Sailing Vessel Feelin'Irie 2 gets underway bound for Cape Breton Island. On the first leg of her passage, we sail from Toronto to Montreal. SVFI2 is a fine vessel built in 1996 by Catalina Yachts, her solid 36 foot hull made for a comfortable seaworthy ride. This episode highlights a significant time for her Captian in providing an epic adventure and fulfilling his plan to get her to her new ho...

This time out its all about us boys and our toys. My dear friend/film industry colleague/director Nigel Napier-Andrews and I went in together on a drone this year. So as sailors, we had to get out and get some shots. Since Nigel no longer owns his own boat (age related mobility challenges) and since he and I are now townies together here in NOTL, we are now a collective force to be reckoned wit...

Cruising aboard our 1979 all steel Goderich 41 sailboat. This is season 36 for her and us together sailing on Lake Ontario and it's the first time we've put together any sort of video of her underway. Finally getting a drone was a strong motivator, as are our TH-cam channel sailing favorites, Sailing SV Delos and Parlay Revival!

Aqua Star | The First Canadian Sub-Arctic Sailing Expedition Into Hudson Bay 1985

On May 18/1985, Leslie Sike and his wife Carolann along with David Farr and Gay Currie began The First Canadian Sub-Arctic Sailing Expedition Into Hudson Bay. Aboard the Goderich 41 that Leslie had built by Huromic Metal Industries. By hand Leslie finished her interior, installed all of her systems and drive train and oversaw the construction of her steel hull and deck. It was a monumental task...

Nice video! Love the drone shots, captions, and music

Fantastic first leg, looking forward to the next one! I have a Catalina 34 based out of port credit, would love to do this journey some day. How long did it take from Toronto to Montreal?
The next episode AND the rest of the season are doozies! And hopefully informative to you and others looking to head down the river. Toronto to Montreal took 10 days, about 3 days longer than planned due to various mechanical issues. It's possible to do it in as few as 5 days if you push the passage down the lake by going non-stop from Toronto to Kingston. Overnight passage making for first timers on the river isn't a good idea. Plan on daylight hour cruising.
Great video, I’m considering a boat in Rochester and if everything goes good ill be making the same trip in the spring. I look forward to future videos
@@jbaily9270 Thanks for watching! It’s a great trip but you need to know your boat and all its systems really well before heading off in a new to you boat on a waterway like this. Do your homework and you’ll be fine.
Excellent story, well crafted. (Would expect no less from this producer!) Feelin' Irie used to be docked next to our Express 'Paradox' in TIM's A East Basin when Anton owned it. So great to see the yacht on a voyage commensurate with her pedigree, instead of slip bound at a marina!
Thank you! And thank you for watching! I have always said a boats no good tied to the dock. Of course it takes a ton of work and $ to get boats cruise ready, unfortunately, it’s even more work to get crew ready as life is good at presenting challenges 🔔🥃
clips are so short that I didn't have time to process before the next one and the next, all coming in rapid succession.
Well Ken there are an infinite number of ways to cut a promotional trailer together. Rapid cut frames like this one may be hard to absorb on the first pass but that’s what the replay button is for. The more you see the more you want to see and the more likely you are to want to see the first episode when I release it!Cheers! And thanks for watching! 🔔🥃
Erre is Emlékezek, mintha csak tegnap történt volna 🙂❤💫👍🌍⛵

Nice drone shots, Captain Matt ! 🚁👍
Thank you!
what happen with the Aqua Star? I know the owner of the Breeze. The first sailboat in the James Bay and the second in the Hudson Bay... just few weeks after Aqua Star. I admire the achievements of the Sike family and Les Dmowski
Aqua Star was sold by the Sike's in about 2002. Multiple owners have since owned her. She has been renamed and is still sailing. I've never heard of Les Dmowski or Breeze sailing James Bay. Aqua Star finished the expedition mid-September 1985 just before winter and the ice sets in. I think you may have the time period wrong for Les, as a "few weeks" after Aqua Star arrived so did the extremely high winter winds making sailing in a small boat impassable. I would be very interested in more information about Breeze if you have any.
Leslie and Carolann Sike friends from Mississauga, ON., Congratulation for You and Your Crew for this spectacular 108 days of journey ! I had the opportunity and the privilege to work on the construction of Aqua Star the 1st ship that I had ever did some jobs for with an other friend from a small Mississauga company. Thank You, All ! This is an other Great Canadian film Captain Matt !
Thank you Janos C, I will pass your comments on to Carolann. It was an incredible expedition and one I took great pride in producing this film for.
Did you work for Atlas Alloys?
@@captainmatt79_41 - No I didn't but, me and my other friend Alex (Sandor) used to by material from Atlas Alloys in Mississauga - that we used on Aqua Star when Leslie was building his sailboat ! I designed the hatch and welded it together. Mostly what we used was top quality stainless steel. Thank You for asking Matt ! Always nice to hear from You and take care my Friend ! 🙂
Haven’t seen them all, just thought they were the boat pics I sent to him
If you want to sell her you should look at them. The interior ones are disgraceful to say the least.
Probably about 7 years or so
Did you approve all the pictures the broker is using in the listing?
Hey this video is great, I own Aqua Star now, it’s great to see her in action, she is in St. Peter’s Nova Scotia now
Thanks Tom, I see she is listed for sale. How long have you owned her?
Hello Tom, my name is J Cs this news makes me feel Very Happy that You own Aqua Star. I might even, get to see it again one day !? Long time ago when it was built I and an other friend from Mississauga did some job on it. Truly a Great ship, sail boat.
@@captainmatt79_41 Hello Captain Matt, thank You for sharing this Great video, film the memory of the sailing Ship and the Crew. I was Very Surprised to learn that Tom N. owns the Aqua Star and at the same time knowing this makes me feel Very Happy. I might even, get to see it again one day if he didn't sell it yet !?
@@cherryonice-R-TM Sorry for the late reply. Tom N no longer owns Aqua Star. She has been sold twice since he owned her and has been renamed. Last known location was St Peters Marina, Cape Breton.
