I grew up fly fishing western North Carolina for beautiful trout always on the hunt for wild fish. In my early years I often volunteered and worked with the division of wildlife at the Davidson river fish hatchery. I headed out west to Hawaii for college to study marine biology. I decided Colorado was my next destination and lived in Breckenridge Colorado for 23 years fly fishing my heart out. I recently decided to get back to my roots and have been reminded what a beautiful place these Appalachian mountains are. I love to fly fish and decided why not make some videos of my journeys so I hope you enjoy my channel. I do all the filming and editing as well.

Nice day on the water. I'm a novice fly fisherman at best, but love the simplicity of it compared to bass fishing with all the electronics and such. I'm a short drive from the smokies and have a cheap fly rod. Going to get up there soon I hope!

I have spent many wonderful days fishing Slickrock Creek, Big Santeela and Snowbird Creek in the Joyce Kilmer National Forrest near Robinsonville.
I'll be making my first fishing trip into the park this weekend on the NC side. Can't wait! Any good tips?

Nice! Would like to fish those waters some day, I fish a tons in the Virginia Blue Ridge for brookies and that water looks amazing. Great video and its cool you have friends to fish with.
It's too bad that more of the streams have established populations of non native fish. Not that there's anything wrong with rainbows, but brookies evolved there and they belong.

Appreciate the videos. What length leader do you guys use and like? I have been using a 7 1/2 5x leader with my 8 ft 4 weight on the N. Ga streams, but I would appreciate your advice. Thanks again for the videos.
Thanks for watching Lamar. If I am fishing for wild trout I go with a 9 foot 5x leader using 6x tippet just because they are a little spooky. I will also carry leader material and make leaders depending on the situation as needed. You will save a ton of money making your own. Tight lines Lamar.

What size rod and line? Great footage!
I was fishing a 7 foot 4 weight set-up using 6x tippet Patriot. The other angler in the video is fishing a 8 foot 3 weight set-up. You can notice my fast casting trying to stay out of the trees. I think it looks funny in the video but it works . I actually would have preferred my 2 weight on this creek for these fun little bookies. Thanks for checking out my channel .
