Worked like a charm. A little gel flux on each solder joint and a quick touch with the tip of the solder iron freshened the joints right up. No more banging on the radio!

This worked beautifully. Soldering on circuit boards has never been my skill, but it worked. Thanks.

I just now did this successfully to my 2007 Ford Explorer SportTrac. OK, a bit too much heat & the last chip slid a tiny amount, but I got it back. When I removed/installed the tiny #8 Torx screws, I put a white rag underneath in case one slipped. Great video. Thank you.

I just fixed my display thanks to your video! I had lived with it for about a year until I stumbled across this. I had never soldered before and wasn't sure I did it well enough, but the display is as bright as ever. Just bought a cheap soldering kit off of Amazon for about $15. Give it a try, you can do it, I did!

Thank you for posting this! I upgraded my factory radio with a 6CD unit from the local salvage yard for $26. Everything worked except the display. I followed the procedure and the display works!! Saved me a lot of time and money.

good video just found 2 solder connections going to the display that were broken loose , repaired both connections radio works as it should, saved some money that's what its all about , plus the satisfaction of making the repair

Awesome, Worked perfectly on my 2007 ford fusion! I didnt use any solder. just cleaned it up like it says, then tried it. Everything came up and was functional so i just ran with it. Will definitely use solder if it happens again. whole project took less than 1hr. Thanks, wife will be happy!

Great video! My 06 explorer had same problem. Only took me 45mins start to finish ( disassembling, soldering, and reassembling). The Ford dealer wanted to charge me up towards $600, because they would have to send it out. Bullshit right? especially considering you can get a brand-new really good head unit for like $300. So I did it on my own litteraly for pennies. Thx for the video. One last side note, I have zero mechanical ability and even I was able to do it.

Thanks for the post! Took several tries but in the end, it was the 4 resistors that needed re-soldering. Tested the stereo, it worked! Thanks again. Saved us a lot of money had we gone and purchased a new stereo. 2010 Ford Edge.

so. I can't fix my radio at this time, but there is no display at all, and all I want to do us turn down the bass, how do I do that

Thank you so much for this video. I looked at my circuit board with a magnifying glass and thought I did see a crack, but it was hard to tell. Then when I soldered the board I thought one was loose. Sure enough, plugged the radio back in and it worked! Thank you again!

Thank you so much for this video! I'm usually very skeptical of these types of videos. I prefer to have the circuit and wiring diagram in front of me for these jobs to know what's going on but getting that from Ford is a no go. Cleaned the terminals with contact cleaner, added fresh solder and there you have it. Thanks again! :)

This worked on my radio and all I did was clean the connection.

This totally works!!! I fixed mine in no time at all

This worked for me! Be careful....if you get it too hot the "resistor?" will come off. Re-soldered both ends back on and it worked. May be worth it to remove it and take it to an electronics repair shop for the soldering...very small components.
