    Over my life I've changed dentists 3 times because of what I learned was dishonesty. All three times was due to recommendations for deep cleaning. Each time I got a second opinion and the opinion was my gums looked good. While I'm an old man I don't consider that I'm lucky to recognise a scam. I'm not happy that I've lost respect for the honesty of dentists.

    I just can't trust dentistry. There's no way to know if you are being taken advantage of for more money and dentistry is massively expensive now. In health care now as well as dentistry it's all about money because the incentive to get money is to do procedures, needed or not. There is no room for trust. I don't know what to do except to just not incur dental and health care expenses.

      @@virginiamoss7045 The sad reality of dental insurance and medical insurance in this country. They have taken over, dictating treatments, costs, etc. It’s a total mess. I wish dentistry would get away from dental insurance all together and go back to cash. You would see prices drop significantly. And you could call different offices and price shop.

      @@chass1347 Good question. Don’t know. But unless they decide to get rid of dental insurance and go back to cash payments and quit letting the insurance companies dictate prices on everything I can promise you things are going to keep getting more expensive. And most dentists will sell to corporations which are another problem entirely.

    This is very important and is overlooked a lot. Not only does my husband breath through his mouth while sleeping but also snores really loud. I had a conversation with him and we decided to tape his mouth when we're sleeping together. It's worked like a charm after a few months. Not only does he breath from his nose only, the snoring too has reduced a lot. I usually cut a larger tape when taping his mouth

    My dentist went ballistic on me because I didn’t want his unnecessary X-rays and root canals. I NEVER get cavities, I brush and floss after every single meal!!! The average person doesn’t do this. I don’t use him for cleanings anymore because he isn’t capable of being honest.

    • @KathleenFulton-u1x
      @KathleenFulton-u1x 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He shouldn't go ballistic about anything. Your dentist should be able to show you on an xray that you need a root canal and why. If you have insurance, the xray will be sent to the insurance company and they would have to approve it.

    • @nataliebartonRDH

      @@tjj5337 X-rays should be done on people every 1-2 years. I’m seeing more and more dentists doing them every 6 months because insurance is covering them. Makes me angry as it’s not healthy for the patient to be exposed that frequently. Brushing and flossing every meal doesn’t guarantee you won’t get cavities ever. But it helps a lot. Nutrition, vitamins and minerals play a huge role as well and are rarely to never discussed in most offices.

    1:26 so the reason we wear masks is to stop breathing in germs? I thought it was to stop yourself from giving other people covid if you have it, because if your scared of breathing in germs, then why did no one wear masks before covid? And if your wearing a mask to stop yourself from breathing in covid, then you need to know that masks don't stop you from breathing in covid or from breathing in anything. Covid cannot become airborne, it can only spread through spit and to be honest, covid is waaay more rare thsn you think. I mean more people die in car accidents and of other things than of covid. Why are people still driving cars then but not going out in public? Also they say that 95% of people who died of covid actually died WITH covid, not OF covid. That means if you die in a car accident but tested positive anytime in your life before you died, even years before you died, they would have considered you as a covid death. Please look i to this stuff yourself. I used to be slightly worried when this all started and I researched everything and then realized it's not even a thing to give a moments thought to. I know this comment is a year or 2 too late but still

      Many of the DAs and hygienists carry their own insurance, and this info is contained on their profiles. That said, determining liability is ultimately a matter for the courts to decide based on the facts and circumstances of any particular case. So, best practice is make sure that your insurance carrier provides coverage for temps in your practice, as this will help to minimize your risk.

    Yeah this is 2022, I am temping now, I am a new grad and I literally graduated in May of 2022. to be honest I am still undecided on what I really want to do for job wise, temping you make good money,but no benefits, and the tax part hmmm I tried to work full time for private practices, but still no benefits and hours with private practices are not guaranteed. I temped for cooperate offices and my goodness the work load is outrageous. The cooperate office wants to hire me and I did apply to work there, but I am rethinking it, they offer sign on bonuses , 401k , dental insurance, but the amount of burnout i think I’ll get if I work there full time will be crazy .. and to be honest I plan on doing hygiene for a very long time so I have to take care of myself… My husband is in the military, I already get health insurance benefits from him anyways, dental insurance I really think I can clean my own teeth looking at the mirror 😂🤷🏼‍♀️. I can stick to a Roth IRA , I just won’t have a 401k, buy my own disability , malpractice & life insurance and just temp for 5 plus years if God willing.. I really need some good advice from someone who’s going through what I am going through..

    Some tips I’ve learned: Pain - something I was told before getting in the field: regular massages, yoga, chiropractor, stretching at any down time. Stay away from an office with long daily hours or short (under an hour) appts for routine care. Patients - try to find the root of their anger or problem (some you’ll never please), and offer alternatives. I find it goes a long way! As for kids, same thing and use silly or simple terms and demonstrate/show each steps if they’re very inquisitive. Most important, always learn from fellow hygienists - I still pick my colleagues brain for ideas if I just can’t figure something out and vice versa!
