    Just a quick question, because I can find both V10s and Supershape Titans at the same price over here. You mention value.. do you think it would be a better buy the Titans than the V10s? I'm a solid intermediate, I ski both blues, reds and blacks (carefully) and I'm focused on improving, not a very intense skier, usually mantain medium speed. I was leaning more towards the v10s, but since I'm planning on keeping this skis for quite a while I would like to be sure I can progress to the next level with them. Kind regards!!!!

    Hi! I just bought a pair of skis that comes with an Armada A strive 11 demo binding. I'm not sure i I'll mount it or buy another binding. From what I can tell the Strive (I guess its Salomon) is pretty good? I'm also not that sure of mount-point so maybe that is nice to have a demo binding to change it up between freestyle and park mounts. Would you say just mount the demo which was included or buy a non-demo? BR from Sweden

    Anyone here can help me with the sizing on these SX series? They come in the 3xx sizes (i.e 315, 330, 350). What would the equivalent be for size 280-285 MP on other ski boots? Thanks in advance!

  • @mathieug6136

    Maybe a boot size thing? Jeff from skiessentials mentioned it was quite the challenge for him and he wears 24.5cm boots

    • @skitalkdotcom
      @skitalkdotcom 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Very well it is. a 24.5 for a guy is outside the bell curve. It is all possible that the 24 shares the shorter cable with the smaller shells. With that said, the cables can be swapped out for a longer one.

    The cuff is attached to the clog higher up, as in the Tecnica Mach1 with T-drive. I haven't read what benefit that is supposed to give. The "suspension blade" only takes part of the load, though; the rest is borne by the additional attachment points below the ankle pivots which Lange calls second pivots. Conceivably, spreading the load around causes a different deformation pattern which could have benefits... or disbenefits. Various claims are made for this design involving the words: amplified, energy, performance, power, power transmission, efficiency, etc. This is mostly buzzword salad. Ski people especially like to use the word "power" a lot. A ski is "powerful", a skier "delivers power" to the powerful ski. This is not the physicist's concept of power = energy transferred per unit time. What is meant in ski land seems either to be stiffness, force or movement, depending on context. Presumably Lange is claiming that more pressure is applied to the ski with less movement (which would mean that the boot is stiffer). Lange also says that less effort is required to deliver this energy (i.e., apply this force). This also suggests that the boot is stiffer. What requires zero effort is a boot that does not flex at all. It transmits all force from the foot to the bindings unmoderated. In any case, the only thing that this design is going to change is how much the cuff moves as the shin increases force on the cuff as the skier's ankle flexes. Perhaps the strain - stress curve is different from in other boots. Many people who have bought the boot like it. They don't say that the boot is super stiff, however; in fact they say the opposite. EDIT: My full reply to SkiTalk's reply got rejected, so I'll just add here that I am only commenting, not asking a question. I am trying to reverse engineer this new cuff suspension style. Reverse engineering is required because Lange does not properly explain what is new and better about this novel suspension style.

      @skitalkdotcom 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I am sorry, is there a question or are you just commenting? :)

  • @jdthood
    @jdthood 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You repeat the claim that a Boa boot "engulfs" the foot whereas a buckle boot tends to "press down". What evidence do you base this claim on? If we consider the forces involved then other things remaining the same there is not much reason to expect that a cable will hold the two plastic flaps together differently from buckles. One significant difference may be that Boa has a fifth attachment point, but it is not obvious that the tension on the Boa spool has any effect on the boot shape. The main differences between Boa and buckles are that the Boa is more costly than buckles; unlike buckles does not allow observation of how far it has been tightened; and unlike buckles, Boa does not allow differential adjustment of fore and aft. Boa does allow quick and balanced adjustment, which is nice. But it could be argued that Boa is primarily a gimmick.

    • @skitalkdotcom
      @skitalkdotcom 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Tom. As you flex the boot, the shell distorts, where buckles are static, BOA is capable of adjusting to compensate for that distortion.

    I'm torn between the V8 and V10 Shapes. I usually stick to groomers but I would like to explore a bit more off piste ocassionally. I think I'm a solid intermediate , I ski at moderate speed, at blue runs I have a blast, can carve , control everything, feel relaxed , at reds I ski with a bit more effort but do it without any hesitation, and also blacks but carefully. I'm,49yrs , 178 height and about 190lbs weight. I'm leaning more towards the v10 because I feel they are more ambivalent than the v8s that are more a frontside exclusive ski .But I'm also afraid of the v10 being not too good at icy conditions. In both skis I'm thinking in 170cms , I currently ski Dynastar Speedzones RL 165cms which is a beginner ski that I feel I have already maxed out, they feel to soft for my height/weight and skill (wich is not great but greater than of those skis). Any input will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

      Of the carving skis in this range, i would say they are on the lighter side of average. At 76mm underfoot, they do OK in mixed condtions, I am not sure are are old enough to remember there was a time when 76 mm WAS a powder ski.

  • @Landwy1
    @Landwy1 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I like heavy, durable equipment, and the Pivot fits that bill. You can find race plates that do fit the Pivot so the height advantage for leverage and not having boot out can be found. Some bindings have a upwards-lateral toe which is safer than the Pivot, but having your leg actually Pivot rather than your skiboot heel grind into the plastic binding heel and having to overcome that friction is great on the Pivot. Depending on your skiboot shell, the SPX plastics might get wedged together. The side plates of the Pivot can also misadjusted where there must be a very slight gap between the plates and the skiboot. The weakness on all Look toes except for the Axial is the lack of an AFD that moves laterally. I use a heated bootbag and wear Sidas rubber protectors on my bottom of my shells when walking. My racing plug boots also have screw in risers/protectors that can be replaced with new plastic protectors when they get too rough to sand out. I also spray teflon on the protectors and bindings. (Yes, I realize teflon is a PFAS forever chemical and I wish there was a substitute) Except for the boot out problem (i.e. high edge angles) the Pivot is the best binding I have ever used for releasing and not releasing (i.e safety). I have bent/weld or cut the brakes to get them more off the snow when retracted,, and higher on the binding. I can have the Pivots typically freeskiing on DIN 9-10 whereas Salomon, Tyrolia, Head and most other bindings have to be set to 15 to not prerelease. The Pivot is a great binding needing a fresh up. I would love to see the Pivot in a demo version and elevated as well. A better AFD that moves laterally is needed as well. I have some great ideas for a binding but I wouldn't be able to survive the lawsuits.

    • @skitalkdotcom
      @skitalkdotcom 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This video is talking about the Pivot 12 and SPX 12 (soon both will be 13's) and NOT the metal 15/18's that higher level skiers might want. If you like heavy, durable equipement, then the SPX 18 should be your binding of choice, it is heavier than the Pivot and also was the replacement for the Pivot at the WC level. Yes, plates to to lift the Pivots are out there, both older rave plates and two part plastic lifter but that is not the point here. No need to address your setting desires other to say we will have to agree to disagree with the other brands mentioned and as far as the "demo" Pivot, a track would complete ignore the one of the main characteristics of why skiers gravitate to the Pivot, the short mount distance. If you have binding ideas that won't survive lawsuits ... I would have to question their greatness. ;)

    Hi guys! About the Look Toe, do you think is better for this 180* than other brands? I think Spx have 27mm heel elasticity so good for avoid prereleases right? But also will be "more confortable" in chattery terrain Vs other brands with less elasticity? Finally for a 87mm ski, spx with 90brake will be enough? Or tooo tight Thanks a lot!!!

      I cannot say the 180* is better... or worse than any other binding that has a 180* . As we have always said, bindings at this level are about confident. But I agree with you, personally, I prefer elasticity in a binding, soem do not, persnal preference.

I came from Atomic hawks prime and the fit in 100 mm was perfect for me. It's agressive so pay attention to the ski you'll clip them because you could feel your skis don't follow them at speed. Tested with Mantra M6, 5% lower than me (a bit too small) and I recommend it for very good/expert skiers in quest of speed, responsiveness and comfort.

    My only problem with the S4 is the bulkiness of the battery pack and the way they would stick way out on the side of your boots making it hard to pull your pant leg over the boot. I was hoping they would switch to lithium and we would get a much slimmer battery that your pants would slide over easier. But it looks like they are about the same thickness.

In this entire 5 min video I think there are maybe two or three sentences where you actually speak directly to the experience of skiing on the ski. If you want to do an in depth history lesson on the past 10 years of iterations that’s fine but the vast majority of your viewers are not here for that. It shouldn’t come at the expense of the content they’re actually interested in. This problem is fairly consistent across all your reviews. 2. I find the “skiing is fun” thing is a little tacky. I think most would agree with me even if they won’t say it to you. I think if you could make a few tweaks you guys would have a popular TH-cam channel.

    84 is a good-looking ski also. The colors wouldn't be my first choice, but the design is sharp

    I absolutely love my Volants. They were my first pair of "hourglass" skis when I was younger. Started with some Power Karves. When I started getting faster, I got 2 different pairs of Volant Golds, and eventually a pair of Volant Platinums, which I still ski occasionally. I, too, have a pair of Spatulas still unmounted and in the plastic. I also have a Volant/Aggression stainless snowboard I used for half a season before I realized how rare it is. I have a pair of Chubbs in the wrapper as well. Sad to see the V on the tip removed now, but glad that they're making a comeback in the US. My newest pair, purchased 10+ years ago, I had to get a friend to ship me from Austria.

    These vs Dynastar M Pro 85-90 for moguls? I’m the same “stature”

      The M-Pro is farirly stiff, so it really depends on how you ski bumps., I would say the Dynastar would be more on the power side of the scale, and the Line far on the finesse side. So really depending on what you want.

    Great video. Made me go look for the SkiTalk forum thread about this boot. Can't seem to find it. Did I miss one?

    Looks like a great boot. It's comfortable, it's easy to get in and out and it's a 130ish flex. That will be a game changer for many. I don't seem to have the problem of getting the boot on and off. My boot is getting long in the tooth and I need to look at a new boot very soon (K2 Spyne 130). Thanks for a great review.
