Hello, I'm Ken and I currently live in Taipei, Taiwan (though I was born in Los Angeles and I went to college in PIttsburgh, and worked for 15 years in the States). I got my first die cutting machine, a Sizzix Big Shot on Dec 1st last year (2023) and I started making cards every day when I discovered the best crafting dies to play with - Karen Burniston. I didn't quite understood the concept of crafting before using Karen Burniston dies - that I can create cards any way I wanted to. The dies and mechanisms were tools that allowed my random ideas and creativity to flow through. Learning by following her very instructive videos I started creating whatever comes to my mind. I'm still, and always will be, learning from Karen. I created this channel so when someone asks me about my ideas I have a way of explaining my method visually. You can find me on Instagram at: gogoro_bricks. Please check it out. Thank you
A Closer (Slower) Look at the wreath Mechanism
I apologize, but I sped up too much of the footage in the last video. Here's a slower and closer look at how Karen Burniston's Flip Frame Pop-ups were used to form circular and heart wreaths.

Pop-up Valentine's Wreath Card
มุมมอง 38819 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Originally I created a circular Christmas wreath using Karen Burniston's extremely dynamic die, the Flip Frame Pop-up. It was the exact mechanism repeated six times, and the decorations filled up the space and created a circular impression. I started this video by showing the base of that wreath. But since I did not record the making of that wreath and I did not want to just make another one, I...
Optical Illusion Pop-up
มุมมอง 314หลายเดือนก่อน
Here's another requested "making of" video from the lovely Peeps. This is one straightforward card to make. In the video, I will demonstrate making a whole (blank) version of this card and then show a quick montage. Of course, feel free to decorate it however you like-Karen Burniston has many characters, animals, and scene elements you can choose from. The only Karen Burniston set required is t...
Spinner Pull Tab
มุมมอง 254หลายเดือนก่อน
I utilized this mechanism on two of my previous cards, the poinsettia and the snowflake. Here, I demonstrate this using a pinwheel (with a Wicked theme). This mechanism is a bit tricky. Remember to cut the hole the right size -too big, and the spinner wobbles; too small, and it won't spin. Tape the fishing line tightly close to the holes. At first, you must keep working on it by repeatedly pull...
Christmas Combo Pop-up
มุมมอง 120หลายเดือนก่อน
After enrolling in Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner's Online Card Classes "So Very Merry" series, I was inspired to create several cards before the classes even began! This video is a request like my other videos. As usual, I combine Karen Burniston's mechanisms to repurpose them for this Christmas card with interactive Christmas tree and snowflakes. As I mentioned in the video - I realize ...
Flip Frame Lorna Label Pop-up
มุมมอง 257หลายเดือนก่อน
Per request, here's an explanation on how to combine Karen Burniston 1134-Flip Frame Pop-up with 1266-Lorna Label Pop-up. I used it on my white poinsettia card, part of Karen Burniston's October new release. In effect, as you open the card, the Flip Frame mechanism animates the Lorna Label (this is usually animated on the center fold and horizontally) A6 size card is ideal and has just enough s...
Design Challenge (Music) - Piano Keys Accordion Pop-Up Card
มุมมอง 573 หลายเดือนก่อน
Karen Burniston's design team would tackle a fun design challenge each month - the theme changes each month. About two months ago, the subject was music. Immediately bringing to mind KB's new die sets, the piano keys pop up, and I set out to create something a bit unique yet minimalist. I tried my best to strip away all unneeded elements and present a sleek accordion in gold and red. I did not ...
Jaws Attack Pop-Up Card
มุมมอง 2435 หลายเดือนก่อน
While brainstorming other ways to use Karen Burniston's latest Boat Pop-up dies, the Orca from Jaws came to mind. The movie is on my mind as LEGO is gearing up to release a 50th-anniversary Jaws set next month. I knew I could use the Sailboat Add-on set and repurpose to create a boat resembling the Orca. The problem is, how can I make a card with just the Orca and no Jaws? How do I come up with...
Flower Bouquet Box
มุมมอง 1305 หลายเดือนก่อน
Tutorial for a flower bouquet box I made to house Susan Tierney-Cockburn's magnificent flowers (using Karen Burniston's pop-up mechanism). This tutorial should guide you in creating and adapting your own generic and multi-purpose box. The two wings, as I call them (or front covers), are held together by a clasp. Once opened, the two flaps automatically flip backward and form a stand, giving you...

Flip-Up Slider Box
มุมมอง 2706 หลายเดือนก่อน
I remembered browsing by examples of Kamikara, a Japanese form of paper craft a while back. It inspired me to use Karen Burniston's ever useful 1227 Slider Box and install a mechanism that "flips" up when triggered. Used along with Susan Tierney Cockburn's gorgeous flowers, I made a pop up bee. That led to requests for a tutorial, so I did a ladybug the second time around. Of course, it's up to...
Reverse Waterfall Card
มุมมอง 2717 หลายเดือนก่อน
This card mechanism is a play on the classic tab-pull, page-filing waterfall card (as seen on Karen Burniston set 1161 - Waterfall Card). With so many pop-up card/interactive card designs to choose from, I choose this mechanism because I wanted to create an effect of a theatre curtain opening. A mechanism that will be a stand alone, able to be placed on the front cover of the card. But the trad...
Thank you so much! You are a most talented and generous person! I am very glad to be able to see your creations on KB Pop-Up Peeps!
Gorgeous ❤❤
Ken thank you for posting your process to make this amazing heart wreath pop-up using KB Flip Frame and TH Chocolate dies. Definitely inspired to give it a good try. As always. Thank you.
Thank you so much Ken Chien! I'm so happy you made this tutorial. I was really looking forward. And as usual, a great card. Even when you try to make it simple, something great comes out of your hands!
Awesome Card and Great video Thank you
❤❤❤
Thank you! Definite going to make this,,brought the chocolates dies on vacation with me!
Thank you for sharing the magic behind the pop-up wreaths!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video- it’s very helpful! I love seeing how they can be combined!
It’s so funny how ppl get fancy equipment n forget simple easier ways. Like… um a hole punch??? lol who uses a die for a hole punch? That had me laughing
You need a perfect hole to prevent all the friction you can. I find it wise
Innovative. Thank you for showing it.
A brilliant idea, thank you
Thanks for sharing. Great card!!!
Thanks so much, Ken. Can't wait to try this.
Excellent Ken. You make it look so easy. Great tip on using , totally agree because my record would spin with a wobble so it took a few efforts to get it to spin evenly. I glued an acetate backing on the underside of the record (circle) I think it helped. Hadn't thought of hot glue but thanks to you I will. You're amazing. Love your fabulous creations. Super fresh, outside the box and innovative. So grateful. P.S. before I purchased the elements of pop up books I used the MFT video as my inspiration. th-cam.com/video/vpz7SXSqvCY/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared

Wow! Thank you so much!
It is amazing! And thank you so much for your great commentary on how you did it! I fell behind in checking on the Peeps Facebook and missed seeing it there. It's very kind of you to share your process!
This is a great video! It is so very kind of you to go to all this work to teach us how to use mock ups to achieve a result and to tell us step by step the things that did work, the things that caused difficulty and how you overcame the difficulties. Thank you so much!
Thx for sharing! Very interesting to see the process
Great video! Not hard to follow along at all and enjoyed the commentary! Thanks for doing this, I am going to try to complete this for my son's birthday - x Navy Seal who swam with sharks off the Florida coast - crazy boy that he is 🤣

Hello from Taiwan!! Were you affected by the hurricane? Hope all is well.
@@bingwen827I'm fine thanks. Greetings😊
You had me 😂 when you were yelling at your past self to take it easy on the glue. I enjoyed this video as someone who shares a love of both Karen Burniston and Susan Tierney Cockburn dies…
Fabulous card. Loved that you saw chopsticks in the balloon strings. It's great the way Karen's dies all work so well together.
Love your musical masterpiece Ken! Am your newest follower here, and thank you for the details of your gorgeous card!
Fabulous pop-up card! I love the details you added!
Always amazingly out of the box!
Another great creation. Cute card, love the little chopsticks - it was one of the first songs I learned to play on the piano.
Hi Ken. Thank you for taking time to share this amazing box. Can I ask where I can download a template for the lady bug or anything similar?
