WWII parents and how it impacted our lives. There is no mistaking, my siblings and I will always honor those who sacrificed. I am so grateful for their selfless efforts; my father was in a body cast for a year after his plane crashed while landing in Tholthorpe, U.K.
