As an American, what disappoints me about the film looking back now, is the lack of British representation in the movie; primarily in the 'Shining Time overworld'. I mean, if there were going to be American actors involved, fine(after all, Thomas and Friends were just as popular here as it was in the U.K.; where it all started). But in my humble opinion, it should've been kept to a minimum(Peter Fonda and Mara Wilson). I mean, if they couldn't get Ringo Starr to do 'Mr. Conductor', they could've gone for another English actor to fill the gap. They could've gone someone like Alan Rickman, Tim Curry, Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, David Kelly, Robbie Coltrane, Richard Griffiths, or even Christopher Lee; or better yet, they could've at the very least trained Alec Baldwin to speak with an English accent because it would've given the film more autheticity to its roots/origins. Kind of like how the producers had to train Tom Hanks to speak with a Southern Accent during production of 'Forrest Gump'! As for the character 'Patch', they could've gone for any English child actor like Tom Felton, Daniel Radcliffe, Robert Patinson, Rupert Grint, Ray Quinn, Joe Dempsie, James Phelps,or even Harry Melling to portray as 'Patch'. 'Stacey Jones'(Shining Time Manager) is another character I think of for plenty of English woman to play as her: Like Emma Thompson, Fiona Shaw, Maggie Smith, Julie Walters, Julie Andrews, Pam Ferris, Joanna Lumley, Miriam Margolyes, or even Helena Bonham Carter!
