I have been designing and drawing live aboard sailboat designs for a while and am now creating a scale cardboard model. I’m coming up to doing my IGCSEs. I have found it difficult to find where to go free my A levels to get into sailboat naval architecture. Do you have any tips I could have for where to go next?

Stumbled on your site... skimmed about 18 of the vids... excellent basics with honest comments as you learned and learned. I have to go to bed, but will be back soon and watch all. It is the concepts and details about building that shine through. Thanks for having the determination to hang in there with the efforts to share you experience. By now you have learned to trust you hands and eyes for making sure of fair curves and swells; two of Gods greatest inventions. As with all creative work you have learned to trust in so much about your mechanical skills! Oh, one more thing, get a lapel microphone so we can hear you ...

Cool. How did you get the paper to not wrinkle when you glued? All of my tester paper is wrinkling... What material did you glue the poster to? I was thinking about using a foam board. What paper thickness was the poster? Lastly, was the clear coat sticking to the glossy paper? I tested both matte and glossy and the modge podge I used was not sticking well to the glossy... in fact, after it dried, I could peel the modge podge right off the glossy, but the it stayed in place with the matte finish. Thanks

  • @joeyburrell3207

My question is, what will you use to stop it from flaking off later and t protect it. Maybe mod podge as a final coat.🤔

I used a plastic bag to make the texture. First, i used the plastic bag and did texture all over, then I did my deliberate strokes on certain areas to make it look painted…and finally did another plastic bag texture.

Getting it out was easy Getting it back in took me a couple hours. I was able to get it inhours later synched it up car wouldn't start because the time it took to get it in i drained my battery, so i took it out thinking it didnt work waited for the weekend and it took me all but 15 mins to get it in because i devised a tool

If you sprayed it again with a matching finish to the gel, maybe it would lessen the white spots.

Question, what kind of foam did you use? How would you rate it and would you use it again. I want to build a small boat, but the cost of plywood is outrageous. But so is this so called marine foam

I just binge watched and got caught up. Interesting project. Looks better than I expected. I was a car painter for 30 years, faring is very much like body work, and the sanding never seems to end. I think you would have better results with a plastic bondo spreader instead of a putty knife. Also, at this point I would be giving it a coat of primer, so it’s all one color, and easier to see defects, then mist a light coat of black spray paint over the primer. When you sand the primer, the black will stay in all the low spots, and you will see everything. Hope this helps. It’s probably the least fun part of the project, but worth taking the time to get it right. Good luck.

Great job and video. A lot like painting a car. You can spend hours improving voids but finally you get fed up and just spray it. Then you see what you didn’t see. She’s coming well and you’ll never be sorry for the hours spent. Wishing you the best of luck in the completion and years of enjoyment. Grandpa

I’m surprised there are no comments. This is my first video watching you and I gotta admit it’s very interesting. I’m doing something similar on a project boat of mine, but I’m turning mine into a motorboat. It’s the same design as this one. It was originally an 8ft row boat. But now the problem I have are those fiberglass bench seats. It’s not an optimal position to control the outboard. I’m gonna watch some more of your videos on this build. I’m excited for this project of yours, lol. Maybe I’ll just copy what you’re doing and Ditch the motor idea.
