These amps really hate overdrive or distortion pedals but LOVE boosters. Try a clean boost in front of it like the TC Electronic Spark and it sounds even better !
Did you sell the Magnatone?
@@Blaha_haha I actually traded it for some gear
I sold mine kind of miss it haha
How would this compare with the Knaggs? If you had to pick one?
@@timothybean9706 rock and roll relics is built well and plays great. I was not a fan of the Mojotone pickups I would say that I prefer the knaggs more if I had to choose. Knaggs is a brand new style finish and the RnR is a relic so you have that difference as well. Can’t go wrong with either. RnR is a harder resale than the Knaggs in my opinion. So I would say I love the knaggs and would pick this over the RnR hands down.
@@VinnyTheAxe that’s great to know! I’m saving up for the “ultimate” p-90 guitar and was going between a RNRR Starfighter, Knaggs Kenai, Novo Serus P2, or Gibson CS 54 LP Custom. Right now, seems the main battle is between the Knaggs and Gibson!
@@timothybean9706 I think I know what you’re going for. I would stay focused on a Gibson Lp special or Jr. or the Knaggs. I would say the custom shop special or jr are great. If you get a good one. Bang for buck the Knaggs Kenai will hit the mark, unless you really need the Gibson logo on the head stock.
Love the tone you are getting great looking guitar
I have been getting into Magnatones and I love it! Thank you for the wonderful video!!! ❤
@@fatseaturtle thank you for the kind words. Much appreciated.
Who is here after seeing Aaron Rash’s video???
sounding great! subbed
I’m sold on this one, was looking for a 100w, but would be too much for home practice and recording. This sounds amazing 👍
@@metalworx4765 you won’t be sorry. One of the best amps , if not the best amp I ever purchased.
That sounds glorious...
Just bought a 2024 US Paul’s in Black Gold. But I was hunting for one. I went from “one of each” AKA a tele, a strat, a Les Paul. A LP Jr, a Ric, a Hollowbody, a Jazzmaster to buying a Core Limited PRS 594 in 2019 and selling everything in search of more PRS. I really think Paul is in his “Golden Era” like Gibson was in the late 50s. Now I have three US PRS - a SC594, a Silver Sky and a Paul’s. Along with an HSS Strat from HS and an Electric XII, I’m all set.
Awesome collection to be proud of for sure.
I played one today in a guitar shop a shit that is a beast I'm going to get one soon
Does jublee have 70w cab as well ??
@@Gauravsinghrf the 2x12 ‘s are 140 watts and the 1x12 is 70 watts
Just bought one in vintage cherry, but for other Knaggs fans, there is one EXACTLY like this one on Sweetwater's used gear site.
@@mcheustis how do you like it ?
@@VinnyTheAxe It's due Thursday or Friday. But, I do love my Knaggs Kenai-J with a single P90, so I expect the SSC -J to be just as good.
I've NEVER got along with the JB. So many of my favorite guitar tones are recorded with it (Jake E Lee, Dave Mustaine .etc), in fact It sounds great on a record but I've just never liked it. It's too hot for PAF style/classic tones and it has all these weird EQ Spikes at around 1-2.5k that just make it unpleasent for metal tones imo. Not to mention that flubby low end that makes palm mutes sound kinda lifeless. Again a lot of people have made great sounding tones on it, I just don't like the way it sounds when I plug into an amp and play. It's never worked for me. The Dimarzio Illuminator is a much better all around pickup imo, but it's all down to taste. How do you like the way it feels when you strike a chord and palm mute. That's where the JB fails me. Yeah it sounds good in a mix but I just don't like it when I'm playing by myself. The thing i really hate about the JB is people act like it's the end all be all of pickups, just buy one of those and throw it in there and forget about it. Screw that, try as many pickups as you can until you find the one that makes you want to pick up your guitar and play.
@@loydthabartender5794I totally agree. Palm muting with the Jb just sounds weird. It’s not tight percussively. It’s really hard to explain. I think its fault is that it has too much power. I wonder what a low wind version of it would sound like? Yeah so many pickups out there, and a lot of good ones to try for sure.
Yes definitely!!!🤘
What more do you need
I would keep it. The Whale Blue is a beautiful color! I think the more you play it the more you will become attached to it. Since you picked it up in a trade it makes the cost seem more palatable. How could you let something so beautiful go after all. :)
Well said. I agree, I will keep her around. Thank you for stopping in and for the friendly advice. Much appreciated.
I got 2525c like 3 months ago for home practice, in rehersal room I got Bogner XTC Anniversary 6L6 with 4x12. I am happy to have two amps with diffrent tubes. When playing home quiet Marshall sounds thick and sweet. But when playing loud with Bogner 4x12 cabinet I was missing half the tone I got from Bogner. It was like mp3 and CD Quality. Some tones were simply not there and much less harmonics. But it cost 800 Euro and Bogner with cab is like 7000 Euro. Even thou it was still rocking. So in my opinion the amp is very good for the price.
If you don't have another PRS in your collection I would keep that one and search no more for PRS guitars. That one is a beauty. Break it in. Put some miles on it. Let it wear into your hand a bit. 😁
@@chelrob2 great advice, I am going to take you up on that. Played it for a bit last night. It’s a really great playing and sounding guitar.
No, you shouldn’t.
Love the sound and top very nice.
@@ryanbloom1738 thank you. I am thinking of just keeping it. I have it set up pretty good and it plays great.
Always like these videos you’re pal BP
@@bryanthegini thanks my brother. Good to see you on here.
@@VinnyTheAxe Great content and flashbacks to trips to music stores.
As a previous owner of an SE and S2, neither of which were that pretty, I just found them uninspiring. They played great and had great QC but I only wanted to keep them for their looks and not playing them. You sound unsure which means to me that it's not the one.
You are on point. I will give it a few more weeks, then most likely it will go up for sale.
Vinny it’s a lovely guitar BUT I am in the camp of MEY it’s a prs no soul I find it funny a lot of people thing that way ..great playing in the intro 👌👍 nags for me
I hear ya. I don't suspect she will stay long. We shall see. Thanks for stopping in and supporting the channel.
Beautiful guitar fantastic sound, love the videos!
Thank you
PRS isn't my thing. What did you trade for it? The Frank Bros?
@@seanzinger oh no. The Frank Brothers sold on Reverb this weekend. Traded an amp for it
If you can afford em and love em a lot why not have more, Otherwise i try to go after what i actually use regulary + do actually like them. Buut i dont have that expensive instruments so its kinda easier to keem em for longer haha, for 3k to more ( u mentioned the murphy lab) id be looking after every detail too, also the second hand market in my country is basically 0 si cant rly find deals or even who to sell stuff I have a chinese tokai and a japenese one that i might sell cuz it seems i prefer the cheaper one more (so 2 guitars) A schecter nick johnston strat that is basically ' my first guitar since i sold my super-modern-strats ' that werent the bluesrock machines that i needed after the prog phase And got an ibanez quest headless to travel easily. If i were to buy something, id sell the MIJ tokai and get a murphy lab lp or boutique lp, and maybe a better cooler strat. But right now i wanna travel more so buying guitars to have them sit at home unplayed isnt helping in anyway right now ;D Honestly id prefer to chance to play more guitars more often than owning them. Cool fun collection !!
Prs always seemed too fancy for my style, too clean. Like even a brand new clean les paul doesnt look *this * pristine you know haha ? I guess its all about you if u feel inspired by the look of it and u have a job for it whatever that is ( gigs, studio, 4fun at home which is also totally fine ) For me a guitar does have to inspire look wise. Most instruments sound good or u can learn to make em sound good, so why not go exactly after what you prefer the most, whatever each indivdual prefer. Is does kinda suit you tho ngl. The color is great and the inlays i actually like instead of the usual smalle birds. And becouse of the darker spots on the finish, i think it makes it look a little less pristine in a good way to me. More real and alive .
@@cechichan totally agree 100 percent. Yeah it does have a not so perfect cool look to it for sure. I know exactly what you mean. Well we shall see how long she stays around. lol.
Sounds great, as always! Great looking guitar but if you are not sure means No in my book.
Great sounding guitar , Robben Ford signature model is also cool .
@@-Atmos1 I have never seen that model. I will look it up.
@@VinnyTheAxe Robben Ford reviewed PRS signature model 2 days ago on his TH-cam Channel . Interesting to watch , thankyou for positive feedback 🎸
Just installed a 78 in my Charvel, I’m sold sounds killer.
Thats awesome ! Glad your digging it. Its a great pickup.
Awesome looking guitar excellent, playing love it keep the videos coming keep it for a bit see if it fits with the rest of the collection
@@tynazelrod5085 thank you my brother.
5 is a good number. Do you need the money? Do you want something else? Otherwise, keep them, man.
I just ordered a DD-8 and am really excited to get it and play with it. The video made me even more excited!
@@blueishpurple that’s awesome. It’s a great pedal. Glad the video helped.
This weekend, I ticked this off the list - an original 70s model. Surprisingly normal playing and sounding (I don't mean that in a negative way, but I didn't know what to expect) .. but off the charts on the Cool-o-meter ... the ultra thin wide neck was a revelation. A real bucket list item ticked!
@@jivetolkein Congrats on the new axe. I bet it has a great vibe. That’s a great feeling when you find something you have been looking for such long time. Thanks for sharing and supporting the channel.
Great video I love the story about you starting to playing guitar , I like the guitar tour !
@@phillipgignac4468 thank you Phil.
Nice collection, love the color over color on your CS Strat. All of us struggle with the same thing. I feel guilty if I don't play all of my guitars at least once a week.
Love the guitars the story of your guitar history is really cool keep the videos coming
@@tynazelrod5085 thanks brother !
Definitely agree. Straight in, 20W, plus Mesa graphic eq, (doubles as an attenuator) Corona chorus, delay and/or reverb in the effects loop. Sounds epic. I also really like the Rhythm clip pulled out on both channels. 🤘
Transparent boost in front of amp.
I've been using Boss pedals for forty years. I still find them very relevant. I've owned all the pedals you demonstrate in this vid. I'm also a fan of the Blues Jr. Great little amp that packs a punch. The tones you dial in are good enough to gig or record with.
@@angusorvid8840 thanks so much for stopping in and the great compliment. Much appreciated. Have a great weekend.
awesome stuff! i noticed we have a similar picking hand and my hand kinda rest on the body of the guitar like yours and i was wondering do you have a problem with your fingers going in the cut out and being a problem for you i really want one but not being able to try one is a problem but thats my worry is that my fingers would keep going in there as i anchor my pinky on the body of the guitar thanks!
@@gamerBUDSproductions my pinky does fall into the cutout as I am playing. I got used to it in a few days. That said I do raise my fingers on and off and it’s not always anchored so it did not become a problem. Their guitars are superb though. All depends how much it would bother you
@@VinnyTheAxe I appreciate it thanks 👍🏻
I have the British Racing Green version of this amp. Love it. Great pedal platform. The tone knob allows you to actually select from 2 amp types. Before noon the Starlite is a Blackface. With the Tone Dial after noon, the amp becomes a Tweed. Amazing. I always use it set as a Tweed, with the Negative Feedback switch neutralized. My favorite pedal with the Amp is the Free The Tone Overland Overdrive. I also have a Surfy Bear Spring Reverb Unit since it doesn't have reverb on board. I also run it in stereo.
@@Musicsports oh man I bet the Surfy Bear sounds amazing on there.
I love relics for the same reason, also to play one in myself at my age I would need to live to 130 😂
@@Dave4291 lol. Good one. Hahaha. Yeah man it seems to bring out hate in some people.
I have a few superstrats, got a JB, a distortion, a Shawbucker 1, and the ‘78. The 78 is so great!! For you guys out there that like a high gain lead tone but like to use your volume knob to control gain the 78’ works great. I set my amp hot and volume fully open for my lead tone and back down the volume knob to about 7/8 for a driving rhythm tone. Crank to ten for leads and the 78 brings in more highs/treble and the gain goes up! Perfect!
How does the shawbucker compare to the 78?
Sounds good
I really like how it sounds with chords. You can hear everything. Sounds great.
@@lostinpa-dadenduro7555 yes the lower power of the pickup makes it very articulate. I am still pleased with it.
78 is warmer , sweeter and has more clarity 👍
very interesting keep them coming!
