Years ago I bought all kinds of Kindle books until one day I realized we are just leasing the license, and the books once purchased do not belong to us and they can be taken out of our libraries if there is a dispute with a publisher. So now I just buy throw away Kindle books that I will not return to after reading, and order hard copy books that I intend to keep in my bookshelf.

Could I ask what the clear back case is? Or does that come with the Kindle? Thanks so much

does the lack of warm light on the kindle basic bother you? im choosing between the basic and the paperwhite but im not sure if having a warm light is such a big deal.

I recently bought a new case for my kindle basic, it's got a clear back, and a sleep/wake front. I absolutely LOVE it!

Because of my wife's CONSTANT buying of physical books, I decided to switch to the Kindle to save space and have no regrets

About the ads - you can contact customer service and ask them to remove it, they’ll usually do it for free! Some would charge you but just keep trying and if you’re lucky you’ll end up with an agent who’d do it for free. I did it twice now, both for my basic and paperwhite, and got the ads removed for free.

Bug Amazon if your free trial doesn’t start. That’s what I had to do

I just bought the kindle paperwhite signature 11th gen like 5 months ago. I wish I had known they were coming out with newer ones

They do have apps for you to get free kindle books as well

I had my previous kindle since 2015 I think, just bought the 2024 edition, no regrets!

I do not care about my Kindle having ads. I can see if ads were popping up while I was reading, then that would bother me.

I got a basic too :D first e-ink screen for me, I was reading library books on my phone and this is already so much better. I will always love physical books but I am enjoying being able to easily read in the dark or on the go

I got a kindle as a birthday present, and have read over 25 books in 3 months using kindle unlimited. WOW! Definitely recommend reading the Housemaid series by Freida mcFadden from kindle unlimited, and samples are the BEST for deciding if to get a book.

I have 3 kindles. I have 2 kindle oasis, and I bought the basic in matcha, too! I absolutely love using my kindles. The basic model is the perfect size for travel. It's very light, perfect screen size, and the color is stunning.. However, the oasis is absolutely my favorite. The buttons are incredible. The device just feels more luxurious in your hand, plus the oasis is waterproof and has warm light settings, which the basic kindle does not. All in all, any form of kindle that appeals to you is totally worth it, in my eyes. It's awesome to have an entire library in your pocket. Can't beat it!! I hope you enjoy it! I just thrifted 218 books and spent 30 for my kids teens and adult book giveway at work. I do it because kids are on phones and iPad to much. I given away 1700 books in 8 months at applebees on veterans in metarie la I'm doing another haul tommorow to refill

I can't wait to get to Babel, I've heard so many great things! If you want to get into Stephen King's books I would definitely recommend 11/22/63, it's my favorite book of all time! And also, reading Misery in the winter is perfect <333

This is such a good list! I’ve had Babel for like a year and haven’t gotten around to it, I’m thinking maybe I should! I feel like the secret history is such a dark academia right of passage, but I wish I knew before going into it that it is a satire lol. And you should definitely read one dark window! I devoured it in one weekend lol and now I’m just waiting for my hold to come in for the second one lol

Good Omens is one of my all time faves (you coulda got it from me for free, by the by) and Neil Gaiman has singled out The Shockwave Rider as THE most eerily predictive sci-fi book of the last several decades, viewed in the context of our current social/digital world and the zeitgeist of it...
