Simply very, very boring in my humble view. I don't care about the non-PC overload, it's just not funny in any way. Mel Blanc's genius voice/ humour is totally amiss here and the jokes are ...well... very boring. Made in the 30ies is no excuse for the lack of humour. Chaplin, Keaton etc are still super funny (it's irrelevant that silent movies are a different genre to cartoons. Good jokes are timeless no matter what era.)

This is so much different than the people I grew up with that it took me decades to even realize that it was racist

This wasn't my era but i did watch some of these cartoons in the 80s/90s. Its crazy to look back at these now and realise how messed up it all was. As a child its just a cartoon, you dont think about it.
