Thank you so much for your help! I've been trying to figure out this Source-Connect port-forwarding for far too long. I've done exactly what you've explained, but as soon as I set my Static IP, the ethernet connection went offline. Do you have any idea what night have caused it? I copied it exactly as it was listed, and made sure the Subnet and router were the same. So grateful for any help or tips!

I've tried their trial version few years ago because my client requires it. However, I couldn't setup the network properly. I'm behind a router with firewall. They did not provide any supports for the trial version, so I did not bid for the project. My question is, if I purchase or rent the software, will they provide support to help my configure port forwarding for my router? Or will it come with sophisticated idiot-proof solution that anyone can connect in one click (just like VST Connect)? I don't want to pay if it's not guaranteed to be 100% successful.

Better practice to reserve a static IP address on your router. Reserve the IP address via the MAC address in the router's static table.

How do I know what my remote host is when port forwarding?

Yeah one way a lot of people confuse a static ip by an ip that does not change i see that as ip allocation, a static ip to me is an ip off dhcp under another ip for rg, besides the wan ip and thats where everyone gets confused

I would like to ftp images from my camera that has ftp facilities to my ipad using a file server app loaded to my ipad. This appears to work whilst using my home network from EE. However, if I create a hotspot away from my home with my iphone or use a different network I have problems with the Ipad not receiving my images. Ideally I would like to set a Static IP/fixed address to my Ipad so it never changes if I use a hotspot or a different wifi network. Is this possible? if so, could you please explain how I can do this Many thanks, Michael

hmmmm.....better is to set a static IP address in the router. Because if you switch off your PC and the DCHP server in the router already assigned the IP address to another device you will run i to an error.

Yes it has helped me a lot. I have the Standard version ( at least 5 years ) and I have never had problems. Now I have changed my computer and I am having problems with the configuration of my router. But source connect has an option to connect you anyway no matter what your status says. My status in this moment say port: no mapped. But still working!!! They call it Source-Stream and It's there in the application . We need to enable in the application where it says Advanced... Great video!
