My Great Grandmother was sister to Admiral Andrew and General Alan Cunningham.

I was doing a bit of geneology research. My last name, Davidson comes from the highland Clan Davidson. I spent months researching the Davidson history. When i decided i learned enough i went looking at my mothers side. Her father, my grandfather, was William T. Cunningham, III. So it appears im a decendant of multiple highland clans. On my dads side we got Davidson, and the Chattan Confederation and on my moms side connections to Cunningham and Fraser.

The Cunningham Clan is a Scottish clan that relocated to Ulster province in Ireland, now either Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland). I am descended from this family. The castle the Cunningham clan had from 1399-1873 is still in Scotland. The Cunningham’s are Ulster-Scots and not Irish. They are Presbyterian and British. I found my dad’s 8th, 9th, and 10th great grandparents graves in Co. Donegal just last weekend. The dates of birth are 1550s to 1640s. The Cunningham clan once sat on the Privy Council for the King of Scotland. There is so much more rich history to the Cunningham clan. Get ready for Tartan day and wear our family tartan with pride!
