Central Coast Animal Care Facility (CCACF) is a Not for Profit charity and no kill rescue dedicated to saving and re-homing animals. We strive to make sure all animals have a second chance at a better life.
Location 11 Metford Road, East Maitland NSW 2323 Australia
Unfortunately in the community, animals are not always appreciated for their amazing inherent worth and are discarded too easily. Too many facilities are overcrowded, backwards in their thinking or aren't equipped to convert to a no kill facility, thus the cycle of high kill rates continue. We rescue from & have built strong relationships with these facilities and we are proud to have become their alternative to euthanasia.
In the future we look forward to opening a second facility which will give us the ability & space required to be able to save more abandoned and unwanted animals.

Goodbye 2024
Another Year has come to an end! Let’s hope 2025 is everything we hope for. This year has seen so many high and low challenges for us.
For a small pound of 25 dog kennels and 40 cat cages, we took in (Calendar Year 2024) 881 Animals. 435 animals went back to their owners, 1 currently in impound now, 24 were euthanised due to sickness, council orders or dangerous to the community which equates to 2.73%, 7 were transferred to another council or RSPCA for Cruelty Investigations and the rest were rehomed or still in care with us (We took in 152 genuine surrenders). Sadly that still meant 262 animals were abandoned by their owners who never came to claim them. Technically you could argue that 262 were dumped, however we have determined that 119 definitely brought their own animals or had family or friends dump their animals as unknown strays. I don’t know about you but I feel that is really sad to see so many displaced animals.
Lows
The amount of animals needing to be rehomed as owners struggled with financial & housing crisis, domestic violence and a lot of people just couldn’t fathom that not all animals they got were suitable to their needs and lifestyle. A lot of animals were rehomed because their owners were at their wits ends with their behaviours but chose to rehome or euthanise rather than investing some time or training or vet guidance. We dealt with a lot of the same people over and over during the year, some with the same animal and others rotated through multiple animals.
The facility saw a myriad of animals come in with health/behaviour issues for which their owners either did nothing about, created or dumped on us to manage, such as; Ringworm, cat flu, parvo, broken bones, flea dermatitis, pyometra, broken or rotten teeth, mattered hair, infected ears or eyes, nails curled under but the worse things we struggled with was the broken spirits, the animals so shut down they didn’t eat, they cried, they shook when we went near them, they attacked us in defence and the broken hearts they felt from their own owners dumping them. Some animals were beaten, some dumped in the bush and one nearly died after suffering horrific head wounds and left for dead in a pit.
We lost wonderful staff & volunteers who just couldn’t stand seeing the hurt & harm that some of the animals went through, then there is the abuse from people that think it was their right to behave that way. Some of my staff were physically assaulted and of course subsequently charged with the NSW Police.
Highs
One animal left for dead found the strength to crawl approx. 10 kilometres over the course of nearly a week to be found and subsequently rushed for vital medical treatment. It took me 12 ldays to prove that his owner lied and it took me 367 days to get his owner into court and sentenced. JD is now in the most loving home that will ensure he will never feel such hurt again even though his body will always carry the scars of what happened to him on the fateful day in May 23.
I found the determination to fight harder than I ever have, to help those animals let down by their owners who decided to lie, dump or hurt their animals. In total I was able to hold 119 accountable.
45 animals went home under our Freedom Buster Program. In total we raised $24,616.78 and all the animals who never would have made it back home, were in their homes for Christmas.
Our assisted rehoming program saw countless animals go into new homes without coming into the facility. Our latest was 20 animals alone last week.
We worked hand in hand with many rescues for the best outcome for the animals and as a result we drove thousands of kilometres around the state to rehomed 267 Dogs and Cats & 50 Livestock Animals. We assisted other rescues by doing the vet work on some of our animals being transferred to them so they could save money and keep doing their valuable work to help the animals not only from us but from their pounds and communities because we all know its take a village these days to come together to make an impact.
Something that we could never do without the support of our village our found family, you our beautiful supporters and followers not bound by blood but follow the same cause and that is to help the animals. You have celebrated in our wins and picked us up in our saddest moments and for that we are forever grateful.
Whilst sadly we know the reality is we cant save all of them we try, for the ones we couldn’t save which were beyond our ability ie Council Orders or sickness, we relish the moments we spent with them and take pride that for even the shortest time, they were loved, cared for and were something to us, they will always be on our minds and drive us to hopefully change things for the future for the next animal through education, support and prevention.
We thank each and everyone of you for following us on our journey and the love and kindness you show us and our animals.

Jail House Blues (Wednesday 20/11/24) 2 x Dogs in and 1 went home. Unfortunately, we know the 2nd dog won't go home, he was found on a known dumping road for cats and dogs. He is unmicrochipped, riddled with fleas and suffering flea dermatitis under his armpits, tail, inside of his back legs and stomach. His ribs and backbones are also protruding and he is suffering with sun damage to his nose....

I didn't think tomato was good for dogs. Regardless UNBELIEVABLE that her owner doesn't want her anymore!! I hope someone trades him in too and he understands what Oreo is going through. What a wanker!! So glad Roxys surgery went well and her leg has been saved ❤ Big YAY to everyone who donated for the surgery! Glad the police and RSPCA are now on the case of their being so obviously dumped by their owner and praying he is banned from ever having pets again as well as cops a MASSIVE fine especially for not getting the treatment that Roxy so desperately needed (there are options like payment plans and charities to pay the vet bill).

Awww Orio us old girls have to stay away from Tomato it makes our Arthur worse....She seems like a sweet old girl. The older dogs being dumped breaks my heart. Those and older doggos being dumped because they are sick or injured. So happy to see Roxy getting her surgery and getting a place in a shelter. They both seem to be little sweet hearts too. You guys are worth your weight in gold. Thankyou so much for going the extra mile to help these animals. I sleep better at night knowing you are there doing what you do..........
