Welcome to our channel , sailing adventures on Sv Shadowfax. After 20 years+ of wanting to own a sailboat, we
bought our Beneteau 393 from a lovely couple in Astoria, Oregon. We sold our home, sent both of our kids to college and got rid of years of possessions to live on a sailboat. Bridge has a few more years until we can retire but we figured we would
share our adventures of living at the marina. We are currently in Eureka, CA. We plan on making videos of DIY projects for the sailboat, a cooking in the galley segment, how to tie knots, and some sailing around the Pacific Northwest.

Today we tackle the storage for our boat. There are plenty of spaces
underneath the floorboards that we would like to use for tools,
extra spares for the boat, and for the general items that we do not use
everyday. First we need to measure out the spaces and then go shopping for the containers.

Old Skool One Pot Pressure Cooker on SVShadowfax.

I'm using this pressure cooker that my husband bought me. He says this is the "Way" the sailor's cook most of their meals since it cooks faster and is used on a stovetop. In this recipe for clam chowder, I substituted the dairy products for coconut oil and cream. The result was a richer tastier version of clam chowder without losing any of the flavor. This recipe can be done with a regular pot....

Having coffee in the morning is good but having it with homemade biscotti is better. These little treasures are packed full of chocolate. They are crispy but not so hard that they chip a tooth. This is the first day of our Journey. I am accompany by Will Bagnall and Brad McCabe. We made our way out of the Columbia River Bar in Astoria Oregon at 5 am. It was high tide with slack waters. This was some of the best clam chowder I've ever had!
I always find it fascinating how people use small spaces. That’s why I enjoy watching tiny house builds and trailer designs. A sailboat is the first iteration of each in reality. I feel for the most part though sailboaters are willing to go without.
It's not really an issue of "going without" and more of an issue of deciding what you really need. Do you need 45 t-shirts? We try to insure that everything we bring onto the boat has multiple jobs. The minimalism actually feels really good, less clutter! Sure we don't have a lot of sentimental extra stuff, boat life makes you choose what you actually value.

We have exactly the same boat. They are very strong and sail quite well. We sailed her to the south of France. At this moment anchored in St Tropez just in front of Brigit Bardot's house

How much does this cost at your location?
The pull out for survey didn't seem that expensive in Astoria, although that was just an "in and out". If I remember correctly its was somewhere around $150. The full haul out was paid for by the previous owner.
Quick question, you’ve probably run into Captain Q’s videos. Any chance you have Dinty Moore in any of the cupboards
No, if we are going to eat from a can, then we try to get the best product possible. The canned food is really just for emergency situations. Our goal is to always eat high quality healthy food.

@@alfonsoescobar1209 Thank you for watching!! Eureka temperatures are usually 45-65. We do love living on our boat so it makes up for the cold weather.
@@alfonsoescobar1209 The North Pacific in early spring isn't normally balmy. While not North Dakota, 60 degrees as a high temp is brisk. Its really not bad, just sweatshirt or jacket weather most days.
