Hi mate, off road riding instructor here, looks like you’re having fun 😊 A couple of gems for you: - Stand up as much as possible, life is always better when you do. - First gear can be good to pick through super technical parts, but in the main, you’d have been better in second or third and carrying a little more speed in a lot of this video, stood up of course. Enjoy 😊
After the events of this video, I hightailed it back to Bristol and fitted a Michelin Tracker front tyre. If you're on the fence about fitting an aggressive tyre to a big bike, or have heard it doesn't make much difference.. Bollocks to that! Put it on and don't look back ✌
you need to use engine braking , stand up on the pegs and pick your way through the rocks or track the ruts. Dont let the bike run away from you and utilise both brakes. I think the 700 was a bit too big for your skill level and hate to see a nice bike get damaged. Respect for not giving up and posting a great video , thumbs up !
Loved my green lane riding but at 66 it’s how often you fall not if you fall 😂
What date did you do this trip thanks
How was the Rally compared to the T7 on the road section.. I'd ask for a comparison off road but thinking the rider is a large percent of it. Great video.
It was me on the 300 rally. I remember thinking I was going to hold us up the whole time on the road sections because especially with the knobby tyres, the bike really felt like it didn't want to go quicker than 60-65mph. But then as soon as we got to Bristol and we fitted the Tracker to the T7, it felt like neither of us wanted to go any quicker than that, and we could just enjoy the road sections at a slower pace. I don't think either of us were uncomfortable doing long days on these bikes, although I'm sure the Tenere does have a slightly nicer seat. As you say, it's hard to know off road how they compare. I didn't dare to have a go on the T7. Mine is certainly easier to pick up after a drop though.
@Marmite51 I asked as I've been using the Rally for some of the same stuff as you for 3 years, ride to the trails, and the only bike I've thought about upgrading to is the T7, I test road one at ABR last year, and while it was nice I thought it would just be more weight to pick up 😅. The trackers on the road scared me lol, so went back to MT21s for all round use. So instead of trading in the Rally I bought some suspension upgrades that probably do not belong on a bike being ridden by someone of my talent 🤣
Good effort 👌 💪
Buy a Beta Alp. You'll have a far better time of it.
For some of us weirdoes it's not about making it easy, the challenge of doing it with bigger bike is part of the adventure. As a total masochist it's even what I would call fun! 😂
I counted more than 3 drops 😁 Well done getting that big girl thru there.
The way you went over Twmbarlwm was illegal. After the second gate you aren’t allowed over the top. You go left against the fence or down the ruts to the end then drop down to the double gates. Just saying. 🤘
Did you need a new rim? Or was one able to fix?
We hit it with a hammer as much as we dared. It only moved about 1 mm.. Any more and it would probably shatter. New rim needed but I haven't the funds right now!
@@doubledropmotors I have fixed mine with Hydraulic Press using 4-5T of pressure with small steps. Done about 4k so far with no issues
@@RideWithGec Do you have pictures? Did you use a piece of wood or something?
@@doubledropmotors unfortunately I did not take any pictures. Wood will do no good since it will be smashed. I just used an old rag to put it between the rim and press and go with really small steps. The important thing is to loose the spokes around the effected area when you use the press and thighten them back later
Love your video mate! Some good lanes there what camera you using looks really good quality??
GoPro HERO11 Black, stock lens.
HELLO, WHAT CAMERA ARE YOU RECORDING WITH?
GoPro 11 Black
There are my local trails, T7 and 890 KTM, Well done, those are tricky tracks when not ridden previously.
Wicked trails, I'd love to go back in the summer + a proper tyre on the front ✌
in answer to the question, the rocks are there to stop 4x4
Assuming you know this lane, imagine getting a 4x4 past the first gate, they would still be up there today. 🤪🤘
That's my playground on a big bike they are great lanes
10:17 is he waring socks?
I ain't riding with you 😭
Yeahhh 😎🤟
Super!!!
what a legend! No fancy bike or equipment just 4 lads having fun!
Good ride and momentum is your friend. :)
🤘😎
Great!!. How can i get the track?...Thank you.
Next time I'll record the GPX. Good excuse to do it again 😁
@@doubledropmotors also following! Thanks for sharing.
Stock tires?
Nope, Scorpion Rally (not the STR) front and rear. Front is fantastic but the rear has no bite after 3,500 km. Sticky on the tarmac too.
I swear one Day i would pay that Yamaha teneré 700❤
Flying Jackets 😊
Great Trails….
ooooh, that blue teneres so sexy.
great vid!
