stayed there june 2 -6 for gay days I stayed there many times befor when it was the plaza hotel but it wasn't as nice as it is now there realy did a great job with the renovation of the loby and the rooms only thing i didn't like was that it was mandatory valey parking for gay days and they charged like 15 $ a day

narrow streets--giant houses--tiny yards...... guess that far North you don't spend much time outside? after reading the comments on this and other videos, seems a little sketchy place to live. tough life or just tough people in a water front town, guess fishermen live lonely mostly boring lives which explains why they seem to get or be rougher then most people. bars or churches look like your only meeting places, pushing you one way or the other =o]

The only thing I don't like about riding the AutoTrain from Florida to Virginia is that the trip is too short! This is the BEST way to travel, imho.

I was born in Winchester in 1960 and i moved in 1969. I have fond memories of a great childhood there.I visited about 10 yrs ago-i live in Winchester Va now-not too far from there-about 5 hrs i guess! what a great video!thanks so much for sharing(:

I know of no gas level restrictions. I think I have had a full tank from fl to va. The unload time can take awhile and it's random of how they unload the cars. The unload time in va is faster due to the station being larger. If you need to plan something for after you get to the station I would give yourself at least an hour to get your car.

Taking it on Sunday, wish my car was 3 inches shorter! It was almost $200 more dollars. Do you know if i need to have less than 1/4 tank of gas? I'm going Florida to Lorton, does it take a few hours to unload your car? Thanks

wow...I was born and raised in Chestertown. Been quite a few places since then, only to settle down in Washington DC (only 1.5-2 hrs away) My old neighborhood (Cannon St and Calvert Heights) certainly looks different than it did in the 70's-80's. I miss the good old days. Cool post.

Ugh had to take this cause my sister is afraid of flying...I guess if you got your own sleeping cabin it's a worthwhile venture but being confined to a seat for 17+hours is no way to travel for me...not great food unless you are willing to pay a little bit more for some cheap pizza...also the "in-flight " movies when I went were the Justin Bieber documentary and Gnomeo and JUliet... I recommend getting your own snacks and entertainment prior to this trip. SOme scenic stuff in VA through .

@TheDan4279 Oh ok. Well I'll tell you now: For 2 people, plus a car, you're looking at over $750.00 I don't know what type of discount you have, but I tried to see if any of them would work and unfortunately they don't.

@TheDan4279 It's 17 and a half hours; 3:30p.m.- 4:00p.m. departure, arrive at 9:30a.m. the next morning.

@aquarian256 I visited that terminal many times and two people who work there know me! I even got to have a look on board the cars even though I wasn't traveling.

@TheNjdevils11 IT IS RARE THAT TRAIN IS LATE. I HAVE TAKEN IT AT LEAST 20 TIMES AND HAVE ONLY EVER BEEN LATE ONE TIME. THEY FREQUENTLY ARRIVE EARLY. THEY CAN'T GET INTO THE ARRIVING STATION BEFORE 8:00AM BECAUSE THE CREW THAT UNLOADS THE CARS DOESN'T START WORK UNTIL 8:00AM. ISN'T IT REALLY A GREAT TRIP?

@BUSDRIVER5532 trip was great the train going northbound that was scheduled to arrive in lorton the day i left didnt get into the station till like 12 so me and my dad thought our train would be delayed but it wasent we left at 4:03 and we got into sanford at 8 am thought we would be late leaving and arriving lol but no but all in all the trip on the auto train was nice i would definitly do it again

@TheNjdevils11 WHEN THEY SAY "CARS MUST BE THERE BY 3:00PM, ALL OTHER VEHICLES BY 2:00PM,, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY MEAN. IF YOU ARE NOT THERE BY THAT TIME, YOU WILL NOT BE GOING ON THE TRAIN. THEY START ACCEPTING VEHICLES AT 11:30AM. BE THERE EARLY6 SO YOU CAN WATCH THE ENTIRE PROCESS. YOU WILL HAVE A FANTASTIC TIME. ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!!
