Hispanics, Mexican-American, Mestiza/o, Texican, Tejana/o, Latina/o, Chicana/o, Xicana/o, Pocho/a, or Californio, are all terms used to refer to individuals whose heritage originates from the former Mexican territories and Indigenous lands of the Southwestern United States (TX, NM, CO, AZ, UT, CA, NV), contemporary Mexico, or Central/South America. They are often a mix of Indigenous Indian and Spanish. Some are bilingual. Many speak English only. Collectively, they are sometimes referred to as La Raza.
They embody a pivotal element of American cultural diversity, characterized by their historical legacy, traditions, and relentless advocacy for civil and human rights. Their impact resonates throughout diverse realms including art, music, literature, cuisine, sciences, business, and politics. From the era of early European colonization, to the contemporary era, Chicana/o's have remained actively engaged in the pursuit of civil and human rights.

Message for La Raza: Unite, Mobilize, and Stand Strong as a Union of Free Pueblos #indigenous
La Onda Bajita - a call to prepare for possible upcoming food / water disruptions, physical / electronic attacks, electric grid attacks, ICE/SWAT team raids, or online / physical terror from various white supremacist military groups. History has shown white supremacist military groups will, have, and can strike at any time. Law enforcement are often united with those groups (or part of them) and we cannot count on them to stop threats. Protection and community defense are up to us. Unite, mobilize, plan, and stand strong.

Damn! This movie was bad ass can’t believe it wasn’t made into a real one then!!!
The year my parents came to USA from Mexico. My dad worked at a gas station, my brother was born that year. Died 6 years later of leukemia
Great piece of information. Very informative and concise. what's the name of the documentary?
Some people think that the use of pre - Columbian cruciform design means SOMETHING, probably just coincidence / coincidental. Jesus didn't visit the New World, nor was he Quetzalcoatl.
Great video. Northern Mexico was always treated like crap. Tejanos and white settlers banned together to overthrow an evil dictatorship but people outside of Texas like to ignore the role Mexicans played in independence because white people = evil is just such a fun narrative

*Somebody* hasn't heard that the word *" INDIAN "* is no longer in use & HASN'T BEEN because it's erroneous...... This video looks to be from the 1980's. Those figures resemble Easter Island / Rapa Nui Moai.
I first saw this film when I was in 5th Grade, back in 1971. Definately pre-80s. And LOTS of people still use the word "Indian". Even some Indians.
@@Sennmut The same people who still say " Oriental ", although neither " Indian " OR " Oriental " are culturally insensitive, patronizing, disrespectful or negative, just geographically anachronistic.

Wow. That's my school. Those were my times. Amazing video. Larry Ratto, the Principle, was such a decent man, and he supported us kids as we had such diversity of interests....We had cowboys, lowriders, and we all just got along as friends. This is amazing...

Wow, thank you for the information - will check it out. Wish they would tell the real story instead of changing the whole narrative.
La Raza needs leaders like this now!
I personally think 🤔 this film was educational in a way I have teenagers children I have experience gang life in prison
I was a little kid when these things happened at Laguna Park. I remember hearing and seeing the cops speed down Indiana. My grandparents lived on 6th street across from Stevenson Jr. High. The Silver Dollar was my Aunties favorite watering hole.
Should have called the movie ese

I'm so happy this video exists and shows the tejano side and why the revolution actually happened there's so many false narratives about Texas
Absolutely, the mainstream story is that of manifest destiny through the Anglo settlers historical point of view. Will attempt to look for stories from the other side.
Great story

VIVA LA RAZA 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽💯💯💯✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
I know millions try 2 protect the legacy of Chavez but, let's be real here, He always used the term wetback on my own gente. Leva.
I've heard about that and it's very unfortunate how the border has divided people. I can understand the struggle to organize the farm-workers and all the wonderful work done. Racial epithets from anyone should not be tolerated. It is a shame some of the gente today also carry some prejudices. Such is the nature of this system which relies on division, class, hierarchy, and the strife that comes along with it. 🧑🌾
