FEMEROL MIG 250 welder output current Flux core test.
This is FEMEROL MIG 250 welder that I PURCHASED on Amazon. (( No freebie )) . 6 in 1 Gas MIG/Gasless Flux Core/Stick/Lift TIG/Spot Welding/Spool Gun Compatible Aluminum Welding Machine I've noticed all these reviews of other welders and youtube, and only one other person testing the output current to verify if it's close to specifications and if buyers are getting what they are paying for. These days 98% of all welders lay a nice bead, So, I'll skip the welds and another box being opened. I'm using Flux core 0.030 ET1T-11T on 220v and the results are impressive. I may be doing a MMA current test as well.

What is the lowest amps that can be set and thinnest metal you can weld .
it all depends if you're using, MMA or Manual MIG or synergic mig flux core. in MMA you can use 1/16 rods and 25 or 30 amp. in Manual mig, you can use 0.6/0.023 solid wire and as low as 10v and in synergic flux core 35 amp. but since it has spot weld feature then you can rapid spot weld very thin metal.
Will you recommend the welder ur testing on this video?
Either this or AZZUNO Aluminum 250 which has few more settings for MMA.
Nice to see more folks are putting companies' claims to the test. One thought. Setting the meter to max may not give the most accurate idea. Welder output can be a bit "noisy," and what the meter picks up as the "peak" may not be indicative of the actual, running current. Just a thought. Cheers!
THX for watching. I've tested welders without using MAX. in fact, I even used double meters in the past without Max ( have other video showing that few years back) and reading are all over the place. I think Max is as accurate as a home test can get given all other variables. I even used double and triple meters on this machine. and two of the meters were within 0.2 and 0.8 of each other. very accurate. anyway, I'm trying to see if these imports are anywhere near what's being advertised and if buyers are getting what they pay for. Captain is claiming 220A on 220v for mig and 180A on 220 for MMA. if I get only 160A on 220 and MIg then it's BS. If I get 120 on MMA and 220v then it's BS. so we shall see if we're close given the fact that all these welders ship with only 12 gauge power cord so there's a little loss there .
@@WV591 Interesting. I've used three or four different meters at different times, and I never use the peak/max recording setting. In that mode, even a fraction of a second spike (whether real or just noise) will be recorded by the meter, so even a brief spike can make it seem like a machine is putting out more than it is. If the welder has really smooth, steady output, it may not matter much, but if it has noisy or "dirty" output, it could make a bigger difference. Either way, it will be interesting to see what you get out of the Arccaptain MIG 200.
@@bigtb1717 well it's not scientific but it's better than just welding few lines and saying it's a great welder. either way if welder is advertising 200A in mig/fluxcore on 220v and I measure 140, that tells me the specs are BS. if I get around 185-190 or close then It's ok. we're talking sub 700 machines. if it advertises 180 in MMA on 220v and I see 120 then it's BS. buyers have to decide for themselves. most people don't care as long as they can weld two pieces together and they just bump up the amperage or voltage and they are happy with that. to me if the E6013 , 3/32 rod is listed between 60-90 and i have to bump the machine to 120-130 to get a weld then that is not acceptable. that welder is going back as far as I'm concerned. no free pass. i don't care if it can weld nice at higher settings. that is not the point. at the end of the day, people will buy what they want regardless of these types of tests and outcome. as far as youtube, I only know of one channel the guy does these types and even more extensive tests and tells it like it is.

Will this machine allow a long arc with 6010 rod? Thank you
Absolutely. it can handle any rod especially if you use it with 220

Hello -- I have this model welder but no clamp meter to replicate your test. Are you saying that the display on the unit over-reports the amps being produced (at least on 120v)? I have somewhat successfully welded a few things with mine using only 120v -- using 6013 at 1/16 and 3/32. Small rods, but I'm wondering it your test indicates one might need to dial up the machine by 25-30 amps????
I myself use 120v since that's all i have and for the type of weddings that i do, i don't have a need for 240v. If your welder setting work for what you do then all thesw numbers and test are meaningless. If you want to get maximum performance out of welders and heavier metal then most if not all professionals tend to favor 240.
Wyze
Why the two clamp meter were getting different reading ?
That was the point, if I'd used 10 meters, they all would be somewhat different taking into consideration the fluctuations in amperage and meters reaction time . True RMS meters with the highest specs and lowest reaction time will give most accurate readings.
Did the controller in your last one hold up?
yes. as long as correct heavy gauge wires are used, they last and sequence of how it is turned on, although mdds30 is more solid.i had sabertooth capacitor break off from vibrations once and they more touchy about wiring. but they both working fine so far.
@@WV591 excellent. Good to hear, and thank you for the response. Did you run much cooling on the boards? Did you ever get to a temperature warning/shut down? Sorry to waste your time but to get real feedback is invaluable. Thanks again!

What kind of battery set up do uou have? I just blew up a sabertooth 2x32 getting a cytron to replace it.
sabertooth blow easy unless very careful.have to use special wire and switch . I've blown a several myself. but they have a good customer service.batteries has to be 2 x 12v each @ 35AH.wheelchair batteries.

mdds30 controller doesn't charge batteries. I use a trickle charger in between sessions to keep the batteries healthy.

WHY are you putting your cats outside? Cats are indoor animals ONLY. If you are putting them outside due to potty issues, then you'd be happy to learn that you can train any cat of any age to use a regular toilet.
cats are outdoor animals like all other free animals unless you get them as kitten and keep them locked up all their lives and train them that way.
THAT is the BEST video I've ever seen! Thanks!
Ha-Aha ;-)
Which one is the best sabertooth or mdds30 motor driver?
they both have same functions and work the same. sabertooth cost more and seem to be more delicate in my experience. Both have excellent customer support.
I have been looking for this kind of video long time thanks for the test.
you're welcome. yes i couldn't find any videos so i decided to make one.
@@WV591 Actually the company what they say about rating is correct. There will be dead shot current draw which is equal to rated capacity of welding machine at the time of the arc generation, after the arc stabilizing the current stabilizes. Some brand done the same test there will be 20 amp ups and downs while welding after getting stabilized arc. But at dead shot amps it will be rated capacity. Today I have done same test with two clamp meters on two machines I got similar results like you. But in my case dead shot amps goes to 230 in 250 amp machine and 350 in 400 amp machine. The same confirmed by some big brand company. So our machines are good. IGBT is more regulating the arc than Mosfet.
@@sureshlingabathina the multimeter current reading will be much higher and much closer to the welder display setting if you use the full potential of welder as in using it on 220v line instead of 110v.
I agree. but since I don't do much welding other than repair of few things around the house or mostly hobby, I didn't install 220v.
Mdds30 how long does it last?
They last a long time. Unless you use wrong size or type wires or connect them incorrectly.
have you thought of adding a gyro compass? might smooth out that oscillation.
Nice! I need one
Easy to build my friend. I just rebuilt this one and it is so much more compact with better design improvements and lowered it to around 3 inches. the red one is 4 inch height.
How do you like this welder ?
After doing considerable research on stick welders and internal components and design, in my humble opinion, probably the best welder for the price. Has no problem burning any of the rods i've used with it. Like any other dual voltage welder if you use 220 them you get max performance out of it. Use 110 then it's not full capacity power as you can see from meter readings. th-cam.com/video/Zc3Qm545CRo/w-d-xo.html

SW1 & 2 = 00 if you using RC which almost everyone does SW 3 & 4 = 00 if using mix mode if using microcontroller then 11 SW5 = 0 Linear control ( 1 if you using high speed motor) SW6 = 0 All in the manual

I was able to hook things up, but. I want to power the receiver from a step down power source not from the controller. When the switch is turned off to cut power to the controller I noticed power was still on and the receiver power was also (seperate source) on. I could still run the motors with TX. Not good.when I unplugged the power from the step down everything would be off. When the main power is turned on the controller powers up as well as the RX and the motors can be controlled by the TX. I don't want to power the RX from the motor controller only by the step down transformer. Am I going to have to cut the positive and ground(negative) wires to the RX? I'm so close to buttoning mine up to take for a spin.
I have no idea why you want to make it so complicated but best of luck.upload a vid when finished.

Are your motors bolted onto angle iron and then the angle iron bolted to the mower? Great build, way to go!
Yes but I used aluminum much easier to drill. THX

What did you use to mount the motors to the mower
Motors are not mounted to the mower. mower was left 100% intact. they are mounted to the frame using custom brackets i made. frame hold the mower suspended and makes the cutting height adjustable. how you mount the motors to the frame or mower will always depend on type of motors you have and if you want to use bag or just mulch. everyone of my 3 RC's uses different mounting configuration.
Nice!
