Hundred Year Retroactive Book Award of 1924
มุมมอง 1678 หลายเดือนก่อน
Are books that were popular a hundred years ago still relevant today? That’s the question we ask every year at the Hundred-Year Retroactive Book Award. The Hundred Year Retroactive Book Award of 1924 debated the enduring literary merits of three bestsellers published 100 years ago: 1. E. M. Forster's "A Passage to India" 2. Herman Melville's "Billy Budd" 3. W. E. B. Du Bois's "The Gift of Black...

LITERARY spotLIGHTS: A Conversation with Best-Selling Author Sy Montgomery
She’s a wonderful writer. Number the Stars was my favorite.
Julian starts speaking after five minutes. 5:14.
So what is your point about identifying the authors as “ privileged”. That word is thrown about so freely these days, it has begun to loose its meaning for me. So please clarify.
He is such a charming man. Rebecca Eaton means well but comes across as a bit distracting when people just want to listen to Lord Fellowes. I still enjoyed watching.
Lord Fellowes is a gentleman.
He's so cute!
TH-cam is pushing an algorithm of racist garbage around. This video is trash and the person who made it is racist trash too.
This interviewer is not a good listener. When you have a genius orator and storyteller as a subject, best to sit back and keep your mouth shut and your papers quiet. The constant interruptions are an indication of the woman's impatienve and arrogance. Her need to speak herself is cringe worthy not to mention very disrespectful.
American interviewers have this habit.
Autumn I watched the whole of this. Congratulations, so powerful to see you here and love your work. I was hanging on to every word. Very much look forward to reading your work. Sumaya (fellow Boston muslimah)
We hope that you enjoyed the conversation with Sy Montgomery. You can hear more from her as well as Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Joseph Kanon, Patrick Radden Keefe, and Meg Wolitzer at the Associates' Literary Lights Dinner on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Learn more www.associatesbpl.org/events-and-programs/literary-lights/
If you are interested in “The Soul of an Octopus” or Sy Montgomery's new book “The Hummingbirds’ Gift,” you can purchase them from Harvard Book Store www.harvard.com/shelves/display/literary_spotlights
Wonderful! Beautifully produced and performed.
