The Karmanos Cancer Institute (KCI) Office of Community Outreach and Engagement was established in
2017. KCI COE's mission is to reduce the burden of cancer in KCI's 46-county catchment area (15 treatment locations in Michigan) by supporting academic-community partnerships, strategic research initiatives, and evidence-based strategies.

Life Planning: Understanding legal documents that can help you take care of you and your family
A cancer diagnosis can often present a person with several legal challenges.
- Who will voice my medical decisions if I am unable to do so?
- Who will manage my bills when I am too tired from treatment?
- What documents can allow me to identify others to help me care for my children?
- What can I put in place to be sure, if something happens to me, that my property and possessions can be distributed to those I want to receive them?
