    Thank you! Great tips! And I so much agree with you about pronunciation, it is very underestimated. I hear quite often that people would prefer to learn thousands of words without learning the basics of pronunciation of this language. I don't think that everyone should get rid of their accent, but without correct pronunciation and stress in the sentence it'll be harder for natives to understand you, and it's also a waste of time to later relearns the same words. We went to the Germany and it was easier for Germans to understand me after only 6 months of studying German (that included a 4 weeks phonetics course) than my FIL who've been studying German for 50 years, just because he pronounces EVERY SINGLE LETTER. Or, for example, I didn't know for a long period of time that English has a silent L, and always pronounced it in salmon, almond, etc. :D Now I read IPA and know that some letters can get lost, some words can connect to one another, etc. For me it has been useful to automate learning process as much as possible, because I speak 3 languages on advanced level, and 3 that I'm currently studying are on lower levels. So I have a notification in Google calendar which language is my priority for today, with links to resources I can use depending on my energy level and amount of free time. I made stations for each language in Apple podcasts, and I use Feedly to organize TH-cam channels by languages. And no way I'm gonna do anything without listening to a song or a podcast :)

    Regarding physical exercise, I try to get around by bicycle as much as possible. That way it doesn't feel like working out. Car dependency in the U.S. is so prevalent it should be recognized as a disorder in the DSM. Regarding reducing exposure to chemicals, I often think of what my boss, a chemistry PhD, said, "always try the physical before the chemical solution." That makes me think of wearing sun blocking hats and clothing instead of sun cream. It would be interesting to read articles on that topic.

    I try to listen to podcasts in Italian whenever I can, from the moment I get up, when preparing meals, cleaning the house, running errands. I use a little clip on mp3 player the size and weight of a 100 yd container of dental floss. I play the episodes on repeat and once I understand an episode I move to the next. For vocabulary, tv shows and music I love in my target language are sooo helpful!! I learn in context and the sentences are natural this way (mostly if I learned them with a reality show) but for grammar I struggle a lot 😅 I see no other way for me rather then repeat a given grammar point over and over again with various sentences I think I'd use in a real life conversation. What is a healthy way to rest when you have been working so hard through a stressful transition?

    • @maddiexela
      @maddiexela 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Finding activities that force you to slow down and take a break due to the nature of the activity can bee a great way to achieve that! Things like, taking a nap, going to see a movie in theatre, getting a massage or facial and things like that where you physically have to remain still can help your mind to settle. If it feels difficult to sit still, going for a walk can be a great way to let your mind wander and think through things while your body can do something repetitive.
