This channel provides an organised collection of videos to support school Chemistry students. This includes GCSE, A level and IB. All of the videos have been recommended by teachers.
Demonstrating the Evolution of Carbon Dioxide by Living Organisims
This video presents an experiment demonstrating the evolution of carbon dioxide by living organisms. Sodium hydrogen carbonate indicator is used to show that carbon dioxide is released by living morio worms.
Sodium hydrogen carbonate, also known as hydrogencarbonate indicator, is a pH indicator that detects changes in carbon dioxide concentration. It is commonly used in experiments studying photosynthesis and respiration. The indicator appears red under normal carbon dioxide levels, turns yellow when carbon dioxide levels increase, and becomes purple when they decrease.

This video demonstrates how to use a potometer to measure the rate of transpiration in a leaf.
Potometer Setup Demo
This video demonstrates how to set up a potometer, a device used to measure the rate of water uptake by a leaf, which is nearly equal to the water lost through transpiration.
Transpiration Time-Lapse
This video presents 18 hours of time-lapse footage demonstrating transpiration through plant tissues.
The Effect of Temperature on Enzyme Activity
An experiment demonstrating how temperature affects the rate at which trypsin catalyses the breakdown of casein in milk.
Electrophilic Addition
This video features a stop-motion animation illustrating the mechanism of the electrophilic addition reaction between bromine (Br₂) and an alkene.
Elimination Reaction Summary
A stop-motion animation that explains the elimination mechanism. This is part of the AQA A-level Chemistry course. This typically occurs for primary or secondary haloalkanes in the presence of a strong base. Technically, this is called an 'E2 elimination' because the rate-determining step involves two molecules: a haloalkane and a hydroxide ion. Tertiary haloalkanes often undergo an alternative...

Uncertainty Calculations
This video explains the following: 1. The difference between absolute and percentage uncertainty. 2. How to calculate absolute uncertainties. 3. How to combine (propagate) absolute uncertainties using percentage uncertainties. 4. How to calculate the absolute uncertainty in the final answer. 5. How to discuss the error in the final answer.
Arrhenius Question
A video walk-through of a classic A-level Chemistry question about the Arrhenius equation. Students have to plot a graph of ln k against 1/T to calculate the value of the activation energy. The activation energy is always a positive number and often lies between 50-250 kJ/mol.
Maxwell Boltzmann Simulation
In this video, we showcase a Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution simulation that demonstrates the probability distribution of the kinetic energies of identical particles in a gas. Through the use of advanced algorithms and graphical representations, we visually represent the behavior of gas particles and how it changes with temperature.
Multi-step Moles Calculation
A video walk-through of a challenging 7 mark AQA A-level Chemistry question from paper 1 (June 2018). A student added 627 mg of hydrated sodium carbonate (Na2CO3.xH2O) to 200 cm3 of 0.250 mol/dm3 hydrochloric acid in a beaker and stirred the mixture. After the reaction was complete, the resulting solution was transferred to a volumetric flask, made up to 250 cm3 with deionised water and mixed t...
