    Recently sold my Porsche Cayman and now have the Grantourismo on a shortlist of 2, the other car being a 997 series 911. The Meserati looks great like you say from any angle but I've always thought the 4 wheels need Spacers on this car to increase the track and give the car a better stance, then low and behold I saw your wheelspacers in the Boot (Sorry Trunk, I'm from the UK Hehe). If I do go for the Maserati I'd definitely fit them so can I ask you why you removed them. ?

    • @Car.Nation
      @Car.Nation 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hahaha those spacers were from a buddy of mine who took them off a different car and gave them to me for free to see if they’d fit on mine. Unfortunately they don’t but yes I do agree it needs spacers!

    • @jamesrichardson8417
      @jamesrichardson8417 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Car.Nation .....yes I'm glad you agree. I'm not sure on the width without seeing the car close up but you'd need a 5 x 114.3 PCD Spacer with a Centre Bore of 67.1mm. They are a very rare car in the UK and expensive to run because of our taxes here, it works out at roughly $1000 Road Tax per year and fuel here is around $10 a gallon. A 911 would be cheaper to run because of its better fuel economy but I do fancy the exotic aura of the Maserati. Good Luck. !

    Two years in for me, The answer is yes, if you maintain it properly. Make sure you keep the battery on a charger and start the engine regularly. Don’t leave it sitting. If you have to struggle to buy it, don’t buy it because won’t be able to afford to repair it. Parts and labor for anything needed is going to be super expensive. Keep it charged! If the battery isn’t at 100% all sorts of things stop working.

  • @flatD1
    @flatD1 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The Engine is exactly and true a pure Ferrari Engine. It‘s called the F136Y, the same Engine as in the F430 and the California from Ferrari. With just one exception: the Crossplane crankshaft. That‘s the only difference. But the engine is build completely by Ferrari in Maranello. The Limitation to 7.200 rpm is a tribute to the ZF Automatic gearbox, which can not handle with higher revs.

    Hey, I just bought a 2015 Maserati GT and got lied to about leaks. There is an oil leak from valve covers. Does that mean I'll likely need to do that valve cover gasket fix? If so, how did you learn how to do it yourself?

    • @Car.Nation
      @Car.Nation หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am a mechanic so my prior knowledge helped me. If you’re mechanically inclined, you can definitely tackle it. Did mine slowly over a weekend. Left fuel lines in place so made it harder but doable. Mines now leaking from the oil level sensor which requires me to remove the oil pan which won’t be terrible but not fun lol

      @@ProfessorDrives yea i absolutely love mine, id say its just more little things that'll pop up but that's with any car, just a little more spendy to repair lol. 1500 isn't to bad, assuming its not from the dealer. All of the F136 Ferrari/Maserati engines were built/produced in the Ferrari factory in Modena. Technically, it is, therefore, a Ferrari made engine. It was jointly developed by Ferrari and Maserati. The only major difference is that Ferrari used a flat plane crankshaft vs. Maserati's cross planed crankshaft.

    • @Car.Nation
      @Car.Nation 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, that's what Ferrari derived engine means. This means it is a collaboration between the two brands.

    • @normsallitt2753
      @normsallitt2753 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Car.Nation my comment wasn't made as a correction to your use of the term "derived", which I obviously know the meaning of, lol. It was simply made to better and more thoroughly inform anyone reading the comments about the F136 engine history. The F136 and the sounds it makes are worth the price of admission into these fabulous and gorgeous Pininfarina design cars, alone. I say this as a lifelong multi Porsche owner who just stepped out of his 911 twin turbo and into a 2017 14k mile Grigio granito/Cuoio Sport. I paid way too much 2years ago, but I found the exact factory spec that I would've ordered new, so I don't give a damn!🤙

    Do you know if the infotainment can be upgraded to the newer model? Or better still, to a 3rd party system from a good manufacturer - like AvinUSA, but I don't think they do Maserati units. Also, I was going to ask about "variator issues", but I think your car is too new to have that problem.

    When I buy the oil filter from the Maserati dealer. The oil filter box has the prancing horse with Ferrari label on it. I'm not sure how you can say it is not a Ferrari engine when clearly the oil filter is Ferrari. It is a Ferrari engine built in Maranello and shipped from the Ferrari factory to Maserati when they were both one company.

    • @Car.Nation
      @Car.Nation 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not saying it’s not a Ferrari engine. It’s a Ferrari derived engine. Uses a lot of things from Ferrari. The engine is called the F136 Y and Ferrari uses it, Maserati uses it, and even the Alfa Romeo 8C. if I remember correctly, could be wrong, but it uses the block from a Ferrari f430. When you look into it, it’s called the Ferrari/Maserati engine. Yes if you go to the Maserati dealer, like I have and get an oil filter, it does indeed have the ferrari logo and prancing horse. However, if you order some other things, they are all Maserati boxes. My valve cover (or cam covers) came in a Maserati box. My spark plugs came in an ngk box but with maserati logos on it. An amazing engine nonetheless

    • @valis992000
      @valis992000 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think why people say it's not a Ferrari engine, even though it was made by Ferrari, is that the engines are not identical. The Ferrari verzion has a different crankshaft for one and I'm not sure what else. But if you needed to replace the engine in a Ferrari you could not drop the Maserati variant in it and say it was the same part. The Ferrari engine makes a little more power iirc.

    Very nice video - I have the GranSport that is heavily modified…but yes, a lot of people do not understand these cars…they are built to cruise in the autobahn at very high speeds 170+180 easily…0-60 is 4.4-4.7 fast enough for me. This is a true classic and last of the V8s. You shouldn’t buy this car for the technology….you buy it for the pedigree, power and sound. This is one of the best Gran Touring cars out there….people hate because they know nothing about these cars. Visit Formula Dynamics as they have a lot of performance parts for our cars.

    I own a 2014 Maserati Granturismo Sport since last year and I agree, it is a good looking car, for me one of the most timeless designs ever. The sound is incredible even al low RPM. I like that very much. I cannot say very much about the tyres but it looks to me that they work fine. The PIRELLI P-ZERO are not very good at wet conditions especially if the tyres are older then 3 years. Like you, many people complain that the entertaiment system is outdated, which is logical, it goes back to 2007 ... For me it looks fine and I prefer an overall more analog design and not those ugly information overloaded displays one gets in actual cars today. All works fine, one can listen to radio, you may load music to the internal jukebox ( harddisc ) and the navigation system is pretty acurate, at least here in Germany. And you are right, even back in 2007 it is strange that one cannot connect devices like smartphones to the USB, only storage devices like USB sticks. Concerning the parts costs, one has to be aware that it is an exotic luxury car. Something that is very nasty are the "sticky buttons" which in my case is still very acceptable but the day will come in which one will have to repair that. Unfortunately that issue was very common in many european cars of that date. I had it also on my 2009 Mercedes Benz S-Class. Fortunately it only affected on a few buttons, but in the Maserati Granturismo Sport it affects practically everything ... Other then that, a great car !!!

      I daily drive my GT and I don't track it because it is not built for racing. It is a GT. So why would you need a Pirelli tire again? I use Lexani tires and I get from point A - B at speeds between 80-120MPH when I feel like it. No vibration no issues. Pirellis are overrated tires for a GT daily driver. waste of money cuz no one cares what the brand of the tires are.
