Adventures of Chris And Chris
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 3 ส.ค. 2020
Adventures in New England and beyond hosted by Chris and Chris. We are professional photographers, amateur adventurers.
We think the Northeast adventure scene is severely underrated and under-documented, and we're out to change that. We are documenting a side of the Northeast and New England you probably haven't seen before.
Chris and Chris will take you along as we bike, hike and ski with each other and others that make the Northeast outdoor scene so unique. We'll be wandering off the beaten path with the occasional self-induced sufferfest as well as adventuring on well known and well worn paths. We invite you subscribe, comment and join us as we explore the Northeast outdoors together.

Canyonlands - Bikepacking The White Rim Trail
Canyonlands National Park, Utah. The White Rim trail. Two days and one night, 100 miles of stunning, remote desert scenery. For many cyclists, this is a bucketlist bikepacking trip. Chris and Chris and our friend August were able to check this one off the list in February of 2024. The red rock desert of of Utah did not disappoint.
Thank you to our friends Pinebury and Hyperlite. And thanks to Moab bikepacking for the mountain bike rentals.

30 Hours On Katahdin In Winter
มุมมอง 3.1Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Katahdin is a magical place in winter. We've climbed Maine's highest peak, located in Baxter State Park dozens of times, both summer and winter. This time the conditions lined up to go up and over the mountain via the Abol Trail instead of the long slog around on the park Tote Road via Roaring Brook Campground. It's shorter, but more consequential if the weather goes south or the avalanche cond...

Presidential Traverse - Under A Full Moon In The White Mountains of New Hampshire
มุมมอง 8678 หลายเดือนก่อน
In our lifetime, if we’re lucky, we’ll see about a thousand full moons. One thousand. A generous number, yet also, finite. This summer, we decided to mark that passage of time with several friends by walking a high mountain ridge in New Hampshire’s high country at night, under a full moon. A presidential traverse. We started in the late afternoon at Appalachia, the traditional starting point of...
Hiking Katahdin's Knife Edge

Katahdin. The Knife Edge. The Northeast's classic, iconic ridgeline traverse. Not only is Baxter State Park's Katahdin the highest point in Maine, it's the northern terminus of the famous Appalachian Trail . Chris and Chris and their friend Brett climb to the top of Maine's highest peak via Chimney Pond and the Cathedral Trail and traverse the Knife Edge to Pamola Peak, all at sunset.

The Vermont Gravel Growler is a 250 mile bikepacking loop linking two of Vermont’s best qualities: gravel roads and breweries. Follow along as Chris and Chris (and adventure pal Brett), capture their experience in a very adventure vlog style, just some GoPro and drone action, all while taking pictures along the way. During a recent cold snap here on the east coast, the morning of Saturday, February 4th, 2023 produced some of the coldest temperatures ever recorded in New England. I went out to create a short video vignette shot by me (Chris Shane) and friend Luke Kaneb from two different locations of the Maine coast. With on the ground temperatures hovering around -15° degrees, the constant 40-50mph winds o...
The Last Skier Standing (2022)
มุมมอง 10Kปีที่แล้ว
The Last Skier Standing is a last man standing "event," held in Jackson, New Hampshire and hosted by local ski shop Ski The Whites. The rules are simple: every hour on the hour, each participant must ski up and down the course until they don't want to anymore. For the first 24 hours, it's a fun, festive, and inspiring event. Then, with a handful of sleepless skiers and weary minds still skiing ...
Why We Do It - Cinematic Timelapse & Drone Reel

A timelapse and drone year in review, and a celebration of our love for photography, getting up early, and getting cold. Light can be found anywhere. The feeling we get from capturing light in beautiful and unique places. Thi...
Norway During The Polar Night

A short and sweet video of Norway in November shot by one of the Chris's as it enters the 2022-2023 polar night. Chris shot this video entirely on the Laowa Cine Nanomorph 50mm t2.4, aside from a few timelapses. He brought this along on a short trip to Norway on his honeymoon just for fun to shoot some more clips and test out the anamorphic lens.

Love this
Hey dudes. What's the little lollipop portion of the ride on your route? Is that for something scenic or was that to facilitate your hike?
That’s the best part of the whole route - it follows the Katahdin Loop Road which is part of Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument. Great views of Katahdin if it’s not in the clouds.
@@chrisandchris Saweeeet! Thanks!
Sweet video dudes! Looking forward to doing this ride myself now!
Awesome! You'll absolutely love it.
Epic adventure. Solid video. Beautiful piece of a the state.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Can you share the route in the comments?
Thanks for reminding us. We put our route into the description of the video. It's a shortened version of the full Gravel Growler route which can be found on Bikepacking.com
How often does it snow on the top?
We don't live there so we couldn't say. But it seems it snows a few times a year.
Your videos are beautiful! Could I ask you to share the route, or even better, the GPX file? Thanks again for this wonderful video. I'm going to share it with all my friends.
Thanks for reminding us! We just put the full route into the video description for you. You should ride it!
Magnifique ❤❤❤, j'ai adoré. Félicitations
I understood that overnights had to be in a campground? Has that changed? I did it in one day as permits to camp overnight were hard to come by.
It hasn’t changed. We stayed at a backcountry site for our one night. Ours was Gooseberry and ended up being about 50 miles on the first day from where we parked our cars.
@@chrisandchris ah. Nice trip. One day is a rushed trip but it was one of my best memories in my years of riding.
This was a fun watch. I'm buying my first bicycle in a couple weeks and moving to Burlington next week. I really want to get into this.
That’s awesome to hear! VT gravel is some of the best in the world. Burlington is such a bike friendly place, too.
Interesting I must go there
Love watching you explore the best state. 😌
Thanks! No doubt it's the best state :)
Did it solo from Calais to Portsmouth in May ’23. Your video brought back memories… Thanks for posting!
That's awesome! Hope to do it again someday. It's such a special way to experience the coast of New England.
Looks like you had a blast. My verdict on this is either SAG wagon 3 to 4 nights to do all the side stuff and enjoy the people you are with with some tequila shots or do it in one day. I've done both for a total of 7 times. I have considered the one night bike packing but all that extra stuff just kills the fun for me making two hard days with water insecurity.
We'd agree, a longer trip would be a lot of fun. Fortunately for us it was cold enough in February we were able to carry all the water we needed for two days one night, otherwise we would've opted for a one day mission or a longer, supported mission. We're glad it worked out the way it did, since we had to drive to Grand Canyon right after this for a Rim 2 Rim 2 :)
Looks like a fantastic trip. Beautiful and tough. Dusty though I'm guessing.
Wasn't dusty! Just windy.
Where did u rent bikes? Also-can u share details on gear/clothes (what worked, what didn’t)…any lessons learned
We put the bike rental company in the video description in case anyone wants to check them out. In terms of gear/clothes, the answer is largely determined by the time of year you go. Any kind of weather is possible in the canyon, so best to prepare by checking the weather forecast a week out and making decisions there. Overall, we would suggest prioritizing carrying excess water, basic survival supplies, and bike repair kits, above all. In terms of bike gear, we did a section on our bike choices in the video and would defer anyone to that if curious about bike stuff. There's no wrong answer, but hardtail mtb setups are probably the most enjoyable ride.
Love these videos and seeing new places to explore, thanks for all the work you guys put into these!
It's our pleasure!
you will be famouse soon i believe it
Thanks! That’s the best comment yet!
Loved this video.
Thank you!
What’s the point of the cross country skis? Seems like a waste of weight bringing 2 pairs of boots and skis
They’re much comfier and lighter on the feet and definitely faster. Saves the feet from slamming around in big ski boots on flat ground for a few hours. It’s a 5mile mostly flat ski to the start of the actual mountain so we prefer to save our feet for the good stuff
Stunning, have hiked it in summer, would never have thought to visit in winter.
It’s better in winter in our opinion!
The most inspiring true adventure I’ve ever witnessed on video…thank you
Spirit of Oliver…
I really appreciated your video. Beautifully shot and edited. Thank you.
Thanks! We really appreciate your comment
That was sick!!!! I love this mountain, never done it in the winter .... but now, I want to climb it in the winter!!!! Love winter climbing and the views up there are simply insane!!!! You guys did well!!!! Thanks again for sharing😊😊😊😊😊
You should! The Baxter State Park website has a ton of information on rules and how to approach planning a trip in winter. Katahdin is a different mountain in winter. Check the site out if looking for more info or give them a call!
Great footage as always guys. Love your content. I live in southern Maine and haven’t gone to Baxter State Park. I’m a Father of two under three. Busier than ever but can swing a couple trips a year. Your footage gives such a great perspective. Can’t wait to hit the knife edge this year if I can swing the time. Planning a trip up Washington’s Huntington Ravine in August with a few crazy friends. Keep it up! Maybe see you out there sometime. 😀
Cheers man! Hope you can get a day in the park and up Katahdin for yourself. It would be cool to get the kiddos up Katahdin when they’re old enough…
Awesome video guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Incredible video! Thanks for sharing your beautiful adventures. I'll never forget the first time I arrived at Chimney Pond.

Amazing! You guys do the coolest adventures
Glad you like them!
Thanks for showing off our beautiful state.
In this case, the pleasure is all ours.
This was spectacular all around.
Thanks!
Brilliant!
Thank you!
Cheers guys, great to see you in the bunkhouse last year!
Thanks for getting us in at the last moment man. We’re forever indebted to ya.
🔥 wow, thanks for bringing us along! What an epic experience, so lucky to see blue skies! Such an amazing place in the winter. #bringwinterback
Glad you enjoyed it!
Another excellent video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome video guys! Exactly why I quite my DC job and moved back to Maine. One question on the Strava route, am I reading it right and it includes your hike?
Maine is home! The Strava route does not include our hike, it is the bikepacking loop.
So that loop from mile 90ish is just riding - cool. Thanks!
@@DrDilweed yes, that loop is the Katahdin Loop Road in Katahdin Woods National Monument and best part of the route
And how did you get back to the start?
The route is a loop so we rode back to our starting point. Both directions work, though we’d recommend counter clockwise.
@@chrisandchris link to route loop? Looks like an out and back? Out is 800 miles?
Sorry, we thought you were referring to the Katahdin loop. We drove back home from the finish.
How far into your ride when you came across that bad bridge where it looked like few had been past there in years?
It's probably about half way. Its fine to cross just not for vehicles.
Do you have a RWGPS route of your ride/route?
Hey Tom, the route is in the video description via Strava.
I'm not seeing a link for your Strava.
NM .... I found it!
can i know what backpack ur using? also what to carry for a hike like this?
We all have 20L packs. Please check out Baxter State Parks website to learn more about hiking in the park and what gear appropriate skills you may need to visit the park and all of its mountains.
Gross ending! 😆
nice trip, did it 2 years ago as well
Haha dude you totally caught a tick in that shot of the crash! Maine the deer tick state
Love this line! Skiied it twice with Stu back in Feb 2021 when it was WAY more filled in. Glad you guys had a good time on it!
Nice work. I posted this on my FB wall. Hopefully, it give your a little more exposure. See you on the mountains
Awesome, thank you!
Did you post the route anywhere?
We didn’t as this ended up being a bit modified from our original route. We’d recommend checking out Bikepacking.com and the VT Gravel Growler page to grab a full gpx route there.
@@chrisandchristhanks!
Thanks for the great video! What time of year did you do this? Buddy and I are thinking about it in late June but hear the mosquitoes will make it miserable.
Awesome! You definitely should. Mosquitoes are likely going to be around and pretty pesky from June to August. They’re definitely worse early summer. Honestly, the black flies are worse though. They are manageable as long as you keep moving though!
Great ride and video guys! Did you need a reservation for the lean to or is it a first come, first serve scenario? Ty
You’ll need to register when entering Baxter State Park (it’s free for cyclists), and you’ll need a reservation made via their website to stay at any campground area inside of the park. Most are usually booked well in advance because it’s a popular place, but you’re usually good earlier in the summer. We’d recommend riding through the park counterclockwise (entering from the North entrance), and staying at either South Branch or Nesowadnehunk Field Campground. You’ll want to familiarize yourself with Baxter State Park and all of its unique rules & regulations as well, so check out their website!
What an awesome video! I've yet to see the sunrise from atop any peak in BSP. Need to make that happen.
We highly recommend it!
You know the benz will melt your lens , glasses anything plastic
We’re wondering, is this a rap verse from a song we don’t know about?
We just figured it out. Ben’s. We thought you were referring to a car. Yup it’s for only the worst bug situations, or for an old GoPro lens. Which still works well btw!
@@chrisandchris just typo
The gravel section looks like fine sand 🥶🍼🥵
Fortunately it was a little packed down for us given the light rain on this day :)
