    My biggest worry would be health care I love my medicare advantage plan in the USA I basically don't pay for anything meds,(9 different maintenance meds) doctor visits, specialists, immediate care, eye doctors, or hospital stays. just pay my medicare premium. I even get 105 dollars a quarter for OTC stuff. We lived in the Philippines a decade ago for almost two years and that was always my biggest worry. Guam would be the closest location where I could get covered health care.

    I can not live there permanently for many reasons one of them health care services are not adequate and you will be bankrupt if u get sick seriously. We were there two months to check situations out after being gone for 4 decades. Not for us good only for vaca

    I'm surprised normal houses still use stove sitting next to the sink. And most kitchens I've seen got no windows. I hope they have vent for the food smell while cooking but now windows- so dark.

    • @HavenEileenDejesus
      @HavenEileenDejesus 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      This is actually a half-century-old house. This is the "dirty kitchen" where all the cooking action is done. While it may lack some modern features like windows or brighter layouts, it is separate and has doors that act as ventilation so the whole house doesn't smell like food. It may have its quirks, but it’s full of charm and memories that make it special for us :)

      Tama ka, mas mura talaga ang cost of living sa Pilipinas, kaya understandable na marami ang gustong mag-retire doon para masulit ang pension. Pero sa case namin, we decided to retire here sa US. Main reason is Haven’s medical needs-mas kampante kami knowing na mabilis at accessible ang healthcare dito. Yun ang pinaka-importante para sa amin, lalo na habang tumatanda. Pero love na love pa rin namin ang Pilipinas, kaya plano pa rin namin magbakasyon doon hangga’t kaya. Ang importante talaga is what works best for you and your situation. :)

    ok lang magretire sa pinas habang ok pa ang health mo. kapag may serious health problem ka na, mas mahal pa kaysa sa usa at hinde kalidad ang health care system. isang halimbawa na si doc willie ong experience ngayon. problema pa pala ang tubig at kuryente!!! nakakatakot din na baka holdapin o nakawan ka sa bahay!!!

    • @HavenEileenDejesus
      @HavenEileenDejesus วันที่ผ่านมา

      Tama ka, okay mag-retire sa Pinas habang malakas pa, pero pag nagka-serious health issues, mas magastos. Sa case namin, mas kampante kami dito sa US dahil mas accessible ang healthcare . Sa awa ng Diyos ok naman ang tubig at kuryente dito .:) As far as safetly lahat naman ng places may parts na hindi safe, kaya we just need to be vigilant.Salamat sa comment!

    Retired na rin kami since 2011. We cannot retire in the Philippines because of health issues. We have a very good heath insurance and we have doctors that we always see yearly. cardiologist, our primary doctor, nephrologist, we see eye doctor, endocrinologist for our diabetes and insulin maintenance. We cannot imagine doing those in the Philippines. Instead, we go on vacation , we went to a cruise to Alaska , and not worrying to be very far to reach our doctors . There’s 7:01 7:01 a dialysis treatment where ever we go. I grow veggies in our backyard, i have avocado, blackberries, kalamansi and i grow ampalaya in a big pot. They wither in winter but i replant in spring . Retiring before 60 is good. Thank God for our pension and now SSS .

    ....kagaya nang father ko, gusto ko ring mag-retire sa Pinas after military & gov't services. Sana close sa church, hospital, mall/market. Pero gusto naman ni misis ay long vacations lang sana sa Pinas, then go back US for medical/dental etc. Would love to slow down na, catch-up with relatives/friends/schoolmates, take short trips around Pinas and re-experience both city and province lifestyles. Love growing up in the province - - people are pure & nicer, lots of healthier /organic fruits/dishes and I really think mas makakapag-pahaba nang buhay for real. It's not going to be perfect, but really hoping to do this soon for life is not guaranteed after today.....

    MAN...I'm so glad I found you guys/this video! I'm a Filipino-American guy here in the U.S. who just retired from a government job a few months ago. My wife (White, from the midwest) will be retiring from her longtime teaching job next year. We are seriously thinking of living part-time in the Philippines once my wife retires. She's never been to Asia but loves everything about it...and she loves my cousins/nieces/nephews/Filipino-American friends. I have this burning desire to learn more about the place where my late parents came from. BOTH of us love the relative affordable opportunity available to us in the P-I. You two brought up some really great things for us to be aware of if we decide to move forward. I don't know very much Tagalog (my wife of course doesn't know ANY🙂) But as you pointed out--and what I've long been aware of growing up in southern California--there's widespread familiarity with English by many Filipinos in "the motherland"--especially in the bigger cities. So I think we'd be able to easily get by. Our two 20-something "kids" would love to come out an visit/hang with us if we DO move. Again...thanks for this video. What I love is that you're providing info from a Filipino point of view--unlike the 99% of "life-in-the-Philippines" Facebook videos...by old White guys going there to look for a young wife out in the provinces. I look forward to seeing more videos from you guys!

    • @HavenEileenDejesus

      Wow, thank you so much for your kind words! We're glad you found our video helpful and that it’s sparked your interest in living part-time in the Philippines. It’s exciting that your wife is looking forward to exploring Asia, and we’re sure you both will enjoy reconnecting with your roots. Don’t worry about the language-many Filipinos speak English, especially in the cities. We’re happy to share our experiences and hope to provide more insights that help you in your journey. Thanks again for watching, and we look forward to connecting more!

      thank you for your question. $1M is referred to total assets rather than just cash. This can include investments, savings, retirement accounts like 401k or IRAs, property, and other assets. Masarap sa pakiramdam ang retirement sa ibang tao kpag may pera ka. Pero sa ibang Hindi makapagsave, Mahirap dahil kelangan pa rin kumayod Ng kumayod

      Totoo yan, retirement can feel easier kung may pera ka. Pero hindi lang saving ang importante-it’s also about being smart with how you spend and manage your resources. Kahit hindi malaki ang income, if you live within your means, prioritize needs over wants, and find ways to stretch your budget, malaking tulong na yun. Minsan, it’s not about how much you earn, but how wisely you use what you have. Planning ahead and making small but consistent sacrifices can make a big difference in the long run.
