This was recorded off the radio so it is a bit scratchy.
KMEL SUMMER JAM LINEUP 1992
มุมมอง 3.6K6 ปีที่แล้ว
I recorded this off of the radio in the summer of 92.
Wow, I never knew this was a full song?! I just knew it as the theme to Roc. It's a little overproduced and chaotic but I like it.
This song has been stuck in my head for decades 😁😁🎵🎵🎵
This was a great song.
I was there i have my ticket still
I was there...i still have my ticket
This should’ve been included on the 30th anniversary edition of Funky Divas all it needed to be was remastered
GOD 1ST ALWAYS Y'ALL MEMPHIS TENN SAYING
Omg!!! I was there!!!! ❤ thank you for posting this!! Been trying to find this for years!!! Now to find pics or videos!!!!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🏾🎶👌🏾
KMEL was so ahead of it's time with this concert format. I recorded these off the radio. Until I went to my first one in 1994.
I didn’t go to my first Summer jam until 96. I went to three of them. 96, 97, and 98. 93 through 95 was awesome. if you have a chance, do you think you can post some live broadcast from one of the summer jams on TH-cam if you could? Pretty please? It would be so cool. This station was real cool back in the day but now it sucks.
I was 16 & there!! Insane!! I only remember Silk, & Robin S… 😢😢
I was 15 & there my first concert and such an amazing time!!!
Dawn??
Man, this is so good...
This should’ve been officially released!!!
The best female group ever.
Lol that's funny 😂
My Jam!❤️❤️❤️
Rest in the good news ⚘ 🌚 👍 okay bye
I like the episode of Roc when En Vogue is on stage singing this song and Roc gets on stage with them and start singing along with them.
Roc TV Theme
I been looking for the full song yessss
Oh how I wish there was video of the performances of this! 😩
They need to be showing Roc on TV One the can take A Living Single and A Different World
It's on Amazon prime!
Also on pluto watching now
Hey Wassup, do you know of anybody who recorded the concerts off the radio on cassette I've been looking for a source for this audio for years✌🏾&🙏🏽
I have a really old tape of Rodney O and Joe Cooley's performance from 1990 but it's so old that you can't hear it. I've found here on TH-cam the audio of Boyz 2 Men 1992, Hi-Five 1991, Troop 1992 and Jasmine Guy 1991. Search their names and follow with " Summer Jam " and they should pop up.
Hey thanks for your reply, but those are just one song right if so I grab those awhile back and that's why l believe there's more out there, if you have that one show on a cassette there is technology you can use to increase the volume and improve the sound when you digitize it ✌🏾
Miss this station and those days. I would like to find a sample of the 'take another phone call or 'take this job and shove it', which happened every Friday. Thanks for this upload. :)
Absolutely triggering my ROC memories.
Back when Kmel was the people's station
I wasn’t there but I was listening to the broadcast. I was 14 going on 15 in 1993. That was an awesome lineup. I didn’t go until three years later. And this station had the greatest DJs, and program Director by the name of Michael Erickson may he rest in peace. We had DJs like Kevin Nash, rosary, trace and franzen, Rick Chase, the morning zoo with Bill Lee, renel, Lisa Saint Regis, and I can’t forget Davy D. And a personal favorite DJ of mine efren sifuentes. Unfortunately now, the station sucks.
Wow, talk about a flashback with those dj names! I remember em all too. I was 18 in 93. I remember when Michael Erickson was the 10-2 guy, Rick Chase was afternoons (RIP), John London and Renel were the morning zoo. Evan Luck ran the air at night with the Love Lines show when I was like 13. I did actually go to these Saturday/Sunday back to back shows in high school. I remember we got home from the Shoreline at like 1am and then getting back up at 7 or 8 to head back for day 2! LOL We're invincible at that age I guess. We did see great live performances from everybody who was anybody in those days though, great memories.
@@jay75.61 glad I was able to spark some memory for you. I didn’t start listening to John London until 1989. Then he left in 1991. That was how Broadway Bill Lee took his place. Then he left in 1995 and John London came back. Kevin Nash works at the Los Angeles radio station called radio free 102.3 Monday through Fridays. Believe it or not, that station is now owned by Stevie Wonder. Efren sifuentes now works from 12 PM until 6 PM on radio station q102. We lost John London and Rick chase unfortunately to heart attacks, and as you know renel is retired from radio and announces for the San Francisco Giants. Lisa St. Regis still works at the 98.1 station, as far as Rosary goes I don’t know where she is.
@@kayandaeddings4803 yeah i do remember when Joh London came back. it was a big deal then. I actually didn't know John London died, too bad. I have heard Lisa St. Regis on air, And yeah Renel went on to announcer fame. Good for them.
OMG!!! I miss our original 4 Ladies so much. Alot of people may disagree, but no group ever touched En Vogue. NEVER!!
I agree
@@rubinfloyd3714 I agree people think because tlc sold more albums that means something they could never see en vogue vocally they were mediocre compared to en vogue.
You speak facts Rudolph.
Don't Go was 🔥🔥🔥🧯👍 FIRE!!!!!!
@@KingHazy-OnlyHaze and runaway love was the jam
I've never heard this in its entirety. Nice. Should've easily been on their greatest hits compilation.
Fuck yes. So I was there!! Saturday, shoreline, on the grass. This show was fucking ridiculous!! Every fucking hip hop super star at the time!! Club 106 was a separate set up where you could get get drinks, I was too young of course. 69,000 watts of music power!! This concert was off the fucking hook!!
You lucky SOB. Well, at least I had a chance to listen to it sort of on the radio. But, I went three years later in 1996, 97, and 98. The 96 and 98 concert, my mother and I sat on the lawn. 97, we was in the nosebleed seats. Regardless, we had a good time. She is no longer with us now may she rest in peace. She died July 22, 2013.
@@kayandaeddings4803 I just saw this message. I’m so sorry for your lose! Sounds like you had a great time at the concerts though!!! I’m sure she looks back at those times and smiles at you from heaven!!!
I was there …it was hot as fuck..rode up there in my cutlass superme
And our tickets were like $17 bucks!! Fk todays singers!!
@@MrDBcooper77yeah it was hot. We were on the grass, a couple of buddies of mine sparking it up. I probably saw you… so many acts. I remember the line to get in was hella epic
I didn't know mjb went this far back.
Hard to believe the tall one turn 60 next year. Time sure flies.
The "tall one" has a name -- "Cindy". Thank you. That is difficult to believe, isn't it? Today's 60 is not yesterday's.
My favorite theme song. "ROC" was a great show. The harmonies are music to my ears. The choreography was on point too! They also sang the theme to Hangin ' With Mr. Cooper.
Finally found the new version or full version
Memories...Chuy was the best Dj in the bay in the 90s!
Alex Bayardo he was awesome which is true. But I guess everyone has a favorite. My favorite for me has to be none other than efren sifuentes Who also worked with chuy on this very station. Now they are working together again on a weekly show with Mauricio Mejia titled OYE!. It comes on Mondays at 6 PM. But, it’s not on the radio. You have to subscribe to Mauricio Mejia‘s TH-cam channel.
I just 😻🌹 the original "Four" members! #Brilliance
Thanks so much for posting the full version, they missed a big opportunity not releasing it as single or even on a re release of Funky Divas
ikr?
TOTALLY
The second verse is 🔥
Can definitely hear this on the “Funky Divas” album. Should’ve been this song instead of the actual opening song!
@@brittlia_ While I agree this song could've easily been on Funky Divas, too, I don't feel it's better than This Is Your Life. Equal to, but not better, IMO.
Still love these ladies especially Cindy!!!
Isn't her vice like candy? Though not my fave, I love her, too.
So many of us are like Roc...no I don't mean as cheap as he was, but just trying to make it through our day, trying to live for today....not for tomorrow.
Now that I'm older....those worse resonate to my heart a lot more.
We had great disk jockeies back in the day. People like Michael Erickson Who unfortunately we lost some years ago, renel, The late great Rick Chase, chuy Gomez, rosary, franzen and trace dogg, Lisa Saint Regis, and I can’t forget about the morning zoo, and a person that I am friends with by the name of efren sifuentes Who is one of my favorite DJs, and of course a DJ who women went crazy over by the name of Theo. And every Monday night they had a radio program called street soldiers which was hosted by Margaret Morris, and Joe Marshall. This station also had good programming too. And of course every year I can’t forget about the summer jam concerts that would be broadcasted on the air for people who couldn’t make it out to the show. Wasn’t those times fantastic?
And of course the voice of KMEL himself, Mitch Craig.
Vaughn Baskin Of course. After him, the late Brian James. But then he came right back.
@@kayandaeddings4803 And now we've got Pat Garrett as the current voice of KMEL i think?
Vaughn Baskin I think he has been around since 1998 or 2000. He is OK but he is not like Mitch or Brian.
I'll throw Davey D and Evan Luck in this discussion as well. I competed on his battle of the rappers call in show.
Blows my mind this waa a summer jam! They basiclly had everybody that was anybody at that time.
Nick Lee True that. And we had great artists back in the day along with the great staff at the time at the radio station. And a great music director by the name of the lake great Michael Erickson who passed and left us. He will be truly missed.
@@kayandaeddings4803Yes! Did u work a the radio station back then?
Nick Lee I wish. But, I went to the radio station back in 1997 to hang out at the up all night show in the summer of 1997. It was an awesome experience. Franzen and trace treated me and my mother like queens. They knew that I had a visual impairment and I was extra special to the point where the next year believe it or not I ended up getting boys ii men tickets for both shows. One in Concord, one in Mountain View. It was awesome. There is some staff DJs that I wish that I met. Well, one I am personal friends with on Facebook.
Thank u for this!!
My senior year of high school the memories....
AHEYyyyy
I was 13 going on 14 in 1992. What I loved about those concerts back in the day if you couldn’t make it, you can always listen to the radio broadcast on the air. My summer jam experience was in 1996, 97, and of course 1998. 97 was the best one to me. By the way, thanks for posting. This brings back lots and lots of memories growing up in Alameda California.
Dawn and Max on lead vocals on another hit
Michele Johnson This is Cindy & Terry harmonizing on the verses, and Dawn doing the adlibs/runs
@@C4rterMusic Dawn and Maxine are singing the leads, and Cindy and Terry are singing backgrounds
Michele Johnson There’s a video of them singing this song on here. It’s on one the parts of “Roc”
th-cam.com/video/WPz6Vlh1wak/w-d-xo.html
@@C4rterMusic I will look at the video, I can hear Max, Dawn, and Cindy voices in the harmony and on the leads for sure. Their voices are very distinctive.
LOVE
This could have been a single
Re-release it, for my part. I've always loved it !
Harmony wise, this is one of their best.
Omg🔥
Baby, you my kind of woman!
