Welcome to Curiosity Detecting! A few years ago I started metal detecting as a way to stay active during the pandemic, little did I realize that I would fall in love with the hobby. Since that day I have found some incredible pieces of history in Eastern Ontario, Canada. I now see detecting as not just a fun hobby but as a way to relieve the stresses of everyday life and to meet great people who are part of this generous and outgoing community. It's also great for my mental health, and is a way to focus on the hunt and let the world's stresses melt away.

Some really awesome relics and old coins. I think the silver quarter is more of a sign than the reed plate that the yard has never been hit, those quarters scream! Another awesome video with great history and finds! Keep up the great work!

It looks like a large ring for a horses harness. Maybe a Clydesdale or Belgium.
Thanks for checking out the video! At a glance the large ring does look like that, however it is hollow and light as a feather (I could easily bend it by hand), so not horse hitch related :(

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. I was pretty shocked to find the 50 cent piece. Despite it being legal coinage here, people don't really use them much at all, which makes it much less likely that someone would have it in their pocket and then drop it.

Great videos. Just got my first and only crotal bell 1 month ago too. Cleaned it up and it sounds great. I picked up metal detecting during the pandemic too. In southwest Ontario so the age of my finds are similar.

Hi Phil, I bet Kevin freaked out about your. Silver 50 cent coin, I did too woo hoo awesome coin. And the big round ring might be from a mantle clock face, I found similar once in brass, they were ornate large clocks. The old history is so interesting about the Salts, I didn’t know that, thanks. Nice hunt dude. Well done. Interesting patina on that nail. Looks like a Tombak nail... not that they ever existed. Big fan of the spoon too, haven't found one like that yet. Comment of the year, "definitely ridden hard and put away wet!" lol . I could see it was def an Un sou with that wreath too. The "Conestoga bell" is def my fav too followed close by the ornate buckle. 2 piece actually. Found one similar called a wreath buckle. Search that and it should give ya an idea.

Really great finds, loaded with history. I don’t know the bell item its background, but it’s nice. The nail looks like solid steel maybe used for floorboards and could be late 1800’s. the token is very nice too. I really enjoy your video. Thank you for showing me your finds.😊BRUN

I love how you show how the historical aspect is the real reason and the excitement for metal detecting. Many people think it is only about finding money or jewelry that can be turned into money. The excitement of digging up an artifact and the connection to the people of the past. It is so much more rewarding than a few dollars.

I keep wondering what happened in that 20x20 foot area in front of that building. Perhaps they used to have bake sales there back in the day or something.
