Never ever let your smoker go out !! Never couver up an empty spot with other frames! Nail a quarter inch strip at one end to keep your frames from falling down! Good luck with your bees!

A little tip which might help, place your bag inside a coffee mug and fold the excess bag over the sides of the cup then fill with a spoon. Much less mess to be made doing it this way :)

@@SteynHoneyFarms i never saw any video of your first harvest but only you helping anothrr fellow beekeeper. When is your nectar flow at the new apiary?
@ I specialise in Queen rearing so honey production is fairly low for me. We are currently in ur honey flow and my supers are filling up. I will definitely do an extraction video by then of December 2024. I am looking towards creating 40 hives just for honey production for 2025 and see how much honey I can get from each hive.

Oh so I can go into your home and take your food?
What if you have so much food that it becomes dangerous for you to have so much food? Bees will keep gathering until they encase themselves in honey, which has a negative outcome. Did you know that 65% of all bee swarms die in the 1st year.
@@SteynHoneyFarms maybe don’t put them in boxes where they can’t expand If I had the biological urge to make as much food as possible I wouldn’t like my house being put in a box where I can’t freely expand
@@SSS208-s I can fully understand that you would see it that way but modern beekeeping has helped bees flourish. I cannot speak on behalf of everyone as there are bad people in every industry, I can only speak for myself. When my bees need more space, I create it for them. If my bees has a disease, I give them the necessary medicine they need. I allow my colonies to tell me what they need and I provide it. Beekeepers don't make the bees, the bees make the Beekeeper. These things that I provide to them cannot be done in nature, if they encase themselves in honey they die, if they get sick they die and if they get attacked by predators they are more likely to survive in the boxes than in nature because our boxes are strapped and protected with fencing or electrical fencing. I see my bees as my pets rather than just a honey production tool. I have over 50 hives and I can tell you exactly how each hive operates and when something is wrong. They are my babies and I even cry when I loose a colony.
@@SteynHoneyFarms I 100% believe that you love your bees but you don’t steal and exploit your loved ones. Do you know what happens in the places where the queen bees are inseminated?
@@SteynHoneyFarms you can’t put their hive in a box then use that as a excuse to steal from them they are only overflowing because they are in that box and can’t expand as easily
Ouch! Hope it feels better. We love bees 😅
Thanks 🙏🏻 I agree. I have a swollen eye but she is dead. Make me feel sad
Hey..how many hives can i start with to slowly go full tym in beekeeping…just started here in Zimbabwe
@@brytmaposa9941 that is such a great question. Start with 2 hives and do some bee removals. This will give you a better under of how to take care of bees. I started with 1 hive that I bought, I did 15 removals and ended off my first year with 25 hives. My second year I ended the season with 50 hives and right now I am going to end my season with over 100 hives.
vegans don’t like to think critically
@@sarahe.7371 same with all the people who are against robbing humans what idiots
Bees make too much honey. We take excess.
Many people believe we steal the honey for the bees. 🐝
@@SteynHoneyFarms you literally do no bee stands on the crust of your tea cup and barfs honey into it
@@TheSiameseDreamer selective breeding is the problem
@SSStofu008 What breeding are you talking about? Lol
@@SSS208-s A good beekeeper takes the extra honey off not the honey for the bees. Every frame has a honey crown on it and the last two frames on each side of the brood chamber is full of honey. They use this honey to insulate the brood chamber. The reason why we remove the honey is for the bees safety, when the nectar flow is abundant the bees will keep gathering as much as they can, that's just how they are wired but during the fall and winter season the bees retreat to the brood chamber leaving all that honey unprotected making them a target for predators and disease. Hive beetles and wax moths love eating honey so they will literally rob the hive empty, destroy the bees comb and ultimately killing the bees as their goal is to consume and destroy. That is why we remove the honey to protect our colonies and give them a fighting chance.
please dont listen to VT. She is insane.
Thank you, I just wanted to clarify the matter because some people have not heard the other side of beekeeping.
