This is Karen (Meier) Russell saying PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!! What a wonderful milestone for WVC! I was present at the dedication of the 2nd building that was built on the corner of 72nd and Wide Hollow Rd (before it was Nob Hill Blvd). I joined the church in 1960 the year after we moved to Yakima. Pastor IJ and Katie Hoover were friends of Mom and Dad’s in college in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They invited us to visit during Spring break 1959. Pastor IJ encouraged Dad to apply for a teaching job before we returned home in Morton. Davis High hired him so we moved to Yakima by August. Dad and Mom joined the church and began serving as musicians. My siblings and I were involved in the Christmas children’s musicals, Jr choir then adult choir, in my case, at age 12. We also were involved with providing special music from solos to ensembles. I consider WVC my home church no matter where I’ve lived - in CA, ID or Prosser WA. I will miss visiting you all, after I move back to Nampa ID next month.
